Hi,
Don't ever lose hope, I wish you all the very best.

quote=zylyz;912398]Dear Sir...converting a negative comment into a positive solution is the only strategy one needs to learn in life...
But as u and i both know legal solution would not be feasible for both parties involved here...
I wish i would have joined pagalguy or other forums earlier but being in service one rarely gets time to do the needful...
Regardsless it would have been my privilege to come and learn something from you....
One last thing since i have not solved english at all ...knowing now that SIBM is going to have sectional cuttoffs should i apply to SIBM...

PS: next time sir i hope that SIBM and SNAP org will be kindful enough to mention such important details as sectional cutoff directly in the paper...instead of just putting the information in some forum...it would help solve a lot of problem for both parties involved....
Also since i see that the Cuttoff this year will be well over 120...excluding SIBM which college should i apply to...or should i include SIBM in my application list...
Thanks&Regards...;

Sirji....no further arguments....
Should i apply to SIBM...as i mentioned i did not do english section...
hence i was able to complete the rest of the 3 sections with good accuracy...
...
Pls sir...a simple answer ...would solve a lot of queries...
I figure as a lot of people are still unaware of sectional cut offs...SIBM will have to reconsider an alterante solution...here..that would be the only hope here....in that case applying to SIBM would be a wise decision for me..

Hi Geminigal,
You can submit a copy of the admit card as it has your registration number also.

Regards,
Pranab.

Sir please could you answer my query.

Thanks

Hi,(meri marzi :)). Its our university policy.
Regards,
pranab.
is their any particular reason behind collecting the question paper after the exam???

Hi Cheerz,
I am listening and have already noted your suggestions which I will put up in the university. Keep them coming. Best of luck.

Regards,
Pranab.

Sssup peeps.
Must say.. it was shockin not to find the line stating that "competence is required in all the sections" while I scaned thru the first page of the question paper.. Though I knew bout this rule (coutesy: pagalguy), I was a li'l confused whether SIBM changed its mind or not. Though I attempted enuf questions in all the sections.. but really feel sorry 4 those who will clear 90+ overall but won't make it because of the ignorance shown by SIBM (Apologies if I'm being blunt). Am just hopin that SIBM doesn;t change its mind bout sectional cuttoffs coz ppl assumin that there are cutoffs will feel cheated. There were also quite a few test takers who went 4 eng and compromised on QA and vice versa to maximise their scores.
Here's a suggestion.. A proper way to determine the cuttoffs wud be to set a %age..
Say for eg - 25% per section or say 20% (in case of GK). A candidate shd atleast have around 10 per section. In case of LR, cuttoff can be a li'l higher.
Hope Mr Pranab is listening.

Cheerz

Hi Koni,
Your guess would be as good as mine, the scanning process for your answer papers has started today and you will get your results by 7th Jan, 2008.

Pranab.

waiting for reply

Waiting 4 ur reply.

Hi,
Students who apply to Symbiosis are among the smartest in the country and its always a pleasure to interact with them. As far as sectional cut offs go, it should not affect anyone as I am sure that all students would have attempted most questions anyway.

Regards,
Pranab.

I am quite sporadic at pagalguy forums, But this is a complete shocker for me - SIBM's decision for having sectional cutoff's , I didnt find this mentioned at any of sites sibm.edu or snaptest.org or on SNAP paper , now when I am visiting this thread after giving SNAP ,I am getting an eye opener . Personally this wont hamper my own performance as I have attempted all sections quite well and I have attempted above 130 marks with decent accuracy.,even in Last year SNAP ,I had attempted all section's equally ,(this strategy I follow in every paper ,whether there is sectional cutoff's or not )!!! But going from above posts ,it seems that different test taker's adopt different startegy to clear cut-off's !! I am really amazed a Nationally renowned Institute like SIBM has behaved so unprofessionally, My surmise is that of all the Test taker's in India only 40 -45 % visit Pagalguy and in particular half of them may have visited this ' SPECIAL 'SIBM thread. If thr are sectional cut -off's why wasn't it mentioned on SNAP paper or SIBM's site .(I havent purchased SIBM's Brochure yet)!!

Also Deep , I dont think ppl who have attempted all sections equally are at any disadvantage (if only Overall score is taken ) rather than those who have neglected a particular section completely , ignorant of SIBM's new adventure .

Hoping for reply from SIBM........................

Hi Manubob,
Your guess is as good as mine, wait for the results.

Hi Shashi,
You have quoted Lincoln: "Always bear in mind that your own RESOLUTION to succceed is more important than any one thing". This should be your motto for life. We does not deter any good student to be part of SIBM. Best of luck.

Pranab.

Dear Sir,
Following are my credentials:
Xth ICSE 87% 1999
XIIth CBSE 85% 2001
Bachelor of Engineering MIT(Pune) 66% 2005
Post Graduation Diploma in Advanced Computing ACTS Pune 69% 2006
From ACTS Pune I got in campus placement in an IT firm in Pune.
So, I have been working since Sept 2006 and by Dec 2007 I will have an experience of 15 months.
I have worked on two packaged software
1)Mircomuse NetCool and as a part of the project team I have got an award for "BEST INNOVATION"
2)Right now i am working in Siebel a CRM Software .
Unfortunately I met with a near fatal accident on May 30th 2007 and my leg was in plaster for 3 months and till date I am undergoing physiotherapy. So i was on medical leave from June 1st till Nov 18th.
Is this going to reflect negatively in my interview?Kindly tell me your views on the same.

