I along with my friends represent a group of students/young professionals who would soon join the top B-schools (IIMs, XLRI, IIFT, TISS, NITIE, MDI, IITs, SIBM/SCMHRD, NMIMS, MICA).
Amidst the ongoing pandemic, we feel that it's our moral responsibility to help out the people, as we all wanted contribute and help humanity thrive.
Having scored 99+ percentile & topping various MBA examinations, we have come up with an initiative wherein we’ll offer 1 to 1 mentorship to guide the aspiring MBA candidates.
We would be sharing our knowledge and experiences of our journey to hope that it helps the desired candidate in a way he/she wants.
We will be having a detailed examination of the candidate’s profile and guide them to our best capacity, accordingly.

How do I focus on improving QA and DILR percentiles from now till Nov?
I got 83 and 81 %tile in these sections respectively in CAT'20. I had only solved IMS' OMET materials and appeared some SIMCATs.
Will appreciate suggestions around general prep, strategies, books, materials and mocks.

A Heart Felt Talk
In my final year of college, I decided that I wanted to do an MBA so I got myself enrolled in a coaching class as I had no prior knowledge about aptitude exams. After entering there I understood that there are 20 IIMS and for those, I have lower cutoffs because I am an SC. I had never used the SC tag before as I was a state-level player in cricket, The colleges where I studied, I got them through the sports category. I was always open about being an SC because I never thought I am lower than anyone else in any aspect. I scored 73.xx % in Cat 2020 (Sectionally 65+) and converted IIM Ranchi. Before this attempt, I had scored 45% in CAT 2019. But suddenly now after converting IIMs people who are close to me even my mom told me that please don’t tell anyone that you are SC and you got this college because of that. I am generally the kind of person who would always tell you the truth because I think I have not done anything wrong in life. People always look down upon people who come from any category and people who have scored less in Cat. I don’t think that only percentile matters if you want to get into IIMs, otherwise it would have been like CET. I get that it's tough for general people. But why should anyone be ashamed of being an SC?because let's be honest no one decides to be born in a certain family and no one will leave an advantage if they have any...
So, my question is this: Should I lie to everyone saying that I scored good so then they will eventually think that I belong to the general category and they'll feel happy about my convert? or should I tell them the truth and let them look down upon me? or keep mum about everything that has happened so that no one knows anything?
Anyone here waitlisted for ISB? When is the last date of final admission? When are the classes going to start?

When is the 3rd list coming out for IIM Calcutta?
Apologies to PG Gods and friends for making this post in LinkedIn Lingo, but it had to be shared. Could not leave behind the place where it all started for me, while being too lazy to type it all out. Many of the best people I know and am friends with today, I know because of this truly inexplicable place where dreams are resurrected time and again through inspiration, perspiration and grit. Read on, CAT 21 aspirants.
Back in January, I had started this initiative called The Hale End of Mock Interviews (THEOMI, sorry about that mouthful but I am an Arsenal fan), to help people with GDPI prep. My friends Rishi Mittal and Karan Dasani soon joined the endeavour and made it their own entirely.
Here's how it panned out - 380+ mentees, 50+ interviews (live + recorded), 20 odd Q&A sessions. Rishi read and edited close to 100 SOPs for IIMB alone! What's even more important - the group turned into a ground for making friends, random meet-ups, playing games together and so on. We made some friends ourselves while learning a lot from our mentees in the process.
Results? Over 250 'converts' (includes double-counting) at ABCLIK, SP, MDI, XLRI, FMS & NITIE. ~100 of these at ABC alone. If even 10% of these came about due to our sole efforts, it is a humbling feat.
Why am I telling you, presumably a CAT21 aspirant or well-wisher of one, about this?
Two reasons.
Firstly, this is a heartening social experiment. Having been a repeated beneficiary of inexplicable kindness and support from peers and seniors many times in life and having been unable to pay it back, I felt it would be good to try and pay it forward. Its genesis was a small mentorship program we- Karthik K R, Karan and some other friends ran. Some common mentees from both of these endeavours are off to top B-Schools this year.
Secondly, the experiment seems to have paid off and here's where it gets interesting for CAT 21 aspirants. The number of mentors has exploded compared to last year - we have 30+ mentors from THEOMI and their friends, willing to offer mentorship for CAT 21. We proudly see it as their turn to spark off another multiplier cycle as our mentees become mentors to you/your friends.

We are aware they may have gone through multiple coaching processes and many other seniors or friends may have played a part. That is why I think the 10-20% number may be a better descriptor of our impact. That is, to my mind, a big impact for three people to have.
4. We doubt the mentors this year have an infinite capacity and there is a limit to their scale so if they get too many responses, they may have to filter through the list. Last year we did this by sending out an assignment to people and that may happen again if we find too many responses flooding the mentors.
