I am aiming for an MBA in INSEAD or ISB
GMAT : 670 Q 47 V 35
B.E (ME) : 7.3 out of 10.First class with distinction
12th : 85.2% 10th : 82 %
Worked for an international shipping company from the past 2 years as an officer.And before that had full time work experience as a training officer for almost 1 and a half year on international waters.The said company trained and sponsored my undergrad degree. I have been associated with the company for almost 7 years now.
Other extra curricular activities include working with an NGO during my vacation time from the past 2 years,counseling high school students in govt. school.
Learning French till Level 2. And I am an avid traveller,with some very unique travel experiences.
Kindly help evaluate my profile.And tell me If I have a shot at these schools????
for wbut btech how do i have to convert the dgpa to percentage for registering cat 2013? is it (dgpa-.75)*10 or dgpa*10?
Hi All,
I am staying abroad and have a valid GMAT score (less than 2 years old). I am planning to apply for IIMs this year.
I have 2 questions, it would be of great help if any off you can share your knowledge.
1) When will application through GMAT be opened (tentatively) for 2014 intake? Will it be in the CAT site or in IIM site? Can you also share any other info you think will be helpful?
2) If I get admission into IIMs for 2014 batch, can I defer my admission to join in 2015 ?

I've some questions about MBA in India :
1) What are my options for doing MBA before completing one more year in industry(to complete 5 years workex) . Is my profile good enough for these options ?
2) What are my options for doing MBA after completing one year in industry with 5 years workex ? Is my profile good enough for these options especially the IIM other than IIM ABC and ISB(which are stretch) ?
3) Is Executive MBA good for career switching? I'm in IT and want to migrate to Finance domain?4) Any advice to improve my profile for MBA in India? What is my best bet in India with the above profile ?

Hi.I just completed my B.E (Computer Science and Engineering) from an Anna university affiliated college and placed in TCS. I am looking to do my MBA in a top university. I gave my CAT exam last year without any preparation and secured 89.5%(QA-46.5 & VA-98.8). I am planning to write both CAT and GMAT this year mainly focusing on GMAT. But i am a little confused whether to write it this year or next year as some suggested that work experience plays an important role in admission in most universities. So my first question is whether to write GMAT this year or gain some experience and then take it up? Also how many months of preparation is ideal to secure a good score in GMAT and also can you suggest me some of the top universities(Both Indian and Foreign) that consider GMAT scores for admissions.

I am really passionate about investing and share market, which I believe to get fulfilled by pursuing an MBA Finance. I want to appear for GMAT and currently am pursuing my engineering degree(3rd year) from India. I'm really confused at the moment about what should I do, should I also appear for CFA to improve my application, make the university come to know how "MAD" I am about finance?
I also want to know why do most of the Indians fail to get admission in American Universities? Is it because they are not able to represent themselves well in their applications? If so, how can I improve it?
And is there something better than CFA for which I should prepare?

I am into my third year B.Tech, ECE. Though I realised it a bit late, I feel I am made for entrepreneurship. I have started working on my own business venture, and also realize that it is quite a tough task to convince all the IIM graduate CEO/top officials that a mere third year guy also has the guts to do it. Coming straight to the point I want to go for GMAT and apply for 2+2 programmes, provided by different B-schools, ISB Hyderabad in India and Yale and others abroad. I am confused should I go for regular MBA or 2+2 programmes, and what difference I would find in two. Also, what is better to go for an Executive MBA or @year programme?
Hi,I have done Engineering in Electronics & communication with 56% and then MBA in IT with 7.2 CGPA ... and i completed MBA in 2009 when recession was on top.... because of that my entry in job couldnt be good.I am still struggling with salary which i could get after Engineering....My one of friend suggesting me to do MS from US as i am working in SAP field right now because his cousin is running a SAP consulting firm in California who can help me to settle down in same field.I am confused right now should i take this high stake risk at this stage or not... because I have to take loan for the same...
How will an MS help?
And what guarantee do you have that your friend's cousin will hire you, or that you will want that job at all after the MS? If he has to, he can hire you now- in an offshore role, or maybe he can sponsor your visa.
The Americans place huge emphasis on networking and this is how a lot of the b-school students find their internships and jobs. I suggest the same approach for you - network with your friends and their friends in the Indian scenario and get yourself a better job in India.
