Hi puys,

@ mods - I found this pre-existing thread but it doesn't really answer my query:

I have a similar query. I'm going to apply to US B-Schools this year. Now, many US B-Schools say that TOEFL is not required if the medium of instruction was English.

Honestly, I cannot understand how this works. You see, I'm from a pretty reputed engg. college in India and we all know how this works over here. The course material etc. is all in English but many-a-times we use hindi to communicate with the profs. Does that interaction count into 'medium of instruction'?

Should I e-mail the colleges and specifically ask them if TOEFL is required for students from XYZ college?

...or am I just reading too much into it.

Well,by medium of instruction they mean if the course and curriculum were imparted in English. The use of local language is bound to happen in informal conversations and should not bother you till the conditions are met. However many B-schools with TOEFL waiver asks that your official transcripts specifically mention medium of instruction as English and ask for TOEFL in absence of it.My 2 cents, check with your Engg college and target schools.
