Seeing a lot of rude comments being made at Non-Engineers after the IIM-K shortlist released. I know tempers are high at this moment, but can we please remember that the fight is against the system and not against the ones benefitting from it? Think twice before you decide to mock/ridicule/ be mean to someone who has got admission because of diversity/gender/reservation.
Slogging for 3-4 hours after a demanding job, giving 60 mocks before CAT, sacrificing the fun and what not. Everything has been thrown to gutter by extremely biased selection procedure of old IIMs. (Not you, IIM C❤)
10/12/grad - 95/86/70.
CAT - 99.85
Calls - CI
Rejects - ABLK.
I was never expecting ABL but reject from K was a straight slap on my face.
I never wanted to go to a bschool like K where 11 students were remained unplaced in their official report and the stats for their fabricated placement report were exposed by B leaks and some students last year.
Call it a rant, may be grapes are sour but it feels terribly disheartening to get rejected after such a hard work.
Signing off from PG for a while 💔
Quit my job in August, prepped for CAT. Got a decent result. So far so good.
0 calls from IIMs. BLACKI se mujhe ek bhi call nhi ayi h. Frankly, I knew the competition was gonna be bad. Tabhi to job quit karke padne baitha tha na yaar. Tabhi 3 mahine I did not contact anyone, put my relationships under stress, didnt pay attention to my body etc etc.
2.5 lakh logo m top 1000 m aya hun, its no joke man. But no one told me that 99.5+ is not enough. That although it is already cruel that one exam has the key to all your dreams, what is crueler is that not only you have to absolutely crush that exam, you have to get inside the top say 300 - 400 students.
And MBA m 0 criteria to work Ex.? Kya ba*****di h bhai? An MBA is supposed to be a bunch of talented people who have come from diverse fields, who pool their experiences and grow as a result. Theek h yaar freshers hone chahiye, but if someone has worked even for 6 months, he should be preffered at least a little bit over other candidtates. Can someone explain how does a non-engineer with 0 work ex bring more to the table than a seasoned engineer?
Plus at least tell us the criteria by which you are rejecting us man. Only L had the decency to do so. The rest 5 could at least tell us by exactly what margin we missed those calls. This is my dream man. My career we are talking about. Theek h tumhe nhi lena, I respect that. At least tell me how close I was, so that I can reasonably decide whether to give this damn exam again or if I should tell my juniors to just stay the f**k out of CAT. This also gives coaching institutes an opportunity to play with students hopes and dreams. Just the other day there was this post by iQuanta jisme likha hua tha get 99.2+ in CAT and you will get BLACKI. The other institutes say TIME etc are no better. I'm sure if the IIMs categorically tell us ki 99.7+ lana h it would be much better and a lot more people would think twice before puttting their jobs on the line or other such drastic steps. At least reservation ke baare m I can't complain. Pta tha mujhe it would be easier for them so its okay. But this is one aspect I believe should be looked into.
That's my rant boys and girls. I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I guess I only have fms and the IITs to look forward to. All the best for the interview season everyone. And please please please don't suggest any GEM to go for the CAT. 😄
My little bro who just finished 3rd sem Engineering (too late now) was having a tough time deciding between Gate and CAT, now there is no second choice, Gate CS it is!!
Usko GEM hone ki saza na mille, jo hum logo ko milli, 99.3 ke baad bhi no BLACKI calls, and even people with 99.84 only managed C.
Hi!
I am seeing a lot of posts regarding the unfair/biased admission procedure that is being followed by IIMs. And yes, guys who have given your best to achieve 99.xx in CAT, hats off to you! I know it really shatters you if you don't get calls even after scoring so much. I think performance in CAT should be the sole criteria to shortlist students. In that manner, students with average academics also get the chance to prove themselves and leave their past behind. The fact that the whole criteria is so biased against one particular caste explains how ... up our system is! But yes, I hope each one of you makes it big and to make it big you don't need an IIM degree. You need guts! All the very best :)
So a lot of people have ranted out here and I believe I should have a go at it too.
A basic overview of my profile (GEM, obviously) -
10th - 95 (10 CGPA)
12th - 86.2
Grad - 87.1
CAT - 99.27 (98.33/99.07/97.11)
Spoiler Alert - No calls so far
I know it's not the best profile that you are going to come across here. So, the thing is that this is not a rant but something that I believe is for every GEM out there who got screwed by this diversity system. "Free ke marks" hai ya nhi, woh kissi aur din ke liye. I am pretty much done with the Indian education system here and I believe quite a few of you guys too. It's damn clear that IIMs don't want us and they'll do everything to keep us out. Well they are going to basically kick your a** if you are a GEM and you dreamt of doing an MBA from IIMs. So sabhi bhailogon ke liye (aur kripya koi diversity ka gyaan comment section mein mat dena) -
I believe it's time we fought the f**k back and screw them if they don't want us. If we can ace an exam like CAT, we can f**king beat these diverse janta of IIMs as well. Time to kick IIMs' a** now.
I don't care about an IIM-K reject, what I care about is being in LA, high on LSD, making out with a beautiful blonde. Or falling in love once more after a heartbreak. Or finding a portal to a fantasy land, a rabbit hole which leads to infinite ecstasy. Chasing Money = Chasing Resources = Chasing Pleasure/Comfort. What if you could have that right now?
In IIM Indore form there is a question why MBA and what is your career plan.... Do they want us to write SoP? Or even 2-3 sentences would be enough? Please help... I am totally new to all these things.....
Guys, its a request to all the GEM community, I know you guys are disheartened by today's iim K shortlist. But please don't discourage or make other people from different stream, category, or a female candidate who got the call feel low.
The whole shortlistling criteria was already released before even CAT. You guys already knew what you will face... You should have predicted that you will already missing 10 points. So you should have known pehle se hi that 99.5+ would be equivalent to 90+of diverse background candidate.
I know it's frustrating, but to think of it, it's just a criteria set by a college, and you can't actually do anything about it.
Iit kgp, sjmsom, NITIE and other colleges doesn't allow a non engineer graduate to take admission in the college. And also IItian's get the admit in some of the iit's directly... Don't you guys think, that's discrimination?
You guys can always go for GATE/GRE, not the non engineering graduates... Those guys are also missing out on very much.
DFS/DBE doesn't even allow people who didn't study maths in their class XII. You see Those guys missing out on these colleges doesn't bitch about it. Do they?
Cause they already know about it.
At last I will only say, don't be disheartened guys, for what it's worth, you should feel pride for scoring those huge Percentiles. And no college can define you.
All the best to everyone.
