Hi I am a current student at Cranfield doing my full time MBA. I have created a new thread to answer all the admission queries.

Just shoot out any questions regarding admissions, program etc and I will do my best to help you guys.

Here is a blog by one of our current students regarding the MBA program.

@bharatemail Hello Bharat,
Can you please let me know about the Job prospoects after graduation from there.
Through this question I want to know about the career service that Cranfield provides to it's students.
Cranfield has a fantastic career services group which starts preparing you from the start of the course. But they are not going to spoon feed you. Its in your hands how you utilise them. Prospects are not very good in UK in general but if you try hard enough you can definately get a job. Many people from last batch managed to do so.

Bottom line is opportunities are unlimited but you have to make use of them. Jobs are one part of MBA but if you are interested in learning and personal development than Cranfield is definately the place to be.

Hi,

I am interested to do MBA from Cranfield. I have 7+ yrs of exp in technology - no management role (only some team coordination, project reporting exp). My GMAT 1st attempt score was also very low - 530 :(. I am preparing for the second attempt.

Is management exp. necessary required for Cranfield admission? How does the admission council consider GMAT score - highest/average of several attempts??

Thanks

Hi Koolmrsam,

Management role is not required to get admission into Cranfield. There is no such criteria to consider highest/average of many gmat scores. But I would suggest a gmat score of 650 and above would give you a competitive advantage.

Thanks bharatemail....Any idea abt post MBA salary for Cranfield graduates...I am already earning good amount as an engineer in Germany...I see no growing opp. in this country unless you know the language very well...so thinking of doing an MBA to improve career prospects and ofcourse the income as well :)

I read in posts that Cranfield is good for those looking for consulting roles post MBA...can you highlight Cranfield main strengths?

@bharatemail

Hi Bharat,

I have some questions as a perspective student and would appreciate your help.

I am considering to apply to UK Schools ( Cambridge, Oxford and Cranfield ). I have mentioned my profile below :

1) GMAT- 700 ; Graduation-75 % ; ( B.E.) ( NSIT ,University of Delhi)

2) Experience : 2.5 years.

Since graduation I have been working with one of the Financial advisory firms in Financial Risk and Regulatory Space and would like to continue to do the same post MBA.

3) Certification/ Awards/ Extra :-
I have cleared FRM Level 1 and planning to complete my charter before joining any B School.

I have also received couple of awards for during my current tenure. Apart from that I have organized event couple of event in college and have also worked with an NGO.

Questions :

1) Yes , I am Aware that situation is not so good in UK and It is quite likely that I would have come back to India, How well known are these school in India ?

2) As I mentioned , I have been working the domain of Financial Services and considering London is one major Financial Hubs, would there be some options which I could explore after graduation or are they completely ignorant of Non Europeans?

3) Outside UK , Are there enough Alums in with whom I can connect as my potential recruiters in places like, Singapore, Honk Kong, Mumbai, New York, Sydney ?

4) I want to do my MBA sooner rather than later, what other good school in Europe can I consider ?( Specifically, Is HEC Paris worth a shot ? )

Also, I would be to connect with you over gmail. Please pm me you ID.

Wish you all the best for your stay at Cranfield

Thanks.

Hey,

Good to hear that you are thinking about Cranfield. I will try to answers your questions to the best of my knowledge

1. These are the best schools in UK and I am sure they are well known in India. But still I think Judge and Said are better in terms of marketing themselves in different markets such as India. But if you are looking for personal development then Cranfield is the place to be, forget about everything else. Also all these schools has a smaller batch size and thus better individual attention compared to other UK schools.

2. I am sure there will be plenty of options to explore. We have many people in our batch from Financial backgrounds who are non-european.

3. Cranfield has alumni in many different countries with whom you can get in touch with. Cranfield has one of the oldest running MBA programs in UK, hence a big alumni network.

