@dead_alive Bro..pls post the options too

Agree with @raku1989 223. Bro, did you count the repetitive cases or is their some formula or shortcut ?

@seetharam7 Getting it as 2^8 -1-(8+5+10+6+3) =223.
Don't know whether i got all the cases though... let's see the options !!!

@raku1989 Method ?
I did this way....
number of ways of taking one or more coin from this set = 2^8-1 =255
But here 1+2 = 3. So taking (1 and 2) / (3) both gives the same sum.
so with the remaining 5 coins ( except 1 , 2 and 3) we can have 32 sums(2^5).
Those 32 sums would have been counted 2 times in the above value of 255.

So actual sum will be 255-32 = 223.
@dead_alive whats the correct answer?

No buddy.....I am taking leave for some 10 days before CAT. So all the work i have to finish it before 20th. Doing some OT for last couple of days. But still i used to find some 2-3 hours a day for my prep.
Actually speaking there is no excuse for me to stay away from this thread.
I have been visiting this regularly, used to read your posts where i saw you really frustrated for not finding anyone much active here during the peak time. I was too lazy sometimes or mind goes blank without knowing what to post here or where to reply...
So appo anganeyokkeyaanu kaaryangal....

@raku1989 : dude...lucky dat u r taking leave...i have loaded with a project since a couple of days and cant take leave also...sigh...preps gng haywire..getting time only to analyse the mocks...atb dude.. :)
@pugna Nee iniyum prepare cheythal 180 cross cheyyum...

Why only MBA?

@rohan_bhasker You still have your gate scores handy right?
In a test consisting of 15 questions, 3 marks are awarded for a correct answer, 1 mark is deducted for an incorrect answer and no mark is awarded for an unattempted question. If a student attempts at least one question in the paper, what is the number of distinct scores that he can get?
Any ideas???

he can get any of the scores ranging from -15 to 45 except 44, 43 and 40.

So ans will be 15+46 -3 = 58

Can someone tell me the difference between unless, whenever and if ?

Eg : (a) Whenever he plays, he feels good.
(b) He feels good, unless he plays.(Is this the same as "unless he plays, he feels good "?)
(c) If he plays, he feels good.

Also, what are the negations of these statements ?

The way i look at it , unless = if not

for example , in b) , to make things simpler :

" He feels good , if he does not play " ( unless substituted with if not ) and yes its the same as "unless he plays , he feels good "

about the other two , i.e if and whenever are more or less the same i guess.

Ahem , no idea regarding the negation..have to check up

Dude, U open all the matchboxes . Take 1 matchstick from first box, take 2 from second box, .............take 10 from 10th box and measure the weight. From the weight obtained you will come to know how much match stick u have taken with 2 gms (Just calculate the deviation from the value if it was having matchsticks only of 1gm). That number gives you the number of the box which weighs 20 gm.

Does anyone else have the habit of writing sectional tests before a mock to get warmed up ? If you do, will you be doing it on the D day as well ?

@seetharam7

Well, it really depends on each individual mindset rt !!!
I mean, some want to be as fresh as possible before a test & some on the other hand want that extra bit of confidence/adrenaline rush by solving some LR/QA/DI q etc
Hence, completely depends on your temperament on D-day !!!

It might do some good before a mock but not on D-day!!!

P.S : On a personal front, has done more harm than good !!!

The above link is to the registration page of a webinar which will be conducted by CL reviewing the first day of CAT...

I am not sure if non CL students can also take part ... Do try registering if you are interested ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Let the games begin
