Hi all, one query from my side. I am a GEM, working in an IT MNC and have 3 years of experience, by the time of admissions for CAT'19 it will be around 4. Ā
10th: 90%+Ā
12th: 80%+
UG: 70%Ā
Is it worth to prepare for CAT and get into an Indian B-school program at this stage, what are the chances to land up into a good Bschool? Want to pursue it in operations. If yes then could you please suggest the %ile I should target. Gave one previous attempt with studying in 2015 and got 90-95%ile. Didn't choose any college to join(my mistake). Ā Your suggestions would be valuable to me. Thanks :)Ā

So time to make it official.
Ā After months and months of efforts focused on a single goal, this journey comes to an end with another innings of life to start in XLRI. XLRI is going to be my new home for the next two years and I couldn't be happier.Ā
The journey that started 2 years ago, with me joining the nearest TIME centre has come to an end. This journey involved emotions ranging from happiness to sadness, ecstasy to heart break (read 2018 XLRI reject), and was one heck of a roller coaster ride. Coming from all rejects (Including IMT, IMI, MDI, XLRI, IIMS and others) in 2018 to securing a seat in XLRI in 2019, i met people on this forum who became friends and were like family during the times when mocks didn't go well or when ever any moment of self doubt arised.Ā

Took sometime for the news to settle in, The Red building of dreams it is. FMS Delhi 2019 - 2021. Had a great run for cat 2018 with an amazing set of people, without have been possible without the DT. Time for the Aiwtac 2018-2019 edition soon.

What do you guys think? Will Shillong reach the current status of Kozhikode and Indore in coming 2-3 years considering the average package that has almost reached 17 lpa, the nearing completion of a permanent campus and the fact that the IIM tag helps attract students with great profiles due to the long term benefits in terms of reputation that it gives. I am facing a possible dilemma b/w going to IIFT, MDI, IIT-B, Shillong.
Also, does any body here really believe Ranchi is better. Because I believe no matter what, Shillong is couple of years older and was established as an independent IIM. Moreover, it is also not under any other IIM's mentorship and is uniquely establishing its position.
Please also comment on the quality of faculty at Shillong if possible.
Btw, I am considering from perspectives of quality of education, peer group and long-term reputation only. I am NOT attributing much importance to placements and financial ROI. I probably won't be sitting for placements and would look to come back home to engage in family business. Thus, my main reason for MBA is the learning experience and the associated future repute to boost my educational credentials.
