Share your experiences about how you all tackled this outcome, how you managed to become successful even without doing MBA, how you managed to forget this failure and moved ahead in your lives. I guess lot of us go through this kind of a pain. Hi buddy, It is ok if you couldn't crack the exam. There is always a next time. Other than that, there are always options open other tan CAT in which you could make a great career which is rewarding too. Don't be disheartened. Where ever there is a will there is a way.

PERFECT thread for me.
The aim was to crack it in 14 but unfortunately could not happen and I have no one to blame but myself. I got to know early on that I wouldn't be able to do it. The worst mistake I made,was thinking that I still had time. I would spend countless hours on looking for the best prep material and discussing about but when it came to actually studying- 0 concentration.
Idk but for some reason Quants just makes me want to stare at walls or do anything but study it. The worst part is I was actually quite good at Math in school. Though one thing I've learned is that you have to genuinely enjoy the prep experience instead of negatively perceiving it. Enjoyment will induce interest and that will yield positive results.(something which I did not do at all)
Anyways I am fully focused and determined to bell it this year.Hopefully the risk of taking a gap year will pay off.

This is Sayan, a member of the UDT team.. CAT 2014 was the only thing I had fr my breakfast, lunch and dinner for the past 9 months. I worked hard for it would seem a very cliched expression but the fact is I did. It meant the life for me. I gt placed this year at HSBC.. Being from a family of moderate means, it was a big thing fr my family. But, honestly I did not feel happy as I akways had bigger fish to fry. Mocks, analysing them, Strengthening my weaker concepts on Test gym, working hard on those torrid Philosophical RCs.
It felt as if everyday I woke up having a notion that a war is on. I would return to the working ground after having mini battles, losing some, crushing some. I improved as time passed by. Getting 99%+ in CL and AIMCATS regularly was my reward. VA was my weaker section whn I had started preparing. But, the hard work paid off. I became more consistent with my VA scres.(Except the first 2-3 mocks,never dipped below 98%ile in both CL n AIMCATS). I regularly featured in the toppers list of CL Kolkata. I set higher standards seeing some people at PG.
The D-Day arrived. I fared pretty well.. 91 attempts in slot 2 on day 1. I was happy n anxious at the same time. I was worried about my accuracy in QA. VA seemed all right. Left a philosophical RC as a safe bet. Cracked those tough LRs.
Alas on result day I failed QA-99.3 VA-96.69 OA-99.28. I could not hit the 99.5+ mark.. I mean, how could I mess VA.. I still cannot believe it.Everything came crashing down.No A,C,L calls. 15 days had passed by, but my heart still pained. I wondered when the pain will stop!!
Last night one of my juniors came to my room with some problems on QA. Reluctantly, I started solving them for him. I dunno what happened, but I enjoyed something fr the first time post 27th Dec... I realised that this is my passion. CAT is my life. I will come back again next year. I am not settling for anything less than ABCL.. So, friends we are in this together. 😃

CAT'14 result was unbelievable i got only 65 percentile in VA and 79 overall. My first reaction was that, this cannot be my marks.
A little background- i had got 85 n 86 percentile in CAT'12 n CAT'13 without any preparation. In CAT'14 also i woke up only 2 months before, but i did sweat to the best of my ability. I didn't had much time left, so to optimize my score focused only on VA and towards the end started getting 92-95 in VA in CL mocks.
Some of my friends also got weird marks. Their previous year and this year percentile are ; (99.2 - 93.3) , (96 - 86), (97 - 91), (95 - 89). Now this begs the question how can there be a reverse current?
Doesn't getting a certain percentile a testament to your level, and a guarantee to get at least that much if you drop a year and study ferociously with an upgrade in mind.
Was previous years result just a fluke or was this years a glitch?
Or were Prometric and TCS judging on different parameters, that a change in format spelled doom for some while elevated others. But weren't both screening for the same entity (IIMs), so they couldn't differ much.
Or were the freshers taking CAT this year were of better breed than previous year and hence did offset the percentile. But won't this contradict the law of averages and drastically deviate from models like GRE where score is valid for 5 years.
Please do let me know, your views. Am I d only one whose score is egregiously lower than expected or are there others.
And , if these marks are justified, then also a lot of buzz needs to be created, so that candidates are aware of the fact that statistically speaking a worrisome percentage ends up getting a lower percentile. So, that candidates don't recklessly leave this years good offer, in search of a better offer next year only to be handed a naught.

i am a 2014 degree passout. i wrote cat two times and for both times it was a failure so i thought i will give a shot this time also. But a friend of mine told me that its better to join other good bschool. He told me that at the time of iim interviews they will ask "what were you doing two years". I dont have any work experience. Will that gonna be a problem at the time of interviews.

I've 46 Months of work Exp and left my job in June 2014 to prepare for GMAT, CAT and other exams..I scored 630 in GMAT and 81.98 in CAT. As my scores are very low and I'm not doing job now, so what can be the possible explanation of this faliure during interview?

Is it fine for a retake for CAT with ~ 2.5 years of exp. in a good MNC as of now- which will further increase to around 3.5-4 at the time of joining next year?
This year performance was just average 90+ and in XAT- 95
best test series to follow for cat 2015 ?? since u guys have given cat before,u know the best !!
