M taking much more time & even ending up getting wrong answers because of this switch in solving methods. Much less time in CAT. Also on screen calculator is there. Confused. Wht should i do. My approach :

C = 100x
B = 112x
A= y
B is 12% less than A+C, so
112x = 0.88( y + 100x)
100x. 24 = 88y
300x = 11y --------------1
Also given , B is less than 500
112x less than 500
x less than 4.46
x = { 1,2,3,4 }
but from equation 1, x has to be of form 11k
so it's a contradiction. where did i go wrong ?
