@seetharam7 Everthing that had to go wrong.. went wrong yesterday !!! So was on a feel gud trip all night... made an attempt not to come online.. had every cliched reason in my head but alas my bruised ego wudn't leave me out of the race jst yet..Have an obligation to the team.. so will post the review in an hour..
dont feel bad, buddy.. I can relate to it, as I had a similar exp..

THE VIEW AFAR :

UP CLOSE & PERSONAL :

[image was removed because it was too large]

1) CAT Center and Slot
: SNGC, Kollenchery. @ 3.15 pm
2) My attempts: Sec 1 : 20 (Lowest so far this season !!)
Sec 2 : 24

3) My last mock score: CL Proc 9 - 96 (Pdf mode)/ Aimcat 1302-98.xx

4) My experience of the test:
Apart from the long wait everything went smooth. Staff were helpful & infrastructure was good apart from a slow responsive mouse. Terminals were a bit too crammed & close for comfort.

5) Surprise element:
CAT has done a complete turnaround.
The previous two seasons were simple (Rating :6) . It was a contest of high attempts v/s accuracy but this yr it was more abt conceptual clarity & question selection(Rate :8).
There weren't many sitters (4-5 as per my count) but as they were well spread out, you needed a cool & calm mind to spot & leave the speed breakers & zone in on all the sitters.

My only point of concern was that the questions were not spread across different topics.

I had no q's from Pnc, Functions, Trigonometry (per say did leave out a geo q -don't know whether it cud have been solved with trigo concepts ), Probability,TSD, SI/CI etc.

So pls don't leave topics as one might never know wht is in store on d-day !!
(Personally this played spoilsport as a majority of the q's (difficult) in nature came from topics which were not my forte)

CAT has personified the expression of a psychological battle b/w one & his ego.
Had a small phase during the exam where i literally cudn't press the next button.
This resulted in 4 q's (90% done) left unmarked after review which cud well & truly be the difference b/w a call or another season's wait !!

6) Any tips to handle the Computer exam better
:
Check if the mouse is for your suiting & if you have a habit of moving/stretching your legs ; ensure that they won't accidentally push against the plug sockets.

Also try to change your pencils once they become blunt. This hurt me a lot esp while attempting calculation intensive DI's.

7) Overall analysis:

Quant was partial on certain topics. If these were your strong suit, you wud well & truly be off to a gr8 percentile.

Pls don't go by any review(including mine) as the q's seem to be different even in the same slot & the allure of difficulty stems from the tension & anxiety built during the course of the exam.

A few q's required a strong base in the subject & a few required to be bookmarked & left alone !!!

A person who was sincere in his preparation and who keeps his cool can attempt 23-25, hands down. DI too, was easy ( barring one set).

S2 : My Saving grace in all mocks till now & my fair lady was completely oblivious to all the pain endured by me till then.

Churning out LR's which had multiple cases, one of which i jst cudn't comprehend compounded the fact that i was well & truly in a ditch i had dug for myself.

The RC's were simple to read & quick to go though however, they required an innate understanding to solve some of the q's , most of which were inferential in nature.

The q's from PJ/PC/FIB's/SC's could all be brought down to 2 options & after which it required a grace of god to know which was the fiend among the two !!!

8) My word of advice :

Avoid post-exam discussions outside the hall. None are the wiser.
Looking back & reading through the entire post makes me realize that i pretty much screwed the entire exam from the get go...

However, the strange fact is that after all that 'sobbing & hurling abuses at me' phase past, i know that this xam wont define who the person I am, & neither will it negate nor define all the hardwork that I have put in !!

Yes there are aspects that i wud change, but at the end of the day, I don't have many regrets!! Keep the confidence and ALL THE BEST..

Cheers !!!

Signing out after psedo-results, a pseudo captain & mate !!!!

P.S : Have XAT as my next xam.. so a loong wait !!!
P.P.S: Guys you can always PM if u're in any need..NDA approved !!!
P.P.P.S: Apologies for letting the team down !!

Have posted my review or my attempt at a GP like expose!! The bold or italics don't seem to work for some reason on the PG text editor... cumbersome & long read...
I ain't no heartranjan (http://heartranjan.wordpress.com)
as far as comical timing is concerned but can definitely post some motivational stuff rt !!!
@Kevin88 Hey, the attempts is enough if you have good accuracy. :)

Whole numbers !! I thought natural numbers. **** carelessness continues. Don't know how many i made yesterday.@Kevin88 Where is your review ?
What you are doing is adding the numbers na? Aren't you supposed to add the "digits"??
Eg. 12345678910, sum of dig=46, but sum of 1..10=55...
Sheri alle???

ahh. True da. Both me and kevin didn't think like that.
We could consider each set of 100 numbers and get the number of 1s,2s etc and multiply and get sum. But there has to be a easier method. ๐Ÿ˜ž . Sorry dude. Pass.

@raku1989 Do you know how to approach it ?

Okay da. Welcome to the thread. When is your CAT ? Which all exams are you taking ? And most importantly what exactly do the "i"s at the end of your name stand for ?

@Kevin88 Captain ! Do post images welcoming Adiiiii.

@seetharam7
Whatever you and Kevin has done is the easier method to get the remainder when divided by 9.
Conventional way of doing it will be to consider the number of 1s, 2s,....9s from 0 to 1001, add everything and divide it by 9 to get the remainder which takes a lot of time.
So the alternate method is to add all numbers from 0 to 1001 ((1001*1002)/2 and divide it by 9 which will gives the same remainder. And ans is 3 here.
If you want to clarify take the case @Ash27Winz mentioned above. 12345678910..
Sum of digits = 46. Sum of 1,2,3,....10 is 55. Both gives the same remainder of 1 when divided by 9.
@raku1989 Thank you. Your nmat is day after tomo right ?

Till 999, each of the 9 digits should occur equal times, I guess...
Then 111 times each..
111*(1+2+...+9)=4995
Add 1001, 1002; ie 5,
so sum is 5000.

Apo pinne remainder 5 aayallo.....

U have to consider numbers from 0 to 1001. (First 1002 whole numbers).
0 to 999 the sum will be a multiple of 9. (But its not 111(1+2+...9) . Add 10001001. ie 3.
So the remainder is 3 here.

0 to 999 has 1*9 + 2*90 + 3*900 digits.

I am taking NMAT on novemeber 13th. Have applied for XAT also. Not decided about SNAP. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ All the best !!

Puys, need your help. From where should I study for NMAT ? What are the important topics ? When are you people taking it ?

@Adiiiii I'am also taking it on 25th. Which center dude ?
@seetharam7 I'm taking NMAT on Oct 30th. I tried the AIMNMATs by TIME. It is much like CAT, but differs in logical reasoning.
