For advertising(brand management, etc), the best place to study for a Masters would be MICA, Ahmedabad.

For journalism- Asian College of Journalism, Chennai
Xaviers (Mumbai), Symbiosis(Pune), Indian Institute of Mass Communication (New Delhi).
I've heard that these are supposed to be the best.

The best institute in India to study mass communication is the A.J.Kidwai Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Milia Islamia University, New Delhi. This is followed by IIMC, New Delhi and SIMC (symbi), Pune.

If you want to go for communications and advertising, then the best in Asia is MICA, Ahmedabad.

my ultimate aim is to get into film industry as a script writer ,there is also other option open 4 me like i can give exam of FTI, pune but they also want some previous experience in the pertaining field and i don have any .
so u pls tell me wat is the best option 4 me so that if i might not get into film industry i can still earn some money on my own!!

Although the impression might be that one needs a degree of some sort to get into the film industry, just take a look at the profiles of all film scriptwriters in India... know any certified mass comm ? 😉 Or for that matter, any masscomm doing anything at all in film industry? Not till far far away

Can't suggest to you a way to get into the film industry except the casting couch , but a masscomm degree will help you get into ad-filmmaking or documentaries, which is much more respectable and rewarding option then films... opinions may vary.
For that, the best place to be at is AJ Kidwai Mass comm Research Center at Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi. FTII... is more about strikes than studies. It'll most probably get you into the CPI(M)

Apurv
any idea abt wat is tha pattern of th entrance exams

c'mon guys waz happenin how have u become so dumb i earnestly want ur replies :!: :!:

Hurray,
the FTII (Pune) offers a one-year course in feature film screenplay writing...
It's a one year course, and all graduates are eligible..

heyyyyyy...well atleast tell ur name???!!!!..well i am doing bcom (H) from delhi university..m also interested in this field..i have explored various options and as per my survey.. indian institute of masscommunication n jamia hamdard university-both in delhi are THE BEST..
THE ENTRANCE TEST for dem is held in may/june but is aVERYVERY TOUGH ...
besides u have symbiosis institute of masscomm-pune..dats a 2yr course, unlike da above which are of 1yr postgraduate degree..

few years back, the times of india and the pioneer newspapers have also opened up their media schools-both are in delhi,,and they are emerging as good institutes offering very good placements, and getting there isnot that tough..so look for dem too...

besides..xaviers institute of masscomm in mumbai is also a good option..if u wana go for journalism u have asian college of journalism in chennai..
well il let u know if i get to know anything else..u can visit sites of all these colleges..just type their names in search..

i want to do masscomm..and da institutes u mentioned..great thanks so much..but considering iimc-newdelhi..da scene there is like around 30,000 applicants and seats just 15 for general out of 40..as rest are oder categories..so DO WE REALLY HAVE ANY CHANCE DEAR?????
dat is y i wana know oder options..iwana know about the times school of journalism and pioneer media school opened by the newspapers..so are they equally good?do they offer good placements???

besides..well for journalism u said asian college -even i searched it is among the top10 schools for masscomm..but the why is its name so unfamiliar with everyone-?--in the media industry does it give me an edge????...

also tell me..that between an mba and a masscomm student the former will be preferred rite?so can i enter dis field after doing an mba?as it further widens my knowledge base...

sonya,
be very sure what u want to do in media......
mass comm in itself is huge..so wat is it u want to get into.....pr? advtg? journalism?.....accordingly u will have options

if its journalism...mba is out of question...frankly for print u dnt even need a mass comm degree.just an above average english aptitude and .but yes for broadcast u do...so a journalism n mass comm degree is right
dunno much about times school n the like..will try to find out if i can n let ya and other aspirants know......other than this asian school of journalism is best option and also jamia milia wins hands down anyday....u cud also try for Xaviers in mumbai.

if its advtg/pr........u cud go the mba-in communications way.....mica/symbi is a good option....and yes sophia's in mumbai is good enough for pr.
