@thevicky Have posted the link above
@seetharam7 - I saw it only after posting my prev comment. Thanks dude.
@seetharam7 - I'm not able to download them. Can you send me the first 2 ?
@thevicky PM me your email id.

Guys , could anyone explain to me how the min value comes out to be 5 ?
Was getting A:B:C = X-4 : X+2 : X+2
Dont understand the methodology after that ?
I just took x=5
Then A:B:C=1:7:7 ==> X+Y+Z=15

@Kevin88 Hey, i made the same mistake. The values for A,B,C are 6,12,12. Try with those. So ratio is 1:2:2. Therefore 5. 1:7:7 also satisfies, but it isn't the minimum.

Take X= 10,
ull get A:B:C = 6:12:12. ie, 1:2:2.

So that sum A+B+C is minimum which is 5.

@raku1989 @seetharam7 So does it reduce to a trial & error methodology after that ?
Is there any other way of zoning into the value x=10 ?

See X-4: X+2 :X+2 u can write it as

Y : Y+6 : Y+6. The min possible ratio for this is 1:2:2 (at Y=6). There is no need to try out different options in this case.
@raku1989
Oh!! It now looks so simple!!
This Q is another testament of the fact, that cat tests your temperament more than your aptitude.
In the heat of the moment, had thought we had to find the min total instead of the min ratio & bloody 15 had to be one of the options!!
@Kevin88 Well said !

Hey people,i'm in a dilemma.. So i asked a lot of people about IIM I mumbai option..and i have received many different answers..the one thing on which they all agree is that if i am leaving IIM I Mumbai ,it should be to join a top 10 college. That's what i want as well,but given my preparation(or the lack of it) and the unpredictable nature of CAT,i'm not confident that i can get that 99.5%ile that i need. With that in mind,the options that i have are:

1) Join TCS and write CAT (Get a bit of work ex, more time to prepare for CAT,better in monetary terms)
2) Join IIM I Mumbai and write CAT (Good option to have even if don't get into ABCL XL FMS, IIM I will be in charge of placements, IIM I director is putting a lot of weight behind the program,at least one term with IIM I students,small batch size,mumbai..on the flip-side, no hostels or campus,first batch and the uncertainty that goes with it )

What would you do if you were in my shoes?

@pradyothcjohn

I would be out partying with those shoes

But seriously, it comes down to 'what you really want from an MBA' ?
Since you have yet to start working, my suggestion would be to gain some experience first.
Any stint in the corporate world especially a hardass mechanical firm (again my personal opinion) can make one truly rediscover oneself...

What ever option you choose whether it be A or B, its you who has to finally slog it out with all the Jack's, D**'s & Harry's of the world to go up the ladder.

A big disadvantage i see from IIM I Mumbai, is the absence of hostels,campuses etc.
Hell, isn't that one among the prime reasons one goes to an IIM - to interact & learn from the best minds in the country - the relationships & the contacts you make would be your greatest takeaways

An added advantage in delaying your decision, opens up a lot of avenues such as GMAT, XPGP courses etc. which require some bit of experience before applying.
You can even avoid that added expense of going for a second MBA, which is now a common trend among managers

Finally, ' WHY COMPROMISE ON YOUR DREAM !!
If not this year, bro i definitely feel your IIM material !!!

Cheers !!!

I had booked my slot for 8pm. I completely forgot about it. I opened my mail at 8 and sent @thevicky the CL mock pdfs. After mailing, i thought i will make sure of the date of the AIMCAT. Then saw that it was 20:00pm !! Started the mock after quickly taking a bath and eating dinner. Started at 8.25

Finally a balanced score !!

Hey Team... @pugna @seetharam7 @raku1989 @rohan_bhasker @spdspd @joethaliath @pradyothcjohn @thevicky @brandnewrap @sriraman89 @dead_alive @vinmohcetvmklm

Kinda embarassed in posting this doubt- very basic stuff but somehow i cant seem to wrap my head around the underlying concept & always end up screwing up the Q..

I believe most of you have come across the funda:
The no of ways of selecting 2 Nos 'a' & 'b' such that their product is N. (Unordered Pairs)
If N= (p^x)*(q^y)*(r^z)
No of ways = ((x+1)(y+1)(z+1)) / 2 (Assuming N is not a perfect square)
For ordered Pairs : (x+1)(y+1)(z+1)

Recently i came across the following post :
"Suppose we have to find the number of ways in which an ordered pair (a, b), where a and b are natural numbers, can be chosen such that LCM of a and b is (p^x)*(q^y)*(r^z)*..
Total number of such ordered pairs = (2x + 1)(2y + 1)(2z + 1)..

Had the question been that in how many ways two numbers can be choosen such that their LCM is (p^x)*(q^y)*(r^z)*...,
then the answer would be {(2x + 1)(2y + 1)(2z + 1).... + 1}/2
I have seen the above formulas (both) been used in a large no of questions but am unable to fathom what exactly is the difference b/w the two...
Could anyone here clear my doubt ?

P.S : It would be helpful if someone could post some examples where both are used ?

@seetharam7 .. well done πŸ˜ƒ .. maintain the same from now on :)
@Kevin88 ahem..i have no clue 😁
@Kevin88 I am too lazy to think Will check it out 1st thing tomo morning.

in the mean time , i also seem to be improving... been touching near 50s in sec2 in the last 2 mocks πŸ˜ƒ

took CL UP mock 5 today

Sec1 - 10c 2w - 28
Sec2 - 17c 4w - 47

oa - 27c 6w - 75

Heartening to see that my sec2 accuracy has picked up πŸ˜ƒ but have to buckle up in sec1
