CAT Centre, Date and Slot: Spanning tree n/w solutions, Cochin. 18th October 10am slot
1) How many attempts you have made?
QA/DI - 21-22
VA/LR - 22
2) Your last mock score?
Out of the 20 AIMCATs, got 90+ in 2 , 2 of them in the 70s and rest between 80 and 90
3) How was your experience of the test?
Smooth.
4) What was the surprise element for you?
RC !!!!
5) Any tips to handle the computer based exam better?
Guess everyone is familiar with it now.
6) Your overall analysis of the exam. Toughness, new topics, sections etc.
Section 1 was easier than most of the Aimcats . Around 4-6 sitters in quant and around 7 were solvable given around 5mins. Few questions combining different sections. 2 sets of DI on tables and was easy. 1 table per question with just 3 columns and just 2 digit numbers in them. Could solve it within 7-8mins. One DI set on venn diagrams which was tough but solvable with more time.
Section 2- Verbal-really difficult. There were absolutely no easy questions. PJ, FIB, Correct usage, everything was difficult. 3 RCs. One was ok. One was on medical+philosophical. And the last one was philosophical+a small poem(Didn't attempt the whole set)
LR. 3 sets. 1 easy. 1 medium and 1 difficult. Starting from the options was the best way to approach. (Many cases to draw when we consider only the given information)
7) Any other query or something you would like to share.
There was a question with trignometry+functions
There was another question in which they gave us the trignometric formulas and asked us to solve. Still i couldn't do it.
Just 1 question from geometry. No questions from log, mensuration,Time and work, ratios, progressions, number systems, graphs.
Had lots from number theory.
P.S. I was kind of slow in section 1 because i was tensed. Took me around 20mins to get into rhythm. If this was a mock, i would say that most the people good in section 1 can attempt around 27-30.
Have fun guys and all the best

@seetharam7 : Hi Seethram, could you pls help me get directions to the CAT center(Spanning tree). I too have my center there and will be coming from Triprayar(Guruvayur side).

Appreciate your help.

@sandhubc Coming by bus or train ?
@seetharam7 :by car :)

I can help u on that . Come to MG road . Ask for SRV school , Its after Malabar Gold near Jos Jnction. Take the left immediately after the school. The road is alongside the walls of the school. You reach a small junction . Go straight till the end. There on the left side , you will see BSNL CUSTOMER CARE.

The Exam centre is opposite BSNL. πŸ˜ƒ
@joethaliath Thanks aliya...that helps !! :)

sorry guys.. just came back from Ekm . will put my review up in 15 minutes.. lemme have moi dinner

CAT center and slot : Spanning Tree Network Solutions, Ekm. @ 10.00 am
My attempts: Sec 1 : 21 ( was jittery to start with, I was f-ing nervous. God knows why)
Sec 2 : 26 ( better than expected)
My last mock score: lets just say, it made a mockery
My experience of the test: barring the delay for the initial check-in, everything was smooth. The staff knew their stuff.
Surprise element:The image of CAT being a test of your mathematical manipulations is long gone. It tests your conceptual clarity. Be thorough with your basics and you will come out in flying colors
Any tips to handle the Computer exam better: err. nothing here, i guess
Overall analysis: Quant was more subjective. A person who was sincere in his preparation and who keeps his cool can attempt 25 +, hands down. DI too, was easy ( barring one set).
Verbal seemed easier than what I had in mock CATs ( I m talking bout RCs, nt their Qs ). LR sets were time consuming. So were a couple of RCs. ( a small poem in RCs, as if we weren't tortured enough with all the weirdo Qs in RCs)
Any other info : No ques from P and C, Functions and the so called modern maths. Trigonometry made a guest appearance. FYI, an DI set was calcu intensive. Involved scary, vulgar numbers. ( multiply and divide cheythu pandaaramadangi )
PS: Don't take this post or any such posts as a reference. Each slot differs in questions and difficulty. So, no judgements before u take the test. And kindly avoid post-exam discussions outside the hall. It will be like speaking in French and Latin, given the variation observed in intra- slot questions itself
24 attempts in Sec 1 and 22 in Sec 2 seems reasonable. Maybe the realization that I lost the plot in Sec 1 made me attempt Sec 2 better

Thats it, guys
