Hi, I have gone through your message and I personally feel that sectional cutffs should have been announced earlier, hence we are trying to propagate this message in all fora like CWS, Pagalguy etc. Secondly, if you do feel that SITM can help your career better than SIBM, I wish you luck and hope your dreams come true.

Before SNAP, i thought that the sectional cut-offs for SIBM would be mentioned on the SNAP paper atleast coz that way you can really make sure that everyone knows about it. And nobody questions about it later. However, I was a bit disappointed. Altough, I knew the sectional cut-offs rule, i was left wondering about the chances of 1000's of others who did not know about it. They would have gone ahead and attempted the paper as they would attempt in the previous years i.e. to maximize only their overall score even at the cost of scoring too few in certain section(s).
Anyway, I do hope that this doesn't have a reverse impact now if SIBM now decides to consider only the Overall scores and not the sectional scores for giving out the calls. I believe it would then be a disadvantage for people like me who went ahead and tried to attempt a good set of questions from each section in order to clear the sectional cut-offs. :)

I am quite sporadic at pagalguy forums, But this is a complete shocker for me - SIBM's decision for having sectional cutoff's , I didnt find this mentioned at any of sites sibm.edu or snaptest.org or on SNAP paper , now when I am visiting this thread after giving SNAP ,I am getting an eye opener . Personally this wont hamper my own performance as I have attempted all sections quite well and I have attempted above 130 marks with decent accuracy.,even in Last year SNAP ,I had attempted all section's equally ,(this strategy I follow in every paper ,whether there is sectional cutoff's or not )!!! But going from above posts ,it seems that different test taker's adopt different startegy to clear cut-off's !! I am really amazed a Nationally renowned Institute like SIBM has behaved so unprofessionally, My surmise is that of all the Test taker's in India only 40 -45 % visit Pagalguy and in particular half of them may have visited this ' SPECIAL 'SIBM thread.If thr are sectional cut -off's why wasn't it mentioned on SNAP paper or SIBM's site .(I havent purchased SIBM's Brochure yet)!!
Also Deep , I dont think ppl who have attempted all sections equally are at any disadvantage (if only Overall score is taken ) rather than those who have neglected a particular section completely , ignorant of SIBM's new adventure .

now that snap 2007 is over - can you tell me the sectional cutoffs in each section ?? is there a consideration of minimum overall cutoff too - if yes please let me know that too.
Sir, Along with filled form of SIBM we need to send the registration form of SNAP also. I have the copy of payment advice form but i do not have the copy of the registration form. The filled form is no longer available on my SNAP account. Is is fine if i send only payment advice form????Plzz reply as to wat should be done now?

Sir, I applied for the snap test and I would say that I did pretty good in it.
But, i made a blunder that is I filled the ovals in the response/answer sheet with pencil, although it was very clearly written that they were to be filled with a pen only.
so, I would like to know if the checking machine would read my answers on not. Because sir, depending upon your reply only, would I be able to know if I should fill the forms of the colleges under snaptest or not.

I would like to ask you a few questions about my concerns:
1. Irrespective of the marks to be scored what is the percentile which would guarantee a person a call for GD/PI. Also how much weightage does the SNAP score have once you have qualified for the GD/PI round.
2. I have had a very interesting life where I spent 2 years in NDA, Pune and due to medical and personal reasons had to come back and do my engg. Then I did my Engg and am presently working for the past year and a half for a global electronics company. My concern is that I have a break in my education for 3 years due to my sojourn in NDA. Will this adversely affect my chances in the GD/PI ? My academic performances before and after my stay in NDA have been pretty good.

I did fairly well in SNAP and hope to get 80+ overall.But I was unaware of the sectional cutoff thing, as it was neither mentioned anywhere in the brochures, nor in the Exam paper itself. Due to this, in order to maximise my scores, i almost attempted all the questions in the Verbal, LA and GK sections, but touched only 5-6 questions in Quants. and now i sadly discover that there r going to be sectionals inSIBM.I really feel cheated. this thing should have been communicated in advance, or at least in the Exam paper. One more thing. Given my extremely less attempts in Quants (5-6), do you still think I shud apply to SIBM? Since, SCMHRD is not considering sections, I'm applying there as well. Please reply.
I have one doubt in filling up the form. I have applied for SIBM through online credit card and i have received the prospectus and the application form. In the prospectus it mentions that in the application filling procedure we need to send the duly filled application form along with registration form, but i have not received any registration form since I applied through online credit card. I have only the RR number . And Sir, In SIBM in the admisision procedure it mentions we need to send the Preference of the campus ie either Bangalore or Pune but there is no form in my application form or prospectus to fill it.
Kindly advice me on these two issues, so that i can send the fully filled form with all the formalities
Please also fill in the Preference Sheet provided in the application kit giving your choice of campus. Students who have not received the preference sheet in the kit need to specify preference of campus by either writing separately on a sheet or by writing on the application form itself as the programme was not announced earlier.
I am not convinced on how to go about this one, can you please confirm where exactly in my form do I mention the preference, somewhere in a corner?
Also, will u suggest if I write it on a separate paper and enclose the same with the application form? (do I need to write it in a letter format?)
I want to apply to both the institutes.
Also, do the placements for both SIBM Bangalore and Pune happen on equal terms, like combined placements instead of seperate placements.
The example I can specify where it happens in is IIFT wherein both IIFT Delhi and Kolkata placements do not see any bias between them .Please help us clarify.

Sir I just wanted to ask you whether SIBM considers work experience ( and the overall profile) of the candidate before giving a call for GD/PI. I mean,for example, if a fresher gets a call at abt 85 marks, can a guy with a wrk ex. of 2+ yrs in India's leading Software Company expect to get a call at abt 80-82?

logically speaking if SIBM is having sectional cuttoff and and i did not attempt 1 question in english...it would make no sense in applying to SIBM ....Right.... Secondly .... there are many good colleges in SNAP group...and i dont know which should be my top 3... also SNAP is going to be very difficult this year.....with so many positive feedbacks ,....i see that cutoff this year to be well over 100...so i have to be specific in applying to colleges within my range... That is my new strategy...

Can you please elaborate upon whether SIBM has any student exchange programs (for internships ) to foreign univs as it il be of optimum advantage fr a student to intern in a foreign country ? plus Incase for a person who is already working , should he/she leave the job rightaway or shpuld go on a leave w/o pay once admitted to SIBM? As one might wish to join the same company one was working fr initially ?
Plus please let me know more on the laterals process and the packages offered (I want u to answer this) .Offcourse I'm nt judging SIBM by the placements but they are indeed a crucial part of any b school , right sir ?
An once admitted is it necessary to show the experience certificate or will an offer letter suffice fr the same ?
