Ask a Consultant! - GMAT/GRE Only

Hi all. I gave my GMAT in July this year and got a score of 710. I have 5 years of work experience in sales as sales officer in lubricants department in Bharat Petroleum. My college score was 6.5 CGPA. please tell me the options open to me. I was thinking of giving the test again to improve it and offset my low college score but have been counselled against it. Please guide.

Hello guys. I have about 1 year of work experience in an IT company. Is it better to gain more experience and then apply for an MBA or can I go for the Ms in management course, which I heard is an is focused for students with lesser work experience. Please share your valuable thoughts. Thanks.

Hi,

I gave my GMAT exam yesterday and scored 680(Q 49,V 34). This was my third attempt and had scored 640 and 650 in the previous 2 attempts.

My average score in the Kaplan practice CATs this year was 718 and I scored 740 in GMATprep.

10th %age- 81(CBSE),12th %age-72(CBSE) and B.Tech %age-71.33(UPTU).

I have a total 5.8 years of work experience(Indian IT company with 14 months in Mexico) and I was targeting executive mba at IIMs, XLRI and ISB.

Now, with this score should I think of applying to the above mentioned schools. Also, should I try for NUS, Singapore.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Hi. i am planning to give my GMAT in august end and targeting ISB in India. i am also interested to study in Australian.  Can you guide me on some good B Schools and what could be good GMAT score for them.

Well, this is my profile. I am currently attending another Entreprenurship event - Narmada Prerna Yatra which is about spending 4 days in Gujarat and meet some local role models, and in future looking forward to attend Jagriti Yatra organized by Tata Group and others.

Now, I seek your advise on the following fronts -

1. What are my chances to pursue graduation in top 10 B-schools in world?

2. Do I need to mention those ECA that I put in OTHERS section above - will it leave a negative impact - I was not able to attend those because of sponsorships and limiting holidays I have while working full time?

3. Will my academics become a problem for me given I didn't attain 7/10 GPA in my under-grad?

4. Also, for the college projects I mentioned ahead - I did not have very good grades on my transcript, will that be a negative point?

5. Moreover, some business courses I pursue over in my under-grad in engineering course, also doesn't reflects good grades too, will that effect the admissions as well?

6. What score should I target for in GMAT which I am planning to attempt in October 2014 end? Please define the range. And the coreespondings permutations and combinations as well for different scores.

7. What all extra should I pursue to cancel out the negativity in my profile. Looking for genuine advice !! Please help

Regards, Shalabh Agarwal

Hi all 😃 i passed out in 2013 july as an engineer.I started working from January 2014.I'm planning to give GMAT in May 2015 for MIM course.By that time my exp will be 15 months and 4 months more till september when the MIM course starts. My query is 1) will i be eligible for top b schools with such a healthy experience ? And 2) will the 5 month gap after my graduation create any hindrance, provided i did courses related to my engg field during that period ? (Waiting desperately for the responses😛 :D)

When is the ideal time to start preparing for GMAT. I am 5 yr engineering student in my 3rd year.

Also what are the ways to improve my english grammar as I am quite poor at it by the looks of it.

Is it possible to crack top B-schools in India exclusively through gmat? I have no work experience and have just finished my Btech degree..

I am not planning for another take on GMAT rather wants to concentrate in essays and profile building. Please guide me.

p.s. I know my GMAT score is not very high so I have choose to apply in lower ranked colleges. It would be good to know my chances of bagging any scholarship in the above mentioned  colleges.
