hey..

even I have submitted my app for the MS-MBA program at BU in the R1 deadline but haven't heard from them yet.. (and that seems scary cos the decision date is dec 15)

anyway, do post any updates from ur side...

I know.. its kinda scary.. I spoke to someone at the Admissions office who said that interviews are not a mandatory requirement for admissions.

So whats ur profile like?

oh damn! now that adds on to the nervousness... I presumed interviews to be compulsory, if shortlisted..

hmm... my profile...

GMAT - 650 (here's all the tension)
TOEFL - 108
Work Ex - 3 years in IT..
Acads - Good
Extra Curr - Excellent

whats ur profile like? and where all are u applying?

Hey,We'r on the same boat brother lolMy profile:GMAT - 650TOEFL - 114Work Ex: 3.5 Yrs (Post UG) 2 Yrs (During UG). The quality of my work ex is pretty decent though. I was instrumental in my company (Satyam) bagging a new client. I have been promoted twice in 3 yrs though and that too in a company which has a pretty shitty promotion policy so i consider this as a major achievment. Worked 6 months in Europe, 2 months in Australia and I have been in the US for the last 13 monthsAcads - Ok ok types. 63% BE Comp Sc.Extra Curr - Excellent. Done some gud stuff.. I'm a Military Brat so that has certainly helped me.Anywayz all this doesnt matter if i dont make the cut..I've applied to U-Pitt and UC Irvine (Done with interviews for both) I will also apply to Kelley and G.Tech in Jan 09.Keep n touch.. n Gud LuckCheersSam

hi guys
i had submitted my application, was invited for interview, and now results awaited.
My interview was way back... October-1...
hope that indicates something

Your interview was on the 1st of October!! Wow.. I did not know that BU follows a rolling admission process. Anywayz lets all hope for the best. There aint nothing much that can be done. I have submitted my application on the 13th of November.

BTW whats ur profile like?

I guess captainzapak interviewed during the MBA fair. If he didn't, it is way too early... (or they are actually reviewing the application on 'rolling-basis')

I submitted the application a couple of days before the first round deadline and invited for the interview on 11th Nov. Scheduled the interview on the same day (the e-mail has a link to a website which allow you to schedule the interview) Made phone interview yesterday... It was quite formal... asking the following questions... Did I do well? To be honest, not that satisfied with my performance.

1) Please go over your work history on the resume for me
2) Why MBA? Why BU?
3) What was your leadership experience?
4) Etc. (ethic challenge, the problem solving experience, etc.)

the interview lasted about 30 min.

The interviewer was nice but quite formal... There are some interview information on 'accepted.com'. It will be helpful for you. The interviewer said the I'll be infomed about the decision by 15th Dec. I hope to hear some good news but not sure because I slipped on some question.

Hi,

Can u please let me know what e-mail are u Referring to? I did not get any e-mail to schedule for an interview.

Thanks
Sam

I've got the e-mail entitled 'INTERVIEW INVITATION FROM BOSTON UNIVERSITY'. It was an invitation e-mail which includes a passcode used to schedule an interview.

Hi,

So thats what it is.. An interview invite.. cool.. Congratulations! I did not get an invite yet.. Mayb i got dinged.. 😞

Anywayz all the best.. Hope u get thru.. So whats ur profile like? Which other schools have u applied to?

Thanks, sam. I really appreciate it. I wish you good luck, too.
The following is my profile...

GMAT:650 / 4.0 (The weakest part...)
Academic: Acquired MS Engineering in the US. Average GPA
Work History: R&D; Engineer/Samsung Electornics (4 yrs)
Technology Specialist/Hedge Fund (1 yr)
Extra Curr.: Strong

I should have worked on GMAT more... Anyway, I'm applying
to Carroll, Fuqua, Darden and more... (God... How much should
I invest for the application fee.)

Anyway, good luck guys... We'll get through after all...

Hey guys, me too in the fray.... i submitted my application on Nov 15th and got an interview invite on Nov 19th.... i scheduled an interview for Dec 6th here at Bangalore. Unfortunately, I got a mail from Elisabeth saying that the interview has been cancelled and that she will try and accomodate me in a phone slot which is already heavily booked... has anyone else got such a response...? If dec 15th is the decision date then I dont know how they will be able to schedule an interview...

Anyway my profile

GMAT - 740. TOEFL - 117
Acads - good
EC - good
WE - 4 yrs by fall 09 in IT, function - banking

Got my interview today, in a few hours. I live the Boston area so will be going on campus. My profile 730/3 yrs WE/ very good acads/not many EC activities.

Done! Standard interview...no trick ques. Very formal. The interviewer noted down every word i said

cool... atb to u...
btw, have u applied to the MBA program or MS-MBA?

I haven't heard anything from the university yet, so don't have too many hopes... I had submitted my app on the last day of the deadline and because of my TOEFL scores coming in late, I was told that my app would be reviewed only once all the already-complete apps were through...lets see what happens..
in any case... its nice to hear the interview experiences...

Hey! I had one too and my admit is confirmed at BU! Actually it makes sense to prepare a lot for the interview....one of my interviewers was actually a finance faculty too (Dr. Nalin). Lots of general questions like - why M.B.A now? What is your focus area? Some of the were a bit too deep like - which area within finance is your expertise! They did not get very technical - but spent some 25 minutes knowing more about me.

I even emailed some slides on my projects after the interview. I got the confirmation a few days after and am already in touch with them for some funding/assistantship. Owe it quite a bit to a prof. who is himself a New york MBA. He did my entire application and some really superb essays. See if it helps. I have his no. as 9820819895.

All the best!
Prakash
