Since the difficulty level of CAT 2020 was higher compared to previous years, it poses a loss for the high percentilers, especially GEM. The reason being that difficulty level has not been taken into consideration for shortlisting. Since, most IIMs (read IIMC) calculate the CAT part in their composite scores based on [marks obtained/total marks]. Thus the CAT part in CS has gone down this time, while other metrics remain constant. Since the CAT was difficult, other criterias will dominate over CAT performance.
Won't CAT percentile be a better judge, rather than CAT score?

SOP for IIML All suggestions are welcomed. My interest in MBA came up with the boom of Esports industry in India a couple of years back. With coming of pubg mobile and the various national and international tournaments, a lot was going on which grabbed my attention, big companies like TSM, GalaxyRacers coming to India and hiring indian teams, setting up gaming houses called "bootcamps" and paying salary to play for them was something I haven't heard of. Out of interest I started researching about the industry a lot, and came to realise its huge in countries like China and Korea. And I firmly believe it will be the next big thing in India too with more games coming on mobile such as Valorant, Wild Rift. So, MBA for me is a ladder which provides me the skills and experiences of building and managing a bussiness, so that I can apply them in building up India's biggest esports company.

So, I got 97.88%ile in CAT 2021 with 74%ile in varc, 99.97%ile in dilr and 97%ile in qa. I was feeling bad because I think I could have done justice with my varc score and simultaneously, I was proud of my dilr score and overall it gave me confidence to give CAT next year and made me believe that I can get calls from old B-Schools next year. And now, XAT and SNAP result came. Screwed both of them scoring not even in top 5%ile. And now I started developing a feeling of doubt in myself that maybe CAT just went good on that basis and this 97.88%ile was far more than what I deserve, actually. And as I am a final year engineering student, with no job in my hand because I was focusing on my CAT, it's becoming quite difficult for me to get an offcampus job. Tried all amcat and elitmus platforms as well but got no oportunities. I always dreamed of Ahmedabad. But now I feel like I am dreaming of something so beyond and probably should take a new iim from the CAP round(which I don't want to). Feeling like standing in a sinking boat and drowning and drowning with not seeing any clue to get out of the deep sea. ://
