I need shortcut for these types of questions:
Three classes x,y,z takes an algebra test. The avg. scores in class x,y,z are 83, 76, 85 respectively. The avg scores of all students in class x and y together is 79 and the avg score of all the students in class y and z together is 81. What is the avg of all the three classes?

Perumal decided to walk down the escalator of a tube station. He found that if he walks 26 steps, he requires 30 s to reach the bottom. However, if he walks 34 steps he would only require 18 s to reach to the bottom. If the escalator is moving downwards, find the number of steps in the escalator.
