What about this new AICTE circular that says classes are to be started by August 2 and full refund should be given till August 6? Any chance this applies to IIMs also? Anybody who really have any idea, please share
Any IMT G convert groups?Â
Anyone looking to buy Aimcats at discounted price in Delhi (City IP address nonsense)? Not even 1 used. DM
I am really amazed to see people who are already working in the top companies like THE BIG 4 and many more with 10+ LPA salary and having EWS certificate, and using the same to get into top B-Schools. And no one literally cares. Neither the certificate issuing autority nor these B-Schools who just need to match their salary slips with the EWS conditions mentioned in the certificate, but they don't really care . My question is,- are those people who are really economically backwards getting any benefit under EWS?Â
TBH, most people who are EWS, they don't even appear for CAT, I have a friend who is EWS and I told him to fill CAT and get into IIM, and HIS REPLY was - 'Bhai hamare paas nahi h itna paisa ki ham 25 lakh ki fees pay kar sake or pehle se family ke uper kaafi loan h to or nahi le sakte'.Â
So who is really getting all the benefits of EWS we all know đÂ
So the refund date is now 06 August 2021 after the new AICTE guidelines?
Anyone with link for 2020 SIMCATs?
AIWTSAC- Fatherâs Day Special
{I had initially written a better and more error free AIWTSAC but, today is a special day and wanted to convey my emotions in a more raw format.}
I hope you are safe and healthy in these trying times. A quick disclaimer, If youâre looking for a success story, I would recommend that you donât read it, because it is not. Before we delve into my story of ups and downs (mostly), a quick introduction. Iâm a General-Non Engineer-male with 8/7/8 academics and I graduated with a degree in B.Com (Hons.) in 2018 and have a work experience of 23 months as of today and a year gap too.Â
April 2017-July 2019
During the end of 2nd of year, talks around the college started that what next? From start-ups to jobs to masters, I was hearing that everyone had some or the other plan after graduation and here was I thinking what about me, though, I was pretty clear that it has be either MCom or an MBA down the line. The next 6 months went so quickly because of handling projects, academics, PORs and research into MCom VS MBA, which I concluded that it will be an MBA for me and that too with some work experience (probably to cover up the low 12th marks). Placement season also went smoothly with me accepting an off campus job and college life ended.
Job started with an all time high energy and reached its peak sooner than expected with the work now being robust and monotonous. Started looking for other opportunities during May which was never the plan initially but, it is what it is and after consulting from family and friends decided to give CATâ19 and ended my first job on 31st July.
August 2019-April 2020
Being a naive CAT taker back then, I did what felt the best and joined a coaching based on reviews and friends recommendations, MBAGuru. Since, we were just 4 months away from CAT so, initially I felt like an outsider with students already having an edge with prior CAT takers to students from top tier UG colleges and what not. It was always a fight of getting most number of questions right before the rest. Being my first tryst with a national level entrance, I was quite intimated initially but, I had already signed up for it and there was no turning back now. Slowly and steadily, I got accustomed to it and things started to fall into place and I started believing that I got this, I can do it and Iâll do it.
20th October â19- I was coming back from classes as I used to every weekend and unfortunately was hit by a car and went unconscious. Thankfully, the accident happened just outside my apartment so, friends and neighbours had called my parents and I was hospitalized with multiple fractures on both, right hand and right leg. Got discharged on 25th October, 2 days before Diwali and a month to CATâ19. Rest of the days up until CAT were spent in recovery and making the arrangements for a smooth entry on D Day.
25th November (D Day)- I had slot 1 and a center which was 20 minutes drive from my house, because of the injury and the prior permissionsâ, I was allotted my seat quite early. Those of who know about the paper know that probably no one expected VARC to be as tough as it was that year and I was no exception. Confidence did take a hit and it had a ripple effect.
Results-
CAT- 90.8 (86/92/87)
NMAT- 207 (Cut off was 210)
TISS- 71 (Missed the cut off by 2 marks)
Converts for the season-
IMT DCP, NMIMS BangaloreÂ
The pandemic had hit India too and we were under lockdown and I was almost certain of joining NM Bangalore if, it wasnât for the online classes for an indefinite time period. Contacted few seniors, cousins and after a consultation decided to give CAT, one more shot. Started looking for job opportunities and started preparation alongside and got to know about Pagalguy through a friend.
