Hi,
How many indian studends in your batch.
I see many people not applying because of issues like food, etc. Are those fears real ?
Also what after post MBA do people come back to india or work in china. How visa works for china ?
Hello Gymnasty,
- We have 13 students from India in our batch
- Food is not an issue. We have lots of options. Infact, there is an Indian restaurant within 1 km from the school. Also, you have various options of home delivery of Indian cuisine.
- Most of Indian students chose to stay in China and find jobs here. And getting a student visa is not difficult. The school has a Foreign affairs department which closely works with international students in helping them secure the visa.
Hi,
I have following queries regarding the program:
1) What is the brand value of CEIBS outside China?
2) How many (%) of Indian students studying in CEIBS are able to find jobs in China? Normally, how many months it take them them after the completion of program to secure a job?
3) How many (%) of Indian students studying in CEIBS have to return to India in order to secure a job? Also, do Indian companies value MBA from CEIBS?
4) It is a popular belief that Indians are not liked and preferred by Chinese. Have you also encountered this?
I appreciate your help, Thanks!!
Hi Swapnil,
Please find my answers to your queries below:
1) What is the brand value of CEIBS outside China?
CEIBS is widely recognized around the world for having achieved a unique positioning offering China Depth, Global Breadth. A simple evidence for the strong brand value is the better MBA rankings, and the presence of globally connected & renowned faculty members in the school. Also, top recruiters do recognize the brand of CEIBS.
2) How many (%) of Indian students studying in CEIBS are able to find jobs in China? Normally, how many months it take them them after the completion of program to secure a job?
About 40 % Indian students decide to stay back in China. And on average, students manage to find jobs within 4 months after graduation
3) How many (%) of Indian students studying in CEIBS have to return to India in order to secure a job? Also, do Indian companies value MBA from CEIBS?
About 30 % return to India and the rest find jobs in Singapore, HK, Dubai etc. Not all Indian companies know about CEIBS. However, I would say most of the global companies who recruit MBAs are aware about CEIBS.
4) It is a popular belief that Indians are not liked and preferred by Chinese. Have you also encountered this?
Neither I have not encountered any such people/circumstances till now nor I have heard of any such incident from any fellow Indian. Infact, I felt that people here are very warm, calm and helpful.
Cheers!

a) I would not call CEIBS a financed centered business school as of-late more and more students are interested in Strategy and Marketing, and last year the school received best offers/packages from consulting. Having said that, the location of CEIBS - Shanghai(China's financial center) definitely has some major advantages when it comes to finance.
b) The typical profiles offered for people interested in IT and Operations are : Consultant, Sr. Consultant, Solutions Consultant, Account Strategist, Advertising Operations Associate, Product Marketing Manager, Business Development Manager, Engagement Manager, Global supply manager, Operations Director, Operations Manager, etc.
c) Not all jobs have a mandarin mandatory requirement. However, you would have a great advantage over others if you have the skills. I would recommend you to start learning Mandarin if you plan to move here so that you can compete with everyone. 40% of our class is international and so most of us are learning Mandarin. Also, the school offers language classes for free.

Hey, first of all thanks a ton for ur initiative!! I was curious to get info on CEIBS. My profile GMAT 710, 5.5 yrs exp in Finance.
I am keenly looking at Asia MBA, for obvious reasons!
I am more keen on pursuing career in finance - IBanking or consulting role...with tht bckground would love to get ur thoughts on following
- how do you compare HK UST to CEIBS (not much info on net...ur comments will be gr8 to have)
- similarly, if any insights on s'pore colleges vs. CEIBS
- while China has surely evolved...wanted to understand how much acceptability is there for international students? I spoke to sm friends (this is 2 yrs back..n frm sm other college) and they said..still lot of prefrnc is given to chinese national given the networkign advantage they have
- related to earlier...how imp is networking as concept? or its more like India where companies come to campus to recruit?
- quick comments on work visa requirement for China and its ease?
How easy is it to get a work visa in China for an Indian if one plans to stay there and work?
Isn't mandarin taught as a mandatory requirement before the classes begin? I remember reading about it on the website and that one has to pass an exam before starting coursework. The classes are held in summer before the course begins. Is that right?
Out of the 13 Indians in the current batch, are there any girls? What is the total strength of the batch?

Ans: It is actually hard to make a comparison between business schools at this level. Most of them have unique strengths, which they have worked upon over a number of years such as curriculum, way of teaching concepts, etc.,. If we look at China alone, CEIBS has strong brand recognition, good international mix and strong alumni network. Then, it depends upon how a student can utilize these strong points to find what he/she wants. Recently, in the batch that graduated this year, we had an Indian who was from Merchant Navy but wanted to make a switch to Investment Banking and work in energy sector. He achieved this successfully even before the campus recruitment began. So my recommendation for you would be to choose the school that can help you achieve your goals.
- while China has surely evolved...wanted to understand how much acceptability is there for international students?
Ans: As I mentioned before, 40% of the students in our batch are international. People here are warm, and welcoming. I havent felt a bit of discomfort since I have come here.

Ans: Companies do visit campus for recruitment like in India. And your friend said it right. In China, connections matter a lot. However, there are ample of opportunities for any student to make his own network.
- quick comments on work visa requirement for China and its ease?
Ans: Im not sure what the requirements are. But, I believe it will not be very difficult for a CEIBS graduate to secure one.

I know a lot of Indian seniors who stayed back here for work. So, I am assuming that it isn't too difficult to secure a work visa.

A chinese pre-course is scheduled one month before the school actually begins. This is NOT a mandatory course and there is NO criteria such that one has to pass exam before starting coursework. It might be a misunderstanding.
This precourse is a very basic foundation course that will help you manage to converse in everyday activities. Once the MBA course starts, you will have mandarin classes running in parallel twice every week during the evenings. At the end of first year, all international students have to appear for a chinese language competence exam and this is mandatory for the completion of the course.
Out of the 13 Indians in the current batch, are there any girls? What is the total strength of the batch?
We have 1 girl from India in our batch. The total strength of the batch is 190.
