Hey, this is for those quite sure of going for CAT 2020 only. Couple of friends on the PG DT and I have decided that we could well make use of our time by helping out others. So this post is about a little something we are planning to do.
I am available for assistance till Bschools start. The best LRDI teacher in India (:P), @SmileyKRK is available till 14th April at the very least and after maybe only for a little while. We are also engaging with some others who shall remain unnamed for now. Basically, this will be guidance/mentorship rather than coaching. And it will be serious business. We do not want to waste time with anybody and wish to help people as much as possible. Karthik and I agree that one on one interaction is better than taking a class of 15-20 people and risking wasting time on disciplining them.
We have found that very often people who fail to reach the highest echelons of excellence in the CAT do so because they are not asking the right questions from the start of their preparation. They do not have the correct guidance and we find that coaching centres do not really dish this out with their other claptrap. Having taken the CAT and scored respectabe marks, we think we managed to hit on the right questions. We got here with hit and trial as well, at least Karthik and I, therefore we know what the wrong questions look like too.
Despite the earlier post on here where I asked you people about what the value of a 99%ile would be for you, this is a totally free initiative. I was unable to ignore the weight of my conscience. Since we are not charging money, therefore unfortuantely, there is no commitment on us other than moral. If suddenly all of us get some form of work or internship or something else that forces us to disengage, we will do so. However, we expect that the chosen few will continue to be handled by whoever is free. In all likelihood, I will remain free for the foreseeable future and so will a few other people who have resigned their gigs. For now, the value of any percentile we can help you get will be measured in terms of gratitude and not money.
We want this to be as individual as possible. As stated before, the major part of interaction will be one on one and guidance will only be from people who know what they are talking about. To allow it to be as individual as possible, we have to choose people who we have the capability to help. Some of you here have a very low percentile and it is not possible with guidance alone to stretch you to whatever you need. Some of you already have a significantly percentile which means your basics are set, maybe just one or two interactions on strategy can set you on the path to a 99.7+. To enable us to understand who we can and cannot help, we want you to fill out the Google Form linked at the bottom of this page. I say it again, this will be guidance/mentorship and not coaching.
Finally, although we may get a number of responses (hopefully), the bandwidth we have to be able to deliver decent guidance is such that we will likely not be able to accomodate more than 10-15 people at a time. If we get less than that number of applications, everyone is in. If not, we will have to choose.
I wish to reiterate that free does not mean worthless because in our country we have a rich history of disrespecting whatever is given without money involved. It is free only because the people doing it have no hunger for money. If at any point we feel that the response from the other sides is not comparable to the effort we are putting in, we are out of this. We have no need to do this. And we could well do it for money. If it is a choice to keep it free of any gimmicks like success fee, base fee, 1% of median income etc we expect that your interactions with us will also be free of gimmicks such as wasting our time, not following instructions and that you will be keeping your word.

All those confused about going for mba this year or not due to corona. This might help you make decision. So this is the data from IIM C so you can assume that situation in other colleges would have been even worse. Also consider that this crisis is worse on economy then 08. My advice would be dont join any clgs below top 20/30 coz reduction in avg packages is a given for all clgs but below this I think many might also find themselves unplaced.

Is there any particular reason why people screw up CAT after aceing all the mocks. By screwing up I mean getting 90s something from 98-99 in mocks.I remember consistently getting in top 100 during the last 8 mocks only to end up at getting 91% in cat 17. The funny thing was I was kind of dejected when I saw 98.4 (time percentile predictor).I didn't even knew that I screwed up massively until I saw the percentile card. This year also I remember seeing people who did great in pretty much all their mocks but ultimately failing at the last hurdle Just wanted to have a proper discussion on why this happens as it might prove beneficial for people going for CAT20 PS :- It was definately not pressure atleast for me and some of my other friends as we had a job offer in hand at that time and we went in complete chill mode
