Guys , could anyone explain to me how the min value comes out to be 5 ?
Was getting A:B:C = X-4 : X+2 : X+2
Dont understand the methodology after that ?
I just took x=5
Then A:B:C=1:7:7 ==> X+Y+Z=15

Is there any other way of zoning into the value x=10 ?

@Kevin88 said: @raku1989 @seetharam7 So does it reduce to a trial & error methodology after that ? Is there any other way of zoning into the value x=10 ?
Oh!! It now looks so simple!!

This Q is another testament of the fact, that cat tests your temperament more than your aptitude.
In the heat of the moment, had thought we had to find the min total instead of the min ratio

& bloody 15 had to be one of the options!! Hey people,i'm in a dilemma.. So i asked a lot of people about IIM I mumbai option..and i have received many different answers..the one thing on which they all agree is that if i am leaving IIM I Mumbai ,it should be to join a top 10 college. That's what i want as well, but given my preparation(or the lack of it) and the unpredictable nature of CAT,i'm not confident that i can get that 99.5%ile that i need. With that in mind, the options that i have are:
What would you do if you were in my shoes?
I would be out partying with those shoes

But seriously, it comes down to 'what you really want from an MBA' ?
Since you have yet to start working, my suggestion would be to gain some experience first.
Any stint in the corporate world especially a hardass mechanical firm (again my personal opinion) can make one truly rediscover oneself...
What ever option you choose whether it be A or B, its you who has to finally slog it out with all the Jack's, D**'s & Harry's of the world to go up the ladder.
A big disadvantage i see from IIM I Mumbai, is the absence of hostels, campuses etc.

Hell, isn't that one among the prime reasons one goes to an IIM - to interact & learn from the best minds in the country - the relationships & the contacts you make would be your greatest takeaways
An added advantage in delaying your decision, opens up a lot of avenues such as GMAT, XPGP courses etc. which require some bit of experience before applying.
You can even avoid that added expense of going for a second MBA, which is now a common trend among managers
Finally, ' WHY COMPROMISE ON YOUR DREAM !!
If not this year, bro i definitely feel your IIM material !!!
Cheers !!!
AIMCAT 1305
After mailing, i thought i will make sure of the date of the AIMCAT. Then saw that it was 20:00pm !!
Started the mock after quickly taking a bath and eating dinner. Started at 8.25
Hey Team...
Kinda embarassed in posting this doubt- very basic stuff but somehow i cant seem to wrap my head around the underlying concept & always end up screwing up the Q..

I believe most of you have come across the funda:
The no of ways of selecting 2 Nos 'a' & 'b' such that their product is N. (Unordered Pairs)
If N= (p^x)*(q^y)*(r^z)
No of ways = ((x+1)(y+1)(z+1)) / 2 (Assuming N is not a perfect square)
For ordered Pairs : (x+1)(y+1)(z+1)
Recently i came across the following post :
"Suppose we have to find the number of ways in which an ordered pair (a, b), where a and b are natural numbers, can be chosen such that LCM of a and b is (p^x)*(q^y)*(r^z)*..
Total number of such ordered pairs = (2x + 1)(2y + 1)(2z + 1)..
Had the question been that in how many ways two numbers can be choosen such that their LCM is (p^x)*(q^y)*(r^z)*...,
then the answer would be {(2x + 1)(2y + 1)(2z + 1).... + 1}/2
I have seen the above formulas (both) been used in a large no of questions but am unable to fathom what exactly is the difference b/w the two...
Could anyone here clear my doubt ?
P.S : It w
in the mean time , i also seem to be improving... been touching near 50s in sec2 in the last 2 mocks π
Will check it out 1st thing tomo morning.
