So here go my questions to @prem_ravi Sir.

1. Career wise, 10 years back, have you dreamt of being at the place where you are today ? 😃

2. Having taken CAT multiple times chasing your dream college, have you ever felt-even for a moment- that your friends or your close ones don't understand your dreams or don't respect your struggle or have advised you to quit ? If yes, how did you deal with it?

4. Your favorite movie/movies and favorite actor (male and female)?

5. One thing that you regret the most, if any ?

@prem_ravi saar My questions: 😃

2. Who is your idol in life and why?

3. Difference between old PG and New PG?

4. The most obstructive thing you've ever come across and yet successfully got over?

5.Your take on following: (atleast 2-3 lines for each)

7. Your experience with CAT 2013..... 😛

@prem_ravi sir,
1.Do your ever feel that life before mba was better?
2.Do you think that one's intellectual growth stops in mba field, as selling your soaps does not require any intellectual senses, if you are good at it your perks may increase but not your intellectual instincts.?
3.One achievement in your life which would not have been possible if you would not have done mba?
(apologies for poor english)

First of all, Please accept my thanks for inviting me as guest here...I should posting my answers shortly

@dark-phoenix

Here are my answers:-

1). What would be the biggest difference in your life if PG wouldn't have existed, or you would've been oblivious to it?

Well, it would have made a huge impact. I wouldn't have known all the minute details required to crack CAT, I wouldn't have met some of my lifetime friends. I wouldn't have been able to start SPURTHI. In total, I wouldn't have been what Iam

2). One line of advice to a person who is not sure of doing an MBA, but is tempted by the opportunities.

Don't follow the herd. Follow your heart, even if you have to travel alone. Temptations are always temporary.

3). Favourite Puy/Pal? (Non- Mod!)

Loads of them...Would be an injustice, if I name one..HarshadK, Greenspan, somname, amrutesh666, prahalad85, anupamwillreturn, the_hate and many more

4). Your opinion of the New generation Puys and Pals of Pagalguy!

Well, I may be totally wrong, but my opinion is that, these days you hardly get to see people trying to make lifetime friends..

@brixcel

Thanks for the respect...Interesting set of questions 😃

1. Are you excited about this interview?

Definitely yes 😃

2. How did you get to know about PG?

Through a friend in Time (when I was a student)

3. Have you ever felt that PG, in anyway, is a distraction for you?

Well, I will use a different word, "addiction"...Yes I was addicted and many times have forced myself to not login (as I felt I wasn't preparing the most)

4. Tell us about a PG thing that you miss the most. Only one!

The old look 😃

5.What is one thing that distracts you the most?

After every hour the temptation to smoke (Even in the middle of something serious, this thought distracts me)

6. Your Favorite childhood memory. :inlove:

Those rainy days, when me and mother would search for vessels to prevent the water running through floor (Our hut used to leak a lot). Those saturdays, when we used to eagerly wait for dad (he was working in a different city and used to come only by saturday night and leave by sunday) and keeping awake till middle of the night, updating him with school homeworks, fights, marks in exams etc and then hugging him and sleeping (Miss those days)

7. Ever fought with a friend to an extent that your friendship was in danger, or worse, got broken? If yes, what is that thing/ topic/ subject you people fought over?

Yes, when I first started smoking, this best friend of mine adviced, adviced and one day threw my cigarette packet off. I got irritated, we stopped talking for about 4 years. Now its all good.

8. Three things you hate the most.

When people back bite, I also hate lies, When people are not sincere and serious in what they are doing

9. What is the one thing in you that you don't like?

I hate being emotional (Trying to control these days)

10. What is the next dream [After JOKA], you're going to pursue?

(i), Want to do one more course from Harvard (in the next 5 years)

(II) Own a BMW - 320D

@amarsaur

1)what sort of books u love to read

A lot of Biography, Philosophy

2)name the authors you prefer to read

Rofl Dobelli, Viktor E.Frankl and many more

3)what kind of music you prefer

Melody

4)whom u listen regularly(singer)

Karthik

5)sweet memories of ur school/college life u will love to share

Walking up on sundays, playing cricket till after noon, fishing in the evening etc...

6)who was ur favourite super hero in childhood.

