Hi all,

I think this is the most important qustion in the mind of most of the
aspirants out there esp those like me who will take up loans to
finance their studies and will definatly want to work there for few
years to pay back loan............

Answer to this question depends on several factors like job scenario,
immigration policy, most importantly worthinss of education in India
in case one has to come back immidiately after completion of
course...... As per my study in the last few months i am presnting a
brief analysis on different countries.........

USA: Undoubtedly most sought after study destination in the world....
US education has its own pros and cons but still it is dream of every
one to study there.......... As one relies on second hand information
it says that US economy has reachd a level of saturation and is now
unable to accomodate more professionals or more MBAs to be precise,
this is what you get from internet and consultants which want you to
study in Australia or UK but according to a person living in USA,who
is my business client, if you want a job in US and you are non
residnt you shold be an MBA, he added that job for an MBA in US is a
Cakewalk. this is what on gets on the job scenario in USA. As far as
standard of education and worthiness goes, there is no need to discuss
this.US ducation is always considered on a higher note in India.

Australia: Presntly it is second favourite country for further
studies for indian studnts. Australian education systm is really good
and devloping rapidly......Jobs are almost impossible to find and one
has to come back, this is what most of the articls and forums portray
but consultants say that it is easy to get a PR if you choose
subjects like accounts etc and jobs are also not that tough if you
are graduating from these subjcts. Some current studnts and residents
also agrees that jobs are available if you are from unis lik AGSM
MGSM UTS Monash etc. One important question with Australian
education is its low worthiness in India as so many students are
flocking to some not so popular and univrsities with low repute.

UK: Home to some of the most reputed universities and oldest study
destination around the world.....UK education is always considered
good and is always accpted in our country with a smile.....but again
as job scenario goes, getting job in UK is almost imposssible for a
non resident, this is what you come to know from all sources..... but
is one year visa given by UK govt is a major attraction? can it fetch
you a job? this remains a big question atlest for me...... If you are
studying in SCOTLAND they give you 2 years' visa but I dont have any
ida about job scenario in Scotland.........

These three are the major destinations for pursuing MBA but there are
several other countries which are offering quality course curriculum
and better opportunities. But I am confused between these three only
(esp US and Australia).........

I am highly confused and in a state of losing many opportunities....
I will really appreciate if anyone can throw some light on this issue
as PG remains my last hope to gain this information because this is
the only place where one can have actual unbiased infomation.....
Guys I m looking for some responses so that I can choose my course of
action and make a right decision........

(I am planning to write GMAT arnd 20-25 oct.)

No destination is a cakewalk. Even with a Harvard MBA, the US job market can be a challenge. Remember, even the best MBA never guarantees a job. When the economy and the job-market are fair, the MBA is a way to get opportunities to network with people/professionals and apply to / interview with companies.

The MBA curriculum is generally the same everywhere - modes of delivery differ. So choose what you want to functionally do (like marketing, finance, operations, strategy), which industry / company(s) you want to work for (consulting, banking, manufacturung, FMCG) and where you want to work (US or Europe or Asia).

The facts you've stated below are not greatly different from the circumstances faced by many of your predecessors who did MBAs abroad.

Worry about the GMAT for now

Folks,
I did not have a 100000 USD and 2 years spare time so US was out.
Check this link :

LBS and INSEAD are also very expensive and UK aint very good for jobs.
Definitely did not want to do an MBA in India as you dont reap the benefits of work ex after graduation(and me with 10 years work ex that meant a lot).
ISB is an exception now.
If the Melbourne (MBS) MBA was going to cost less than 50000 USD and could be completed in 16-20 months that is where I applied and will join the Jan 2007 batch.
The quality of education is excellent and the reputation of profs is more so (read that as Ex Harvard profs).
It is going to be difficult to get placed after an MBA no matter which country you go to.
The campus placements at MBS are nothing to write home about. At the same time it is a preferred school for Strategy consulting companies (but number of reqcruits is low). But you do find jobs with some hard work and luck. And melbourne is one of the best cities to live and work in. 😃

kunj, i think ur facts are slightly off-track - getting a job in US is easy, granted but not without a green card..getting something on H1 is very tough for international students (even for top 10 schools) as compared to IT or Engg where there is shortage here..Australia is not the 2nd most preferred - where did u come up with this? Compared to this, UK & Canada have a lot of top tier schools with Canadian immigration more easy, which lets you access to jobs without the visa problems.
