Guys, need a seasoned opinion please. I'm interested only in fin and consulting. Will most likely convert FMS in the next list, have already converted IIM K, IIM I and MDI. Obviously not going to MDI, given my other converts, but am a little confused. While the fees (and no loan) is very attractive, I want to focus on the implications on a 30-40 year career and not focus on just the money bit now.
While FMS is a great college no doubt, placements in fin and consulting seem to be a little off. Fin - I understand there are no front end Ibanking roles outside ABC (maybe L), but looking at FMS' placement report, there seems to be a lack of good mid office roles as well. K, and I provide such opportunities (mid office of major I banks) but FMS doesn't. The fin roles are full of corporate fin and other traditional banking roles, something that doesn't excite me. Even K managed to get buy side roles (Edelweiss asset mgmt)!
Consulting - All companies that recruit here recruit at I/K. Wish we had MB (the other . Also, is the Olam role the same one offered at IIFT (since that isn't consulting). Given similar placements (actual intake from K/I is higher), would it not make sense to utilize the IIM tag, the network, and the benefits of a residential program

Random thoughts, what B-schools (generally considered top 15) do you think are overrated?
Top 15 hai toh absolute basis will be good only, I mean within the rankings.
For me -
Overrated - SP, FMS
Underrated - IIM I, SJSOM
Rationale
1) FMS - Horrible infra, horribly run, TERRIBLE placements for finance and consulting (yahan aaye toh sirf marketing karna), Overstated brand value (DU kids get wet thinking about FMS, nobody knows of it in Mumbai/Bangalore etc).
2) SP - Great college, but do not think it is better than IIM I, IIMK, MDI. Seen some people place it below all three but nahi hai aisa bro.
3) IIM I - Batch size compensated by extra number of companies, more dream companies and higher intake per dream company. Also, while campus placements ke leeye fight hai, in the long run you wiwll have access to a HUGE network of people (Ab IIM I gaye hai toh life mai macha lenge hi)
4) SJSOM - Amazing for ops. Does not get the credit it deserves.
Why do people prefer IIM Udaipur and IIM Rohtak over IIM Kashipur?

Hi all, received a lot of queries regarding summer as well as final placements at IIM Amritsar. So for the benefit of all I am reposting this message.
IIM Amritsar is proud to announce 100 % summer as well as final placements. Big brands like Pidilite, ICICI Lombard, GroupM, DELL, Emami, E&Y, KPMG, DishTV, Safexpress, Motilal Oswal, Azure Power, CBRE, TUV SUD, Arka Insurance, Securenow, Takshashila Consulting, Maruti Suzuki, Shopclues, Toyota, SBI, EXIM Bank, Adani, DHFL Pramerica, PayU, IFFCO, Tega, RBI, Canara Bank, Sportsking, Adani, Kirloskar, Yum, Muthoot, LnT, Catking, MCX, ACS, Keventers, Choco-Swiss and many others have bestowed faith on the institute. Just as final placements, summer placements were phenomenal as well. IIM Amritsar increased its batch size by a whooping 133% to 104 from 44 in its very second year of operation. With this increase in batch size, average stipend registered a 49% YoY increase as compared to previous year. Just as in final placements, where students received multiple offers as around 48 offers were made to 44 students, even during summer placements, students received multiple offers as around 122 offers were made to a batch of 104.
