Expected the paper to be tough, but it was moderate.

use the MARK option efficiently

Sec 1: Around 10 sitters. Quant was mostly from numbers, geometry,alligations and algebra..
2 DIs were tough
Overall sec 1 is moderate
Sec 2: LR was okay
2 LRs were very easy
1 was tough
All the RCs had tone related questions
Eliminating the options in VA was tough

Please do the sitters at the start, and later move on to the other questions.

>> Testing environment was good. Prometric did a good job in conductiong the test. 😉 Only sad part was the longgg waiting time before the test 😠
4) What was the surprise element for you? Uneven topic coverage of questions. No Geometry questions 😍 after so much hype.

>> Section 1 -It seems IIMs want to test us only in Algebra and Arithmetic. This section was full of Algebra, predominantly Functions, Log and numbers with few geometry qns
Functions had around 4-5 qns
Log-2
Geomtery - 3
Mensuration -2
Allegations -1,
Inequalities and Numbers - 4-5
No TSD,TW,SI-CI,PnC, Prob
I would rate sec 1 as moderate
Coming to DI, one caselet was easy, remaining 2 tough out of which one was first of its kind (atleast for me)
Section 2 >> I would say this section was moderate tending towards tough, mostly because of options given... Though questions seemed easy, the options were very very close... 3 Passages - One was easy with close options, One passage had only inferential questions like what would u ask the author in an interview and tone of the author.
Apart from that, 2 PJs were tough, 1FIB easy, 2 out of context qns tough, 1 Word usage
LR had 3 caselets - one simple based on arrangements, 1 was tricky as it needed lot of time to understand various conditions.

>> Dont stress on any one particular topic... You can get questions from anything. CAT is unpredictable as they say😁

Good..Co-operative Staff.

Just two questions from geometry and over 5-6 from functions and 3 trignometry and 2-3 hybrid questions.
One CRAZY difficulty LR caselet..in none of the mocks till date have i failed to attempt any LR caselet but this one was on a totally different level (I would say either attempt that LR set or rest of the paper)

AC can be an issue..so wear long overhauls and warm clothes.
6) Your overall analysis of the exam. Toughness, new topics, sections etc.
QA/DI : I would put this at moderate-tough level as it had 7 tough questions. Out of those 7, 3-4 are unsolvable in exam conditions.
A lot of questions from functions, trignometry and ofc the ant question came 😁
DI had a case-let on cuboid painting, One Caselet was very lengthy and one of the questions in that had imposibly close options.
QA/DI was a beautiful paper..nicely set traps and questions with good JEE level trignometry and 1-2 functions questions.

My standards for defining a paper :
Easy Paper : Easy questions must be in excess of 10+ and Just 3-5 Tough questions at max
Medium Paper : Has more Medium level questions and around 7-9 Tough questions.
Medium-Tough : Has most medium questions , few easy ones and 11 Tough questions.
Tough Paper : Has almost evenly distributed 14 Medium and 13-14 Tough questions
So this paper fell in the Medium-Tough Category.
All in all 24-26 Attempts will be commendable.
I would rate it :
Difficulty : 3.5/5 (if 5/5 is 25th oct)
Difficulty With Respect to Mocks : IMS >= CAT > CL > TIME (For QA/DI)
Thrill : 5/5
Now for the fabled VA/LR :
1 Extremely tough RC , 1 Tough and 1 Medium RC (Because that was on Universe 😁 )
Very Vague questions asked in all 3 RCs like i got 2 questions on interviewing the author and 2 questions on Tone..I suck at both (so attempted 6/10 lowest ever)
LR : (All sets of 3)
1 Easy
1 Medium
1 Extremely tough (Boat)
Worst LR performace among any mock : 7/9 Attempted sure of 6 but 1 is wrong 😞

PJs_________where Medium-Tough (2 Questions)

My opinion : Tough Paper
All in all 23 Attempts in this paper with about 19C will be a brillliant performance .
Any thing in the range of 50+ will easily yield 98-99+ in VA/LR this paper.
QA : Medium-Tough
VA : Tough
OA : Medium-Tough
A score of 90+ must yield 97-98~ percentile.
A score of 100+ must yield 99~ percentile.

I might have attempted some quant questions a bit better, DI section was good. Section 2 was good

Quant was a bit surprising. Especially the paper makers emphasis on functions

Candidates should keep their cool. 5-6 questions in each section are unsolvable . Dont pressurize yourself when you face such questions.

I had practiced Geometry and Functions a bit in the last few days, it paid off. No question from numbers.
This time the CAT is quite different from the mock Cats.

QA was easy I would say. Though there were some tricky questions,
in depth math knowledge would have helped.
Di should have helped in scoring. Not many surprises and not lengthy.
VA-Argh.. this is so tricky. I felt there were sitters but had big traps.😠😠
1 RC was really tough. 2 were easy (4+3+2 qs)
PJ's, PC's were moderate to difficult
Phrasal and fib's were easy to moderate.
LR- 2 sets were sitters& the insane boat set was insane( God saved me, i left it for an RC, it was equally tough though)

Haha.. Geometry only 2 qs of which one was insane
N ya no numbers(only realized after i took the test)
RC's were short pretty unlike time mocks.

I dont think ppl who access pg will have a problem with a cbt

Tricky paper, normalization might hurt or might reward u...Confidence will matter..!

VA- 26 ( No Idea about what i did here)

aimcat 1401.. result awaited...
3) How was your experience of the test?
QA: Easy-Moderate
with few sitters here and there and also some land mines which can tempt you to attempt... overall 15/21 were solvable on any day by a well prepared candidate... covered most of the topics unlike heavy weightage for Geo/Arithmetic like in earlier slots..... don't ask for breakup...
DI: Easy
2 sets with almost no calculations at all except some basic add,sub,%ge changes and one games/tournament set and that two only two cases....
LR: Easy-Moderate
2 sets were pretty easy and 1 was nightmarish.... holdon... holdon... is it really nightmarish... not at all... just it seems like what to do now with the data given in first look... but it will take hardly 4-5 mins and i realized it inthe end when timer was showing 3:40 left... managed to attempt all 3 but one was wrong for which i got some additional cases once the test was submitted...
VA: Not my area... i can put it in Moderate-Difficult range
This was tricky dis time. attempted all the questions even though my accuracy was never above 70(with few exceptions) in any mocks that i had taken this year....

Nothing..... Reading reviews from past 15 days and wrote CAT 3 times....
When everyone is standing under hot sun what made them to call girls first for check in.... not complaining but we are also human beings... we do have feel hot under sun... we r not from mars...

Overall Easy-Moderate with few tricky questions.... but definitely better paper compared to 10,11,12.... one thing is for sure... CAT won't be able to reproduce the exam like in 03-08 in online format...

6) Your overall analysis of the exam. Toughness, new topics, sections etc.: VA - Parajumbles, Paracompletions etc were tricky and tough. RCs were easy to read and understand but questions, they balanced out everything. LR was easy though. Quant was moderate but a lengthy - most of it was concept based. DI easy. so thats why 25+ attempts = 99%ile (purely my guess).