May 2020-June 2021
Started my preparation for the second attempt, being in a better position with respect to knowing my strengths and weaknesses, I thought I can do it this time around. Completed and revised basics for Quants and started giving mocks (SimCATs) simultaneously. Being a first timer at giving a mock of such a stature, I wasnât aware how tough they can be and as expected the output was a downward trajectory (I thought I wouldâve at least have a 90%tile). The whole of May to July was spent by doing concepts, mocks, analysis, job interviews, repeat with finally joined family business on 1st August.Â
31st Augustâ20- Parents were in Rajasthan since 2 days and I received a call from an acquaintance (Dadâs friend) and asked me to come to Rajasthan as soon as possible with someone elder. Called dad, Uncle only answered and repeated the same. Called mom, everything seemed normal, Called Uncleâs  daughter, she reiterated the same. I knew that something very wrong has happened. I asked my relatives to come along and take me as soon as possible. I also asked them to speed up because I just wanted to see my parents. It was a 5 hours journey from Delhi and reached there by day end. Reached the place, saw dadâs friend and he was crying. My fear was getting stronger each moment and I went inside and saw no one else just my dearest dad on the floor, lifeless. He had an intense cardiac arrest in the morning. I couldnât believe what just happened. Someone who was very active, went to office every day, went to a temple every month by driving 300 kms, I couldnât believe that something like this can happen to a person like my dad. Life took a 360 degree turn when it was the time that my parents have their share of enjoyment.Â
Didnât prepare anything for CAT since then, only mocks and most of them without analysing.Â
CAT Day- 29th November â A day after my dadâs 50th birthday and the day his birthday celebrations were planned. Same Slot. Same centre. Same Block. Same floor. Time before the exam started, the only thought I had while sitting on that chair was it has to be his birthday gift. Started with VARC section. Broke down in the middle of the section. Instructor came and asked me what happened, gathered myself, had water, gave all that I had. Thought that I did fairly decent.

All baby IIMs, most of the new IIMs, IMT G Marketing.
Had almost finalised to join IMT G because I wouldâve been closer to home even if the classes will be happening on campus. But, I had something in me that wasnât accepting it whole heartedly, spent an entire day alone with no human interaction, no social media, no OTT nothing. Just me and dad having a conversation about what he wouldâve suggested if he was with me, physically. It was more of his dream than mine to see me at a Tier 1 B school.
Thank you would be an understatement to one special person, who I met through PG sometime back in mid November and has been with me, checking on me since day 1. Thank you, @Kanishka_19 (Joining MDI)
Also, a big thank you to the friends I made through the GDPI group who ended up converting the whole spectrum of top B schools. RC Practice - 21st June Â
A new controversial theory challenges the long-held view of most archaeologists that primitive European societies were patriarchal in both their social and religious structures, by suggesting that the people of âOld Europeâ from 8000 B.C. to 3000 B.C.âlived in stable agricultural societies in which women headed clans and men laboured as hunters and builders. This theory suggests that during the Stone Age there thrived in and around Europe peace-loving, matriarchal communities in which men and women lived together as equals, respected nature, and worshipped a nurturing deity called the Great Goddess.
Proponents of this theory contend that this peaceful and harmonious society was shattered in about the year 3000 B.C., when marauders from the Indo-European steppes replaced social and sexual egalitarianism by patriarchy and hierarchy, and warrior gods dethroned the Great Goddess. With the widespread decimation of Old Europe, the goddess-centred religion went underground. However, its symbols have reappeared over the centuries in the forms of the female deities of Greece and Rome, in the Virgin Mary, and in the belief in spiritual forces lurking within the natural world.Â
The theory of the Great Goddess has been hailed by feminist social critics, artists, and religious thinkers for providing an important alternative to traditional, patriarchal mythologies and paradigms, as well as for providing a new and more positive model for the human relationship to the natural world.
Yet many other investigators into prehistoric Europe consider the theory an unsubstantiated and idealistic version of history. To a number of critics, the chief problem in this radical theory is one of method. Traditional archaeologists, taking issue with unorthodox speculation on ancient belief systems, contend that archaeological evidence may tell us something about what people ate in the small villages of prehistoric Europe, how they built their homes, and what they traded, but cannot tell us much about what the dwellers of the ancient world actually thought. To them, such speculation is illegitimate.Â
But supporters of the theory of a goddess-worshipping Old Europe counter that such critiques reveal a certain narrow-mindedness on the part of scientists rather than weaknesses on the part of their theory arguing that some degree of speculation is important, perhaps even necessary, for the sake of progress in archaeology and other fields. This element of speculation helps reveal the implications of a theory. 1. Which of the following most closely resembles the new theoryâs view of the European society prior 3000 B.C?
A. A nomadic community of hunter-gatherer-builders in which women held positions of importance in clan, as men provided for the family.
B. A female-dominated society with menâs main role limited to labor
C. A warring community where groups were divided into two â one worshipping the male war gods and the other worshipping a kind feminine deity.
D. A pacific community of nature worshippers with well-classified roles for both sexes.
2. Based on the information in the passage, which of the following statements about prehistoric European society would traditional archaeologists most likely consider illegitimate? A. The people were agrarian and not nomadic. B. Â Food was cooked in clay vessels over a fire. C. The people were worried about invasion. D. They had adopted a more patriarchal model
3. Which of the following maxims seems most in agreement with the argument that the supporters of the Great Goddess theory put forth in response to criticism? A. Those who live by the sword will die by the sword. B. A mind is like a parachute in that it only works when open. C. He who does not understand his opponentâs arguments does not understand his own. D. The early bird gets the worm
4. Which of the following would be contrary to what a proponent of the theory of the Great Goddess most likely believes?
A. The available archaeological evidence does not rule out the idea that Old European matriarchal communities existed.
B. The field of archaeology has been dominated in the past by male- oriented scholarship.
C. Matriarchy is conducive to establishing a healthy relationship with the natural world.
D. The decimation of Old European society wiped away all traces of the Great Goddess religion.
