I've heard a lot about the inflated placement reports across B-Schools, and so did a bit of analysis to understand the difference between IPRS audited and unaudited placement reports.Â
P.S. - I am not marketing any particular institute, rather putting out the facts so that many of us can take an informed decision and steer clear especially from the confusion around placement reports.
Amongst the new IIMs, only IIM Udaipur and Rohtak Placement Reports are IPRS audited. Due to which there are chances of inflation in other placement reports...Â
Here's a few basic things that I understood, and am sharing so that everyone can take an informed decision:
Unaudited reports take the discretion of quoting CTCs which often include things like the variable component of a package which is spread across multiple years, for eg.: the joining bonuses, performance bonus, etc., whereas IPRS audited reports only take into consideration the CTC amount which is received by the candidate in the first year of joining. Also, ESOPs that are offered are included in unaudited reports, but not in IPRS audited reports.
Basically, IPRS audited reports do not take into account sums like ESOPs or Bonuses that may be receivable after one year of your employment, but are included into the CTC figure quoted at campuses while recruitment.
Coming to internship stipends, a company's stipend quoted as (for eg.) 35K per month in IPRS Audited reports, is quoted as 70K per month in unaudited reports. How?? Because the unaudited reports take into account accommodation provided by the company, transportation facilities, etc.
So basically this is how unaudited reports show inflated figures.
Additionally some institutes like IIMU have a comparatively larger batch size than other new institutes. To have a fair comparison, we should also understand that the average CTC of a smaller batch size would always be better than an average CTC of a larger batch size.
Multiple things like these are bound to make the Placement stats of institutes that audit their Placement Report seem lower, yet personally I appreciate the transparency and clarity they reflect... Inspite of the auditing, if an institute's stats look competitive, I'm sure if we take into consideration all the CTC aspects that are considered in unaudited reports, as well as account for the large batch size, these audited institutes would be much better than many of the unaudited institutes.
Just my 2 cents about the Placement Report queries that many of us fail to analyse correctly.

My CAP interview was worst, and I knew it during the interview. Didn't want to take the college under it either. Then the results came.. Jammu BG . . . One after another.. And though I didn't want to take them, I felt bad. Really bad. It was like a hammer beating on my head every time the result came, and every time I got rejected or waitlisted at some impossible Number. Till Udaipur's rejection, I felt like a zombieâwalking, drooling. I was completely fed up listening to people how happy they are that they get their dream college, or converted it just to leave it. People asking me how many of them have I converted. I supported many people from start that they can do it, and they could convert it. I was right, they converted, and I feel happy for them. I guess none of them noticed my panic, it's good in a way, I don't like to talk about it when I'm feeling desperate. I feel like I'm on verge of repeating again, don't know what's going to happen, I didn't even considered the possibility of giving CAT again(maybe). CAP resultsâthough I haven't have taken the admissionâmade me humble, and brought me to earth about things. there's a reality, and there a bubble. I was happy inside my own little bubble in which I'm omnipotent. These results are like a window from that bubble to reality. All the best to those who converted (or comfortably waitlisted). I'll wait for my other results (really waiting for mdi). I have no idea what'd I do if I didn't convert any good college till last. I'll try for a job first I guess, or whatever it'd be. Let's see what future holds..

Why do these colleges call for interview if all they see is gem or is it all predecided.. I know there are many like me disappointed and sad But u know what, in the end.. Colleges have their criteria! If there is already a criteria then directly say no Why wasting time and hurting?

Asking for a friend who wants to attempt CFA L1
Considering the present scenario and summer placements in mind, what should be the ideal window to appear for CFA considering that early fees for Feb means a difference of almost USD 300 ?
Comments me bhi thoda explain kar dena taki mujhe explain karne me easy rahe. Zyada idea nhi hai mujhe CFA ka.

My CAT Story -Â
Started the season with the goal of converting Nmims. Started Cat Prep adn found that Cat syllabus is pretty much the only thing that will come naturally to me. Scored 99.51 in cat and 99.7 in xat, ekdum se bhaav bad gaye, ab to tumhara bhai IIM jaega (woh bhi purane waala). 4 months and some rejections later ihave ended up with a nmims convert. What it feels like to achieve the goals I set for myself
Wow. So I think I got rejected by IIM-Ranchi as well. 99.32/94/67.8/7.34/3yrs Workex. Not even waitlisted. I wonder whats my Trichy WL. It doesnt even make sense. Raipur WL 252. Here not even WLed. They have similar eligibility criteria. Just wow. Probably the last time I am going through this terrible experience. Three times similar percentile, not even one good convert. 2020 has been a fine year till now. Wow.Really frustrated.
Can anyone explain why IIM kozikhode is preferred over IIM indore? Mean of IIM Indore is better and Median is significantly better. Kozikhode and Indore will have equal batch sizes now due to new programs of IIM kozikhode, IIM indore has twice the campus area of Kozikhode as well. Why do people prefer IIM kozikhode over Indore then?Â

Random thought:
Years from now, when we look in our kids' eyes, do you think we'll be ashamed of what we did? We did this to the world, didn't we? All of us..
We watched as goons got elected to power.. We watched as millions died of starvation.. We watched as families lived in fear under powerful bigots.. We watched as the Amazon and Australia burned.. We watched as big corporations ruined the natural world, and livelihoods.. We watched as whistleblowers lost their freedom, or worse, got shot outside their homes..
But what could we do? We were busy making sense of our lives. Trying to find happiness in basic things.. The most dangerous thing in this world, more powerful than any weapon imaginable, is our collective indifference..
But even in this grim realization, I do have hope. That the future generations don't make the same mistakes we did. That they care more than we did..
P.S. I know results are rolling out, and I hope each and every one of you gets what they want.. Some of you will get oppurtunities to make a real difference in society. I hope you have the strength and compassion to lead us all to a better future..