Shashi
aishu.comar Says
I expect a score of about 75. I may clear the total cut off but my GK score will not be higher than 3.5-4.. Would i get a call from SIBM, B'lore?

I think this went unnoticed.. sir could you pls. enlighten me?

Dear Sir,

The below reasoning isnt suffice fr me(my critical reasoning is very strong) !!! Why cant SIBM on it's part accept that discrepancy has been made on their part, and their will be some measures to cover it as far as possible,so that no aspirant looses in a major way!!(A solution beneficial to all parties!!) ,rather than finding reasons to validate the claim. I completely agree that Best student's try to attempt all the Q's ,regardless of sectional cutoff's leaving hardly any Q' in any section ,as I have already said even I have attempted paper quite decently ,unawares of sectional cut-off.

Chalo leave the issue, we will all abide by whatever stance ADmission section of prestigious Institute decides....

few Queries
1)I have read in mbageeks.com ,one of SIBM student Gurpreet has said that sectional cut-off wld be pre-decided (unlike CAT)
-10%, or 20% in each section ,Is it true? This is I think is a very good solution ,wherin no particular population of test taker's would be at any disadvantage!!!

2) Also when will the college shift to new campus ,currently I suppose it is still on Senapati Bapat Marg, Is June 2008 a likely date??

See there is avery logical error in the entire Sectional cutoff scenario....
Reason1.if you want to apply to SIBM only then clear all sections....But since that is very difficult ....do reasonably well in all sections but the your over all score goes down....Reason2.if your overall score goes down...you miss out on rest of snap colleges...which do not have a sectional cuttoff....
Hence the 2 arguments are contradicting one another....
Either have sectional Cutoff for all colleges or none at all....in that case you can have a uniform plane for comparison...

Or if you can find a student who clears all.....Then ...he might not take the admission to SIBM.....because .....he will clear CAT and take admission in IIM...who needs SNAP yar....haha...
Ok guys..
Here's a suggestion I'm putting forward for Mr Pranab.. Hope u guys agree
As I mentioned in my previous post that all applicants may have tried to maximise their attempts in LR.. so cuttoff for LR shdn't be a prob.. ultimately if the accuracy in this section is poor he/she mite lose out. Also, since many of us may have compromised on the number of attempts in one section to maximse the score in other sections to boost their overall score(OS), the sectional cuttoffs for these sections shd be low..
say for eg. if a candidate attempted 35 questions in VA to maximise his, he/she may have attempted 12-15 odd questions in QA and vice versa.. so why not have a minimum cuttoff of say 15% i.e 6 for these sections or even if 6 is low then 20%. Since LR was easy and assuming all of us must have spent considerable time on this section.. cuttoff 4 this section cud be higher..
So I feel cuttoffs shd be as follow
QA - 08 - 20%
VA - 08 - 20%
GK - 10 - 25%
LR - 30 - 50%

Whats say??

P.S. - I myself have scored less than 10 in G.K.. so pls don't have ne ideas ;)
I think this shd be fine with the applicants and ofcourse, MR PRANAB... Who I guess is still listening ;)
hehehe

Cheerz

Or if you can find a student who clears all.....Then ...he might not take the admission to SIBM.....because .....he will clear CAT and take admission in IIM...who needs SNAP yar....haha...
But
Then ....like Students compete for Good colleges...Colleges also need good Student....SIBM would then loose a good no...as not all were aware of this sectional cutoff...i guess even now many are still unaware of Sectional cut offs..

I think too that sectional cut-off is a good idea....but yar....
First...no information was printed...anywhere...baring a few forums...
Second...for same paper...you cannot have 2 test taking Strategies...either you maximize your score ....now here i mean to the fullest...or you can try and clear all sections...then you might affect your scores...

Yes you can do both...but then...if one can perform such feat....he might have already cleared other exams easily....
A Prisoner's dilemma....

dear sir, i just bought the sibm prospectus and application form, it says i hae 2 send the snap registration form. wat shd i do abt this?its not available on the website anymore. shd i send a xerox copy of my admit card?plz reply

Hi..

Sir,
Thnx 4 ur prompt response.
This is news 2 me and a really shocking one indeed as i ws really intrstd in dat prgme!!!
Nywyz, so does dat mean dat uve increased ur intake in d dual prgme, or dat remains d same??
Further, dis being d 1st batch at d blore campus, so hvin d same cutoff i.e ineffect equating d pune campus dat's 35 yrs old wid d new blore campus doesnt seem fair too me, but its ur call!!!
Lastly, wat is d combined intake thn frm dis yr onwards?

Sir, I want to draw your attention to the query I have posted on Page 36. Please find it pasted below.

Sir,

I have in all 2.5+ years of experience in IT in Finance, Telecommunications and Messaging Domains. And I want to further my career in IT and hence am looking forward to a course which will strengthen my technological base and teach me managerial concepts related to IT. I nurse entrepreneurial aspirations after few more years of value adding work ex.

Considering that SIBM will add IT as one of the electives from this year i.e. for the first time, I would be thankful if you can give me details on the points below:
1) Course structure: Will this be industry driven? How will be balanced .. Technology and Management wise?
2) Entrepreneurship: How will this be encouraged? For ex: IIM A lets the students participate in the campus process even if they are 2yr old pass outs just to increase the risk appetite of the students.
3) Placement opportunities.
4) Infrastructure at Bangalore.

Thanks and Regards.
Swapnil.