Batman (even today 😃 )

7)which is ur favourite cartoon character.

Mogli

8)ur favourite tourist destination

Mauritius

@fighter21

1. Career wise, 10 years back, have you dreamt of being at the place where you are today ?

Well, I was very ambitious and wanted to make it large in life. I wasn't sure then how, when etc..But even today, I feel its miles to go....

2. Having taken CAT multiple times chasing your dream college, have you ever felt-even for a moment- that your friends or your close ones don't understand your dreams or don't respect your struggle or have advised you to quit ? If yes, how did you deal with it?

Yes, yes...The last time, when I actually made it, I promised my family before the season, that I will get out of this addiction called CAT. Except my father, no one knew that Iam going to appear again. I actually was preparing without the knowledge of my family. I declared it, only after my convert..Rest all is history.

3. What, according to you, freshers lack in comparison with experienced candidates, apart from technical knowledge ?

The major factor I see is, people do MBA just to get a better job with a hefty salary (If not everyone, most of them). The core purpose of an MBA is to equip yourself and get prepared for the years to come, roles to play etc. I have seen lot of freshers getting disappointed after the course (As they think an MBA degree will straight away put them in the top). They need to understand that they have to go through the basics of corporate life anyways before heading a team

4. Your favorite movie/movies and favorite actor (male and female)?

Pursuit of Happiness, IQBAL, DDLJ......No actor/actress in specific

5. One thing that you regret the most, if any ?

Oct 23rd, my dad was asking me to come home for Diwali (On Oct 25th, 2011). I said, Iam way too busy and cant come home (5th term @ IIMC)..24th, he passed away and I was there at home on 25th..Wishing I could agreed to his last wish

6. One thing about yourself that you are most proud of ?

I have always followed my heart and will do so...This onething, Iam definitely proud about

@kranxcitement

Excellent questions:)

1.Do your ever feel that life before mba was better?

Yes, many times...If not my self taught, there are enough people to make think that way sometimes

2.Do you think that one's intellectual growth stops in mba field, as selling your soaps does not require any intellectual senses, if you are good at it your perks may increase but not your intellectual instincts.?

What you learn in an MBA is adaptability...Selling soaps isn't easy..Understanding market, competition, customers requires lot more than mere selling and you are not going to sell soaps forever

3.One achievement in your life which would not have been possible if you would not have done mba?(apologies for poor english)

SELF CONFIDIENCE and FAITH in hardwork

@Harmeet89

1) Maybe you could start by giving some tips as to how should we handle CBTs (Computer Based Tests) better since a lot of exams like CAT, NMAT, Bank PO, RBI, CMAT etc. are being conducted online. You attempted CAT in the paper-pencil format which seems to be better and easier compared to CBTs.

I would say Paper Pencil was much more complex as the difficulty levels were high. Preparation is no different though. Practice as usual. Its just the change in mindset which is needed. With online, atleast you know the time restrictions per section.

2) Since you must have been in the corporate for some time and must have had a very good experience of that sector, how much does brand IIM differ from non-IIM brands, say NMIMS, XLRI, SP Jain, MDI, Nirma in the field ?

In the long run, it will all even out. A brand gives you an entry and after that its all an individual's hard work which matters.

3) Last important academic question: How do we decide our area of specialisation ? It is a common question for all of us. Please try and be specific.

The first year you get ample time to understand the basics and also get an opportunity to discuss your career goals with your seniors, alums, faculties etc. Top of it all, you need to know what you want to do and become in life and all the other factors, said above would help in fine tuning and take an informed decision.

4) Your first exam/quiz experience in MBA.

I flunked :), that day I was scared if I will ever pass this course, but as usual I pushed myself and that was the only exam in which i failed after that..

5) A truly funny incident in MBA that you won't forget.

There was this guy in my class, whom we used to call as dhoodwala..He used to come late always, will take the last seat and start snoring. One day, towards the end of a lecture (class was totally silent as the prof was talking), his phone started ringing..the whole class turned back (including prof), he just woke up and stood up (thinking the class was over, as it was the alarm which he had set up to wake him up as soon as the class is over). Everyone including the prof started laughing..

