Hi. I'm a Mechanical Engineer for the Govt. of India and have a total of 5 years of work-experience.

Here's some info about my profile:

1. Worked at Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) for about 10 months.

2. Working for the govt. of India as a mechanical engineer. Area of focus on the design side/new product development for the Indian Army.

3. Level 1 candidate in the CFA program.

I'm going to apply to a few B-Schools this year. I want to make a career in a top automotive/Engineering and Operations firm post-MBA.

However, I'm not sure about various options I have. In fact, to be honest, I know nothing about the post-MBA career options in the industry of my choice. I don't know which areas to focus on if I want to work in the mentioned industry?

I'm personally interested in going for a profile which will set me up for a spot at the highest level of management in the automotive/Engineering and Operations industry. I intend to start at the new product development/project management side. I'm not sure which MBA majors should I opt for that match my interests. In fact, it's a weird situation. I have enrolled into the CFA program and even wrote the L1 exam the result for which will be out in a few days. However, now I feel I'm not sure how the CFA fits into my grand scheme of things. Should I even mention that in my application?

In short, I know where to reach and I also know that I need an MBA from a top institution for that. However, I'm not sure what path to take to get there and neither am I sure that my background will help me with my long-term goals.

Could the more experienced members here please help me out with this?
