Finally ..Its been a very..very..long time coming.. have finally broken through the 100+ barrier since 1320... After setting up shop in the 90's for the last 8 mocks here comes one to brighten my night..
AIMCAT 1302
S1 20C 2W 58 (Attempts are still too low.. speed is definitely my achilles heel after my lousy QA skills )
S2 19C 7W 50 (LR was easy,left the RC on romantic poetry...which means 7W in VA+RC )
Don't take it too much to heart.. you've been improving by leaps & bounds.. one or two dips in scores help in preventing complacency from creeping in...
I was facing the same prob from 1306 onwards... jst made a silent promise to improve my OA in every mock henceforth by limiting my errors rather than attempting more... Your scores don't reflect the true picture... External factors/temperament & mindset etc play a significant role too...
On a personal note, Inflated scores at the very end tend to do more harm than good.. Think of it as a learning opportunity, analyze your mistakes & come back stronger than ever in the upcoming mocks..
P.S: I 'm not one to advice others on mock scores as i'm in the same boat more often than not...
@Kevin88 I found it while writing it a mock. Can't remember if it was an MC, CRT or AIMCAT. Can you just explain the basic terms like face value, return on investment etc and the relationship between the terms ?
Dude nobody will be able to predict the kind of questions they are going to include in actual CAT. Time and CL are just following last years trend where they dint ask any FIJ questions. But it was asked in previous CAT papers. As it was told by CAT director that there wont be much surprises this year we can assume they more or less stick to CAT 2011 pattern itself. Also to be on the safer side practice all different kind of questions from last 4-5 years CAT papers.
Regarding RCs ,last year the 3 RCs i got was of medium length. Not that big as what time is providing nor as short as CL RCs. 10 questions was asked last year from RCs alone (3+3+4).
Again to be safe practice big RCs thereby u can build up some more speed before actual CAT.:)
I second raku's opinion.. CL & TIME are jst following the previous yr trend.. On a personal note FIJ's fall on a sort of grey area for me Usually have a strike rate of P.S: Any one knows who to solve the LR Q's involving relationships b/w different statements provided. Eg: Questions of the type p=> q , ~p->-q etc. I always get them wrong !!
Could some one post the rules/logic behind how to approach such q's ? Anyone have links to some material i can practice from ?
Regarding RC's... Unlike raku.. I on the other hand had a mixed bag.. 1 Long & 2 medium in length.. However the long one was straight forward & an interesting read !! The Q's for the other two were vague
@seetharam7 : Practice FIJs to be on the safer side...and regarding RCs...for me I had kinda long RCs last tym with 1 being super tough...anyways...regarding verbal as @rohan_bhasker once told me...its better to treat it as bloody big LR section...ull be better off that way i guess...atleast it works for me these days :)
1.Every deduction should contain three and only three distinct terms.
2.The middle term must be distributed at least once in the premises.
3.If one premise is negative, then the conclusion must be negative.
4.If one premise is particular, then the conclusion must be particular.
5.If both the premises are negative,no conclusion can be drawn.
6.If both the premises are particular,no conclusion can be drawn.
7.No term can be distributed in the conclusion,if it is not distributed in the premises.
@seetharam7 Bro.. the thread is huge...could you provide a link if any ?
P.S : For some reason this thread has started losing its vitality.. c'mon guys.. jst spend 5 min here & post something which can aid the other...somehow..anyhow...!!
I do know that most of you guyz are busy & hell bent on utilizing each & every moment in preparing.. but c'mon... I wrk 9-12 hr shifts & still find time to post atleast once in a day !!! Anyway just an observation/ suggestion from my end !!!
I couldn't find a specific thread. 😞 Anyways, the rules you have posted can be applied only if there are 2 premises and 1 conclusion. In all other cases, i think you have to use venn diagrams.
Also, in case of these questions, it's better to use elimination of options using rules 3,4,5,6.
