I am preparing for the exam myself and I have absorbed most of the information regarding the college, online. I still have a lot of queries and anyone with answers is respecfully invited to respond.

How do you get in? and how good is this institute in rankings?
Well brother Betun, in my humble opinion, it is the best college in India. In fact, I'd even go as far as saying one of the best in Asia. Heres a link regarding the same- Top 10 Colleges of Journalism in India
What I know-
To get in, there's an entrance exam and then there are interviews. Speaking broadly, the exam tests English and GK.
What I don't know-
The actual pattern of the paper.
Actually, I am only interested in a career in communications. The 3 colleges I have in mind this year are MICA, ACJ and IIMC. But it seems like there aren't many seniors on this site from that field... 😞
what is the deadline for submitting the application form? When will the exam be held?

Hi,
I am super keen to get into this institute and was in touch with a current student from there. She assured me that the placements were pretty good .. especially for print. I have no clue about the packages though. Apparently, the campus is not much to speak of, but the profs and the work is very good.
I just went through the application and was wondering if any of you had started with the process. Does everyone who sends in the application gets to write the exam or is there a shortlisting on basis of our applications?
It would be of great help if someone from the college could answer these queries.

I am getting started with the application process from tomorrow onwards. I once read an article in Hindu a couple of years back that said ACJ made 100% placements. The highest package being at aroung 5 LPA and average at around 2.4 LPA. It'd probabaly be delusional to wish for anything more than that for a start up salary in journalism. Also note, the article was written before the recession started (around April 2008 )
I wish there was someone from the college to answer our questions here. But if it's really a serious query, just write to the college itself. I am sure they will help.
I am also filling up the forms for IIMC and AJK MCRC. I'd say that both these colleges are in the same league as ACJ. Any dissenters?

finished sending in applications for ACJ and IIMC, didn't apply for AJK cos of date troubles. questions for iimc (depending on the course - this one is for Radio and TV journo.) relate to news channels, their news coverage, comparing their features to other media, specific programs such as sting operations, SAARC, WTO and all for the 15 marks Q's.
does anyone know where we can get questions for these exams???

Paro.b , if you write to IIMC, they'll send you the papers of IIMC of last 5 years for R.S 20. Try calling them to see if they are still doing that. If that doesn't work out, I'll get the papers scanned and send them to you.

already have the papers... but somehow still nervous!! dunno how to get the rest of the gazillion events of 2009 into my head, which has chosen this moment to minimise its retention capacity to 0!!

Applied to ACJ and exam in on May 23rd. Any idea about the kind of gk questions that would be asked? The term GK is supremely vague :). Also, does anyone have idea about the placements scenario this year at ACJ. Any info would be very helpful.

Hey hey hey, just got back from the exam at Delhi. How did all of you do? I remember GK was quite hard but English was a cakewalk really. But it is more importanyt for everyone else to have performed badly, so that my chance are improved. ;)
There were around 300- 400 students at my center, so I am guessing that total applicants might turn out to be over a 1000 this year from all over India. The competition keeps getting tougher and tougher...
There were 100 students at my center in Hyderabad. Around 15 did not even turn up! (YAY)
English was pretty easy but GK was darn tough. I screwed up the entire abbreviations section.
Luckily, there were quite a few blank pages to go with the blank faces at my center :). When will the shortlist for the interviews be out?
