As the Shortlisting process of IIM-Shillong has been declared on the website, the Normalization of Chartered Accountancy as a Discipline for selection for GD/PI Process has a major flaw in it. The normalization of Scores across CA discipline has following errors :
1) Normalization process allots a Score of -2 and -2.5 for a Score of 45% in CA whereas for an indvidual to become a CA, he has to attain 50% overall marks in the Final Exam. Hence a CA with 45 % marks does not exist.
2) A Normalized Score of +1.5 is alloted to a CA with marks more than 80.5% whereas the all india topper for CA for Past ten years has Never been close to that. The merit rankers in CA i.e Top 50 all India Candidates score around 60-70 percent marks.
3) It gives a score of -1 to candidates like me who scored 464/800 i.e 58.00% marks and cleared CA examinations in their First attempt by losing the merit by few marks.
It is a really concerning issue we as Chartered Accountant Professionals do not score much marks due to difficulty level of exams and majority of us ( almost more than 75% of pass candidates ) score from 400 to 460 marks in our exams. Even the pass percentage of CA is only 10 to 12 percent. Its really disturbing as I have qualified the overall cutoff but unable to get a call for GD/PI due to such calculation error. Kindly everyone write to IIM shillong at the earliest as one more year of wait to enter MBA means a lot to aspirants like us.
Hey, i know its really late..however i would like to know hoe did it all panned out for you.
