Greetings from the Admissions Committee of SIMSR!

We are organizing a webinar on TICKET TO A B-SCHOOL in collaboration with IMS to help you with the tips and tricks for XAT, CMAT, GMAT, and other entrance exams.

Date: 13th December 2019

Time: 7:00 PM

See you soon!

Hey Guys, CAT results is about or less than a month away. I signed up just now to answer queries many aspirants may have. I am an IIM grad of a few decades ago.

Can understand the anxieties people go through in this phase. Have been on the selection panel as an alumnus of one of the IIMs for many years. Have closely watched the CAT-IIM Admission landscape for many years.

Will be happy to clear some doubts, anxieties as and when I get time. I will login in once in a few days next few weeks, once a day after results are out. I plan to spend about 30 minutes (Min) to 60 minutes (Max) whenever I login. Follow me, post your queries and will try to answer as many as possible.

Thanks and wish you good luck in the upcoming selection season!

Note: My knowledge is limited to General category. Not much knowledge about cutoffs for reserved categories (too many, too complex to understand!)

Seems like Pagalguy has a reset button.. Nostalgia is in the air!

I joined this group last year hoping to get answers before the official answer key was released, but witnessed some really interesting events.. While this year is a lot different for me personally, it does feel like I am living it all again..

I just want to say something to those people who are on the *borderline*.. just need a little bit of luck eh? To get to THAT college you so badly want.. Well I went through this hell of a time last year, and I am compelled to tell you, its a total waste of your valuable time and energy. Just hear me out..

Firstly, do not pay much attention to percentile predictors. These institutes do not have the right amount of data.. last year my predicted percentile ranged from 99.6 to 99.81, and what I got was a 99.5! Also, no one predictor is good for all ranges of scores. CL might be right for people above 99, while Time might be accurate for those below 98. And no one institute gets it right every year, its mostly just chance..

Secondly, and most importantly, since you all know your exact scores, its impossible not to think about which slot will get upscaled and what that might mean for you. While there is some logic behind which slot was tougher, like slot 2 last year, scaling doesnt always work how you think it would. For example, my raw score in slot 1 got scaled down by 2.5 marks OA, while a friend of mine who scored three more marks than me, received an upscale of 1.5 marks! Even though we were in the same slot and our scores were pretty close. A difference of 3 marks turned out to be 7 marks after scaling.. So please just leave it for IIM K to decide..

I learned it the hard way.. Scaling is a cruel mistress guys.. She might leave you with a bad sense of rejection, or she might just fulfill all your desires!

Lastly, do consider going for any good college, because after a few years, it doesnt really matter much.. Its the hustle that gets you where you want to be.. And if you do think you can do better, than surely take another go at it.. This forum is filled with such stories of perseverance.. Just when I thought I had seen all that had to be seen, here comes a guy who went from 98.96 to a phenomenal 217 this year! Take note and be prepared to give it your all..

All the best! Keep up the hustle..

The Faculty of Management Studies is organizing Founder’s Day on 15th December, 2019 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

We have received a great response from students & alumni and with just 2 days remaining, this is the last call for registrations for the event.
Following are the steps to register:

1. Pay the registration fees as per the following:

     MBA-FT students - INR 700

     Phd/Executive students - INR 1000

     Alumnus - INR 2000

2. Mode of payment:

     i. Google Pay UPI / Paytm

The payment has to be done to the following number: 8933053547

     ii. Payment link: http://indiainfrastructure.com/FMS-forum.html

3. Take a screenshot of the payment confirmation.

4. Attach this screenshot in this google form: https://forms.gle/Z3rQcgUBLJKHZvVB8
 and submit the form.

Also, after receiving multiple requests from people outside FMS, we have reserved a few seats for Non-FMS attendees. These seats will be booked on first come first serve basis. This event will act as a touchpoint for students expecting an interview call from FMS and also aspirants who are planning to apply for CAT next year. This gives them an exposure to some industry stalwarts and a platform wherein they can interact with the current students and alumni of FMS.

Also, this becomes a great talking point for the students in their interviews and proof point to add in the answer to the question: "Why FMS?." It will help students highlight their concrete interest in the institute.

The fees for the same is:

     1. Non-FMS Students: Rs. 1200/-

     2. Non-FMS Professionals: Rs. 2000/-

The procedure to register for them stands the same, they just have to fill the following form:

https://forms.gle/X2Wy2ySGzSpSyjwv6

I would like to make you all aware of the trickery used by certain people from a FEW colleges( where the cutoffs are not that well known ). So this is how it works.People post their profile and some people (I think from the institute )say things like ( “very likely” , “likely “and “still apply and don’t lose hope “)I’ve seen this happen mostly in the IITs pages ( especially Delhi). This is a huge marketing gimmick to make money off the applications. The people who should be most aware are those in the “likely”category, likely means mostly no , because they say “likely” call for a percentile of 95 from iit Delhi. They Benifit from the obscene amount of money each of you pay for the application form(last year was around 3k for iit Delhi and iit madras together). On asking them about previous year composite cutoffs , they do everything possible under the sun to hide it from you , they say things like , the previous year cutoffs have very little to do with this years ( and that is a lie) Ofcourse it’s not going to be the same but it’s going to be close. So please don’t go around taking the advice of people from these specific pages seriously. It happened last year and seems to be happening again .At the end you end up wasting money on a college you never had a chance with at your current percentile. PS:This is only for a few group ( such as IIT Dand is mostly confined to iits as far as my knowledge is concerned. The rest of the groups have good mentors who will give you a realistic picture of your admission prospects.