6) A teacher (no names) whom you ridiculed in your rooms for his weird acts in college.

yes, yes..iam no different. Have done that with many..

7) Many of the GEN-Y guys/girls feel that they can get better spouses after doing an MBA, with 7-digit packages. Your take on that.

Hahaha....well, in reality, its different...Things are changing, more than the spouse factor, people are ambitious about getting the 7-digit packages by themselves..

8) Your suggestions for the real Pursuit of Happiness in life.

Follow your heart , you have whole rights to protect your dream..go for it without any second thoughts, irrespective of what world has to say

9) Your idea of a great vacation.

Take my car, keep driving all alone on a road no one travels, with mild music around

10) Your favourite food, wear, brand.

Chicken (any dish), Armani, Apple

Hello Everyone,

It was very good experience reading these interviews and knowing about these great legends. As i am new to this PG so dont know much about these people. Cant browse through previous threads as its a bit of time consuming and its difficult to manage time between office and study. So it would be very nice of you people to atleast share the links where i can read more about these people, of course if thats doable and manageable for you people then only.

Thanks in Advance to all...😃

@ank_mission_IIM

Really sorry for the dealy, here I go...

1. How would you describe yourself as? (atleast 4-5 lines please 😃 )

A romantic and a sensitive man. I am a bundle of emotions. I love driving a lot. I can't tolerate hunger. I love holidaying in hill stations. I love being transparent and honest and respect people who believe in the same. I love being loved. Iam an extrovert, an avid reader. I am a very ambitious man, who believe hardwork can change destiny (many not in a day or two, but one day or the other it will change).I like making friends but also love being alone :)...A simple and a complex man in a nut shell
2. Who is your idol in life and why?
My first super boss, for his leadership skills

3. Difference between old PG and New PG?

Interface 😃

4. The most obstructive thing you've ever come across and yet successfully got over?

My MBA Journey 😃

5.Your take on following: (atleast 2-3 lines for each)
Money: The controversial thing...Not everything but omnipresent. Can change good to bad, humans to stones. Don't run behind money , because its a never ending thirst. The more you earn the more, you feel like running behind and in the process, you will miss out on small small things in life.
Life: Its about choices what you make, which decides what your life will be like. Life is once, live it king size..Make it large 😃
Pain: There is no gain without pain. The greatest learnings come from pain.Every successful story has pain in it. Many a times, we just keep focussing on the pain and forget the learnings from it.
Happiness: is the essence of life, but one has to remember that like sadness, happiness is also temporary. One should not forget that. "Even this shall pass".
a failure: One who gives up, who is a coward, who doesn't want to travel that extra mile. A winner can also be a failure, if doesn't know how to retain his victory, doesn't want to share his strengths with others
a winner: Is a one who makes it a habit to win, should be able to guide people to win, should be humble and approachable. Should have gratitude towards all those people/situations, which helped him/her to win
Love: Any relationship which has the following 5 things in it: Trust, Mutual respect, Freedom, Responsibility to protect the relationship, Empathy (Care), will definitely have love in it,
India: Greatest country with wasted talents. Has produced many talented and hasn't given a fair chance to people, making all those brainy geeks to run away.
success: Can never be quantified, anything which gives you happiness should be a success to you. Don't compare someone's success with yours in life. Always look at underprivileged people and be happy in life. This I would call as success in life.
struggle: Life in itself is a struggle. Learn to struggle, to fight. Nothing comes easy in life. If it does come easily, you will not realise the value of it. Struggle makes you a man, its the experience and learning which helps you deal with situations in life
MBA: Is just a part of your life. Understand what is being taught rather than what the degree will offer you and where it will take you in life. Remember, there are lot more successful people in life, who haven't done an MBA in life.
IIM-C: The one which I will always love, the one which gave me an identity, the one which made my dreams come true,. Any given day, I would want to go back and spend my two years again without any regrets.

6. Most of young people face confusions with their career path. Your message to them......

Think what do you want to be in life, don't try imitating others..Be yourself, show some patience, work hard, allow time sometime..If you can't find your destiny, your life will at some point show you the direction to your destiny.

7. Your experience with CAT 2013..... 😛

Well. it was interesting..Absolutely no pressure at all 😃
