Hey everyone, I've been reading this thread and really wondering why is it SO HARD for GEMs to get into IIM ABCs even with amazing such acads/percentiles
I know it's difficult for engineers but didn't know it'd be this hard, given the responses on this thread.
I screwed up CAT this year (91.xx, i know i dont stand a chance) and was wondering what percentile range should I be targeting for CAT 2021 as a General Engineering Female (GEF)
I have an SPJain call (and hopefully should get one from XLRI too based on online predictions) but i wanna try CAT one more time.
My profile is :
Xth : 10CGPA (96%)
XIITH : 88.31% (HSC Board)
Graduation (VJTI, Mumbai) : 9.53 CPI (~88%)
I am targetting a decent IIM for 2021 (BLACKI/ or even FMS)
What percentile range will be safe for me!??

in the past has any IIM(rohtak not an iim for me) given calls to people who have score OA above 95 but screwed up in any section ( 50 percentile in varc i have )???

Hope you're all preparing well for PIs, even though the calls are not yet out. I was getting a lot of queries about PI prep and how to go about it so I decided to put together a little something that I think could be helpful.
Here's what I was thinking:
- I have a fair idea of PIs (fair, not expert level) having taken my share of them in the last few years. By the end of that time I think I was good at handling them to a certain degree (Trying to get others also to help, should the need be and time and bandwidth permit)
- This means I can take mock PIs which can simulate the PIs of at least the institutes I attended (C, XL, L. FMS, MDI, IIFT, NITIE, SJMSOM and their ilk)
- I can't possibly take mock PIs for EVERYONE who wants one. There are time constraints and also limits to the number of 'new' questions that I can conjure up.
- People can learn from the mistakes of others
- PIs will be online now (AFAIK), so video calls are the way to simulate the real thing as well
So the idea is to make a group, where you can get access to mock PIs whether by taking some yourself or by checking out those of others ( Some privacy tradeoffs here, you can understand the implications yourself and judge whether it is worth it)
Despite the flaws, I would like to believe this is a good thing to do and I am going ahead with it.
Quick note on what this is NOT:
- NOT PAID. I don't wish or feel the need to earn from this, only to make a small difference and if possible, help someone out at a juncture which I feel can be life changing. Also because it is unpaid I can only promise my best efforts and must stop short of taking any binding responsibility.
- NOT a guarantee of success (it would be foolish to claim that taking a PI with me means you convert) or even of you getting a mock PI (I am not sure how many I can take or what scale this will grow to)
- NOT a complete programme to help with your GD/WAT or to collate resources for you to read (I don't have the bandwidth or expertise to do this). Join a GDPI programme somewhere if you think you need to. This cannot compensate for a whole programme because I simply don't have the the time to make such commitments.
- Anything to do with the college I am at. This is a personal attempt to help out, please don't expect any insider info or any mystical tips for the PI of IIM C.

Any certifications I should be studying for that will help in summer placements, I haven't decided my future domain neither the college but I'll make it to the baby Iim's maybe even New Iims. But my acads are low 85.5/69.6/66.7 fresher engineering (cs). Tips would be very useful.
