My previous posts in PG have garnered good responses from fellow PGians who like to read and understand good articles from omniscients like me. Barring a few top performers I have never faced a backlash in PG. Leaving all these things aside I was actually busy in interpreting NITIE's results. Few of my students who had joined my flagship GDPI course converted. I was delighted but equally disappointed as to why top performers in PG had been again overlooked. I am doing a thorough analysis with 3 different cases to make you understand the same. This year has been quite tough on GEM students. Although, after IIM Rohtak's results I was expecting things like these. So, I wasn't surprised at all. But GEM candidates need to understand what exactly top institutions want from them. Without having a knowledge of this, preparing for CAT is useless. Let me explain NITIE's results in detail now. Case 1: 99.3+ in CAT with brilliant acads, poor work ex in a IT company, decent extracurricular. Case 2: 98.5+ to 99.29 in CAT with decent acads, good work ex in different domains, decent extracurricular. Case 3: 98+ to 98.49 in CAT with poor acads, poor work ex but brilliant extracurriculars. Before the results were out, I had spoken to one of my friends in NITIE who is a faculty and was one of the panellists who oversaw some of the video interviews. He told me that NITIE is a niche institute that actually looks beyond the CV of the candidate. What we actually look for is entirely dependent on the panel. I wondered that my students were very well prepared for NITIE and the results proved it. Case 1: Most people in this category are actually running away from their poor IT jobs in companies like TCS, Infosys. They go on to score well in CAT because they are bench warmers. Inspite of good acads and decent extracurriculars, they form the largest chunk of candidates to be rejected by NITIE. The other reason being NITIE knows that these candidates would never join it's institution because they have an arrogance about their percentile. They keep on bragging. They consider NITIE to be a substandard institute. Some don't even apply for it out of arrogance. Finally they cry when all top institutes reject them and they hadn't even applied for NITIE. In my opinion, the over aggressive attitude of GEMs eventually leads them to their failures. So, no point in bashing NITIE left, right and center. Case 2: This is the range where the maximum selections take place. These guys are grounded enough to apply for NITIE and sit for an interview. These guys are having knowledge from different domains making them ideal enough for selection. They give NITIE the respect it deserves and in turn NITIE rewards them. Moreover 99 percentilers in this range don't brag. Case 3: Some poor fellows who shot their own foot in the early stages of their career get a chance from NITIE to redeem themselves. In this case their extracurriculars saved them from further agony. Being a drop in the ocean among GEMs they form a niche segment. This is why they are selected. While my above post would surely prove to be insighful and enriching this is never the end of the road for GEMs. I would urge them to join my CAT course for 2020 where I would be mentoring my GEMs for 99.7+. P.S.Interested candidates can join my GDPI course for 1% of median salary of the colleges they have received calls from. My batches are almost full. So, I would be able to accommodate a few more. Interested candidates can DM me on my whatsa@p number 9090909000. Yours' faithfully, Swami RR (IIM C 1988)πŸ™

Hello, everyone. I'm Saransh, and I cleared CAT with 99.71%ile, XAT with 99.805%ile, SNAP with 99.7915%ile and IIFT with 96.137%ile this year. With quarantine mode on,and nothing better to do (Fresher here), I invite anyone who needs any sort of help, to contact me on Whatsapp at +917696788237 All the best with your prep, everyone.

Hey guys I am looking for some suggestion. I gave my first mock. SIMCAT score 110 OA ( 53 Verbal, 33 DI LR, 24 Quants ). Almost zero prep yetΒ

I want to know what should be my prep strategyΒ

1) Should I join e- catapult Live or e-catapult ( My reason for choosing a live program is to stay on schedule also it costs almost 12-13k more cost is not a issue but I want to utilise the time at hand the most)Β

2) how many test series on top of IMS should I join ?Time or CL or Both Β ? and what will be realistic situations to take mocks If I join all ?

will doing the live program teach me some shortcuts and techniques or will it waste my time and I would be better if studying on my own. This will be my only attempt at CAT as I have close to 2 years of work ex.Β

suggestions are most welcome
