Why is IIM kashipur suddenly in limelight and rated higher this time (this link: https://goo.gl/KNpKZV )? As per what I know it used to be rated lower till last yr... Curious..
Promoters from new IIMs are leaving no stone unturned in convincing people that their IIM is the best π Next we can expect is bidding from them. #I_am_sorry #please_ignore π
This is a long post and a quite frustrated one too.
I like many others, am desperately waiting for the CAP results. There are many like me who have blocked close to 4 lacs or more in colleges like NMIMS, SCMHRD etc. The interviews were over way back in March for most of the students through CAP and the results of the old IIMs were declared by May first week. So ideally, the results should have been out last week itself.
Even if the results are declared by the end of this week, what about people who get a wait list and have converts in pvt colleges like NM or SCMHRD? For almost all pvt. colleges, the session starts in the first week of June and if somebody joins them and leaves afterwards, his entire first semester/year fees won't be refunded. In such a case, if somebody is unable to clear the wl by May end, he will end up missing on joining the new IIMs and would be forced to continue at the college he joined earlier. You cannot expect anyone to simply hope that his wl gets converted and in his hope, he ends up with nothing in the end. And for people who have either a low percentile or an average profile, a direct convert can almost be ruled out realistically.
As the most premier institutions of the country, the IIMs themselves are expected to adhere to certain standards. When you expect to admit students who are amongst the best in the country, your administration should also be the best. I am sorry but the pvt institutions in the same league as the new IIMs atleast stick to their schedule and in this aspect are much better than the IIMs.
The last 15 days or so has been extremely harrowing specially for people like me who had taken a huge risk, given up on their jobs and dropped an entire year after their grad just in hope of that IIM tag. Atleast if the results are declared on time and their is a reject, one can get mentally prepared by the time he joins his backup.
I do not wish to criticize the adcom of the IIMs for this. They are only students like us and are also busy in their interns. But the Admissions Office of the new IIMs, especially that of Rohtak this year, deserve some criticism.
As somebody who grew up admiring and dreaming of joining the IIMs, this is frustrating and mentally exhausting to say the least. I just hope that in the forthcoming years, aspirants wouldn't be subjected to this kind of a mental torture and results would be declared on time.
A big round of applause for the new IIM this time. Brilliant performance.Β
Are any of the 2G IIMs at/above par with IIM Shillong? Similarly any 3G IIM, Amritsar and the likes to be considered above any of the 2G?
Or the thumb rule of "older the better" applies?
