So after not being selected at AB this year and facing multiple rejects from other colleges in the previous three years as well, I have finally managed to convert IIM CALCUTTA!!
The feeling is yet to sink in, it still feels like a dream that an average joe like me will be heading to one of the dream institutes, that thousand others aspire to convert. Though I have never been too active on PG during the mock season, but I was always left in awe of how the PG stalwarts kept posting those god like scores in each mock, irrespective of the difficulty level. Well to be very honest, initially such scores used to bother me a lot and made me doubt myself, and whether I am pursuing the right dream. But eventually I was able to take them in the right spirit; these started acting like a source of motivation and a benchmark for me. Though I could still never imagine getting a score like this, as my performance used to fluctuate like hell in mocks from 75 to 99.9, I have seen it all. But the positive thing was I started hitting the 99+ mark more often now, with CAT'17 turning out to be one suck lucky day (had got just 86%ile in the last mock) and I was finally able to tame the CAT with a percentile of 99.87 :)
So a special thanks to everyone who has been a part of this journey and to everyone who inspired/guided me in any capacity during this unforgettable journey of 4 years.
Tips for future aspirants: Keep giving and analysing as many mocks as you can. Never give up, there will definitely be tough days and days where you feel why did you even embark on this journey. Keep fighting, and you are bound to achieve your dream sooner or later. Never settle for less than what you deserve!! (And GD-PI k liye bhi pad lena starting se, so that you convert your best call).
Time to sign off from PG and start the new phase of my life. Here I come JOKA ♥

Just curious to know how good FLIP certifications actually are. I have been contemplating on enrolling in Banking and Fundamentals course. Are they really worth the time and money. Will appreciate some feedbacks.
So, another marathon for CAT has ended. I have been active on Pagalguy more than I had anticipated. Seeing various polls and posts regarding the brand craze, I feel that someone needs to set some myths straight
1. Brand: Yes, IIMs are a great brand but that doesn't gurantee anything. It obviously provides you a platform to showcase yourself but remember the baton rests with you and finally it matters how much you cash in from the platform provided to you. I have seen it first hand at IITs, So don't get high on the brand name. Use it wisely!.
2. People who get into IIMs are superhuman: Oh come on! Don't be so clouded like your neighbour's uncle/aunty. All we did was cracking an exam (CAT) whose syallabus was till 10 class. The real test begins now, the real competition is now at your respective B-school. We are not superhumans, we just survived a test, I believe people who graduate top of the class at IIMs are superhuman, coz they survived the real test.
3. IIM A/B/C/X vs ABC college(Non-IIM): After reading the above two points, you must be wondering that this guy is a freak. But during my engineering(IIT) i had interacted with people from other colleges(NITs/Private colleges) who worked hard and were able to grab opportunities that even I couldn't phantom. I was also high on the brand, but soon realized that if I didn't get down, It would cost me dear. So, work hard and stand out whereever you are and you will be rewarded sooner or later.
Indians are always high on brand, we talk about harvard/MIT/Cornell blah blah but never about real things we can do to make out colleges a better place. I had a opportunity to go to US, during my engineering and I realized, people there were not high on brand but on making world a better place and providing solution/innovations. AND trust me that is much more difficult than BRAND attainment.
I hope this would help people to make an informed choice.
