the average marks of all students who passed in a test is 65% and those who failed is 30%. if the average of all students is 50% then find what % of students passed the test?
Let total no students who passed =p
failed=f

(p*0.65 + f*0.3)/(p+f ) =Avg of all = 0.5

sole n get p/f=4/3

now u to just find : p/(p+f) *100

A packet of toffees is distributed in a class. A child who receives one-eighth of the total number of toffees gets five times the average number of toffees received by the remaining children in the class. What is the strength of the class?
Let class strength be x and total toffees be t.
t/8 = 5 (7t/8/(x-1))
1/8 = 35/(8x-8),
solving x=36
The magnitude of profit is one third of the discount.

is it 12.5 ???
@mickym what i did was let total marks be 100 and total students be 100...as its a percentage question.....
and let pass students be x...den pass students marks=65x.....and fail students marks=30(100-x).....(65x+3000-30x)/100=50.....solve it....:P

bhai solution to dede....

let mp is 100.

dis will be 37.5 .

hence sp will be 62.5

now cp =sp-profit

but profit = dis/3=37.5/3=12.5

so cp will be 62.5-12.5=50

profit % =12.5/50=25%

yar dekh :amount= 1980 n 3465

hcf= 5*11*9
bt it is said amt of each mango is b/w 24 p n 36 p
