THANK YOU FRND!!

I think ICFAI is not offereing CFA any more ... it is only MIFA. Do one thing download a brochure from their site ...... it will be mentioned clearly if they are still offering the CFA charter.

i have enrolled myself for the same 2 months back and i have read the whole brochure as well as had a discussion with icfai executives.

@cfaspark
This is not true that the council does not do anything. They are organizing a internship program at Cygnus Business Consulting and Research for 3 months. This internship program " Financial Analyst Training Program" is doing very well. After the training, companies recruit these trained cfa's on much better packages than what otherwise is offered in the industry. You can view the brochure on cygnusindia.com

hi all,

i have seen more than half of this discussion but still have some doubts on taking up the course. To introduce myself i am an IT professional and want a carrer in management but due to some personnel constraints can't take up a full time program as i can't leave my present job. so wanted to do a distance and dat to in finanace. found out that MIFA is a good course. But what i really need to know is how far is this course useful after i have 3 years of experience(currently i have 1 year exp) and what is the pay that i can expect. and can any one tell me how far is the internship course given @ cygnus useful? please help me out..

I agree the Council organizes the internship program which comes at a cost of Rs 15K over and above the council membership fee of Rs 10K. So what is the Rs 10K council membership fee for ?
For example:
It is like you do course and then because the course is not sufficient to fetch you a job, you do another training which supposedly will get you a job. Honestly, the FATP brochure does not mention the median, highest salary offered to the candidates. So you don't know at what role/level the candidates are getting hired. There are some nice pictures of students sitting in posh offices (it does not mention which year they have been placed), but brochures are meant to be attractive and I believe the same brochure is being sent to all the pass outs irrespective of when they have passed.

First thing, CFA will not give you a career in Management only an MBA from a premier B School will give you that ( you can appear for the bank jobs which have CFA as the eligibility, if you get one nothing like it). MIFA is good course, no doubt about it, but it is much tougher compared to other distance learning courses. Doing an IT job and pursuing CFA is not easy. If you stick to your IT job and switch one or two companies, you can expect to earn around 5-6 lakhs after 3 years at least. Most KPO's first of all don't recruit fresh CFA's, secondly all KPO jobs will require 1-3 years of work exp ( don't take my word, do a search on Naukri/Monster). May be if you are lucky you might get hired by some small KPO but salary will be meagre!!

@cfaspark:thanq so much for the useful piece of advice.....

Deepa I have completed half the CFA program(MS Finance) and have withdrawn due to the disputes and want to advise you against IT at all costs. I have scant respect and total disregard to the way the institute now university is being run. Don't give into the Marketing people's demand they are very good at advertising and fooling people into joining their courses. Nevertheless if you have all the time in the world and have nothing else to do then CFA is a good choice - only in terms of well written comprehensive course ware( I do have to admit this and the rigor in testing the OLD CFA). Deepa with 3 years if you want to add 2 more years your chances of landing a Management job would be easier. Do online courses in management it will really help. All the best dear.

I want to do cfa from icfai but it is not cfa anymore it is mifa
aprt from that i have read so may pages about how icfai won the case over cfa (USA) THAN why did they change the name to MIFA
EVERYBUDY is saying good ICFAI CFA course content is good but when it comes to average package its 2.4 to 3 lkhs by doing mba from even a B-GRADE collage a person can get this amount of salary
I GUESS LEGENDS HAVE TO COME FOREWORD AND EXPLAIN
TUMTUM AND BABU EXPLAIN PLEASE THE WORLD IS GOING THROUGH A DARK PHASE !!!!!!!!!!!1

hi guys

I would need help from the MIFA enrolled guys.

a. How did you enroll? In the online mode of enrollment, do we need to courier photocopy of certificates.
b. Again which courier service provider did you use ( far-off Tripura!)

Thanks in advance

Hi deejay, thanks for the quick reply. I guess "icfai people" refers to the information centers mentioned on the iutripura website. For a few days now, I have been trying to contact the university over phone. Much to my dismay, the toll-free is not working and no one picks up other given numbers. Is is so that the university prefers enrollment through information centers over than the direct mode? .

there is a bsnl toll free no, try that from bsnl landline ( you will get through in 5-10 attempts 😉 ... the airtel number never gets connected !!
I am sure there will be an ICFAI office in your city, and you will have the details on the brochure ( guess that can be downloaded).

Is it true that finally ICFAI stopped CFA that's great news. You made my day. All the best for MIFA. As I said I don't care what they call it as long as it is not CFA. Yaaaaaaaaa

@JaihoJai: Im extremely sorry to dent your happiness but ICFAI has NOT stopped giving out CFA charters. For the course the ICFAI University gives out MIFA degree and the CCFA (Council of Chartered Financial Analysts) gives a "CFA" charter.

Now start your antiICFAI barking and squealing....we'll enjoy the fun ! Wahahahahaa

I MADE IT
Finally I am A chartered financial Analyst now
Thank you god
although I am quite capable of seeking employement for
myself, any help will be greatly appriciated
