Long (Preparation) Post ahead.
I didn’t want to delay this anymore. So here it is.
Well, this is a post not only about LRDI but also about QA. Anybody weak in either of the two sections would benefit immensely with the following schedule that I am about to discuss.
To start with, the SIMCAT series of 2019 will be used for preparation. And this schedule will keep you busy for the next 25-30 days to improve on your weak area.
Before starting to discuss the strategy, I would like to point out to the fact that only those who have a good understanding of the basics and have solved enough number of good questions should adopt this preparation plan. The others, who are yet to start on this CAT adventure must first clear their fundamentals, practice upon them, and then start with this preparation strategy.
When it comes to QA and LRDI, we do know how Time management and picking up the right sets/questions become crucial while giving mock tests or the actual CAT paper itself. And though practicing questions plays a major role in your preparations, it is still not the end. One needs to give mocks and sectional tests, as for giving your best performance, you have only 1 hour/section in your hand.
And that is why I am emphasizing the fact of how these Past year Mocks will play a crucial role in your preparations. Not only use these questions for practicing but check on if it were an actual CAT paper, how would I have performed? With enough practice, these sectional tests are what will boost your scores and ensure that you not only clear the cut-off but also touch the 95%ile+ in your weak area, given you put your heart and soul in your preparations.
Before moving to the preparation schedule that I have prepared, I will share on how one is required to give these pdfs, the link to which is given below, as sectional tests.
Step 1. Make use of the PDFs wherein the solutions or the explanations of the mocks are hidden. For this, I used the site “sejda.com”. I used to whiten out the explanations or correct answers which enabled me to solve all the questions. You do not need to worry as I have whitened the solutions of SIMCAT 2019 season and posted the link below.
Step 2. Set a timer of 1 hour 3 minutes. I have kept the buffer 3 minutes because scrolling takes up a bit of time. You could take a print out of the past year papers to avoid scrolling and give the sectional test of exactly 1 hour.
Step 3 – Take a piece of paper and write down numbers from 1 to 32/34. This sheet to be used to write the option number for the questions you answered.
The scrolling might be a bit uncomfortable but those 3 extra minutes are given for the same reason. And a little bit uncomfortable environment is quite good so that you keep your calm even in CAT paper if some glitch happens (highly improbably, but still…)
Now as there are around 15 LRDI and QA tests available from SIMCAT 2019 Season, which tests are to be given to gradually improve on your weak areas?
To answer that, we need to first understand how a SIMCAT season is framed. IMS India ensures that the difficulty of the overall mock varies throughout the season. Sometimes, you might tackle a difficult VARC, sometimes easy. So, if you are someone who is sequentially following the SIMCATSs, my friend this is something you are not doing correctly. Obviously, you will follow the sequence of the SIMCAT season of 2020 and IMS India will certainly surprise you by playing with the difficulty level so as to prepare for the unexpected. This is very important to tackle the CAT paper. But, for the time being, it becomes important that your weak area’s difficulty level is gradually increased by solving somewhat easy mocks first, and then raising the difficulty level one at a time.
The Past veterans, decent scorers, average scorers used to post their mock scores for each SIMCAT. I made a table analyzing the marks, section by section, and generalised the difficulty level of the section by following the LAW of AVERAGES. This helped me in judging the difficulty and ultimately here I come up with a schedule for both LRDI and QA section of SIMCAT 2019 Season as per their respective difficulty level.

This is the schedule for one month. This schedule of SIMCATs is made by analyzing marks scored by last year's aspirants and judging the difficulty level. So, I expect this year aspirants to follow this schedule and improve upon their scores gradually.
Now, talking about the analysis of these SIMCATs of last season. Saying this frankly, I leave it to you! It's your paper, it's your sectional test, the marks you score are yours only. And hence the analysis of the paper should come from you. I am here to listen to all your queries and help you in every regard possible, however, I first need to see whether you are delivering the required hard work to sail this journey. Also, if you found my past analysis useful, you could use such analysis for the remaining papers of past SIMCATs on your own. I am not totally quitting the analysis of 2019, but for a few mocks where analysis becomes crucial, I will surely post them after sometime.
Talking about what I will be doing these 25-30 days. I am analyzing my QA skills, working on them so that apart from LRDI, I could also help those who are not able to score in the QA section. Utilizing this time will give me a clear picture of how this season will roll out not only for me but also for you guys.
Here is the one stop link to the past year papers is here - https://www.bschooler.in/past-simcat-links-combined/
I will keep on updating this link as I do it for past AIMCATs and SIMCATs with and without solutions
Hope this helps
Best wishes 😊