4. You have good gmat score, so I think you can apply in most of the top bschools in Europe. The only downside is that you work experience is less. It might be a problem for Cranfield because average experience here is around 6 years. But I would still encourage you to apply, your good gmat score and other things might offset this.

bharatemail: I know schools like oxford, manchester,etc provide good placements to the students.
As my relatives passed out from these universities.

Does Cranfield do the same or you have to search it out yourself. Or if I ma wrong please throw some light on the same.

I have around 640 in GMAT and 5+ yrs of experience in IT Operations. Please let me know

Hai bharatemail, first thank u so much for your willingness towards helping out prospective applicants..

I am a guy with 2.5 yrs of work-ex in manufacturing sector in operations.. I am giving my GMAT in 3 more months.. I am planning for 2014 intake when I will have 4 yrs of work-ex. I would like to switch over to management consulting(strategy consulting) post-MBA.

No wonder I have Cranfield in my list of target schools.. Even though there are lot of points to be highlighted, The inclusive growth strategy of Cranfield which aims to develop an individual as a UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL is what has attracted me very much..

Could you pl throw some light on 1. Industry relations between Cranfield and consulting companies such as BCG, McKinsey, AT Kearney.. 2. Alumni presence in this domain..

Thanks in advance..

@reviliant

Cranfield has a very dedicated Careers department. These guys will help you in every certain way they can. They will help you with the CVs, cover letters, information on job postings and graduate programs, career coaching etc. But then it is you who has to lead the way and apply for jobs.

You have a decent GMAT score and good experience. So I would suggest you to go ahead and apply.

@friend29

Thanks for appreciating my efforts.
Cranfield has strong relationships with consulting companies such as ATK, PwC etc. I can tell you this because every year Cranfield participates in ATK global prize competition and this is one of the very first events of the MBA year. This is just one example of Cranfield's relation with the ATK. ATK, PwC and Deloitte visits campus regularly for careers presentations.

There is a huge alumni presence in consulting companies and I can tell you this by looking at the Cranfield alumni website and they can be easily contacted through the careers department.

Hi Guys,

I am also doing my MBA in Cranfield this year. I really appreciate Bharat' effort here. I know he is swamped with work and still he is doing a fantastic job in answering everybody's question. I would be very happy to answer any question you might have unless Bharat throws me out of the blog for being an unwanted intruder:)

And all the best to everybody who is planning to get into an MBA this year.......

Hey Sushanta,

You are most welcome to share your views here. I am sure it will be very much helpful for the people who are interested in joining Cranfield.

@RaghvendraS
"MBA from UK is not valid in India"?? -- I am pretty sure you didn't hear the right information or didn't hear it from the right person. No one around the world can deny any of your education. As simple as that. I know several UK MBA graduates working in India in very good positions.

There are lots of opportunities out there. It depends on the individual. Uk is not the only option. People take job offers from different parts of the world. From our batch people already started getting interview calls. My suggestion is that research more on the schools, find out the eductaion quality, and look for the value that matters to you.

Happy researching....

@sushanta57021 thanks buddy; I think it sounded derogatory, sorry for that. What I meant is that many recruiters in India doubt the quality of UK MBA just because it's a 1 year program.. on the other hand, I have also seen people who after completing MBA in UK had to come back to India and work as executives for a mere 10-15 K. that might be a bit extreme! However, I have all the plans for an MBA in UK, b'coz I back myself for a strong career + education. Can you please suggest 3-4 good colleges in UK? you must be in touch with students of other Universities as well...

@RaghvendraS
There are lots and lots of MBA progammes in UK. As a matter of fact in every country. Generalising everything certainly isn't wise. You have to look for some specific qualities that you want. Alumni base/quality can be one of them.

Suggesting generally may not make much sense. I am extreemly happy specially with the quality of the lecturers, their willness to help and get involved, Career personnels, alumni in Cranfield. LBS, Manchester, Said, Judge, Warwick are few good schools to look into. there might be a good lot I missed. There are a number of good schools in other part of the Europe too.
