Hi Junta !!!!!

There would be so many of us, who would be thinking of joining an ERP course. As a matter of fact....every wednesday I see so many ads in Times Ascent to join an ERP course. I also enquired about the same and the fee for that is really high just for the training of 1-2 months they charge anything between 25000 - 35000. They do assure you for placements, however, I doubt on it.

I have also heard that, if you want quality training in ERP (SAP, PeopleSoft, JD Edward etc..) then you should go to Banglore. I dont know why, however, according to what I have heard the courses over there are genuine and recognised.

Could anyone provide more information about it????

Thanks
Reema

Reema, an ERP course is something that one takes up after a certain time in the industry, after being in some specific line like sales & distribution, marketing, etc etc.....In case one wants to do a certified course of SAP from an authorised center, i believe they ask for close to 2 years work-ex and the course fee is over 1.5lakhs....Yes, there are dime a dozen institutes that offer ERP courses for a LOT less...and also take in freshers...but placements, like u mentioned, are pretty pretty dicey there.....Mebbe you should first get to one of these certified centers and have a good chat with their program manager on the suitability of such programs to your profile.... :)

Cheers

ps: i'm assuming you talking of the functional rather than the technical aspects of ERP...if it is the latter that u r referring to, then i guess they do take in fresher CS grads for stuff like ABAP..

As uRmaD said.... there r 2 aspects of ERP..... functional and technical....... As far as the functional part of it is concerned, one def needs to have sum experience bfore jumping into ERP........ : after the course, one generally becomes a consultant..

For the technical part of ERP ( especially when it comes to SAP which mainly comprises of ABAP), one needs to have domain knowledge about Supply Chain Management, Inventory Mgmt, Finances etc which are generally taught along with ABAP... :)

bfore choosing an ERP package to learn, be sure about which area u want to work...

like ORACLE is strong in Financials, SEIBEL and ORACLE for Customer Relationship Management, People Soft for HR, SAP for Manufacturing........

Learning ERP is definitely a costly affair...... for example SAP costs around 2 lacs for both functional and technical with SEIMENS certification, AFAIK........

u gotto think twice bfore u take a decision..... coz therez a lot of risk involved... especially with ORACLE trying to take over People soft : ( This might affect SAP)..

cudn't have said better than that....... 😃

as i already said be very careful.....take some time to gather information about training institutes, their placement record, and discuss with them as to which ERP package best suits u'r profile :)...

if it is the latter that u r referring to, then i guess they do take in fresher CS grads for stuff like ABAP..

i think any branch grad is taken into ABAP courses..... ( I'm an Electrical grad 😉 )

feel free to ask any questions .....

Hey quint,
I saw an ad in the paper yesterday by IIIT Pune. They are offering an MBA with IT specialization and SAP is a part of the course.
Check it out at their website....it www.isquareit.com something.
Hope that helps.

ERP?
Please dont waste your money by joining any of these institutes who post their AD in times ascent. They do gaurantee job placements but nobody gets placed...
Its a personal experience.I did a course in SAP(ABAP|4) from an institute in Delhi.I was charged 25000.But it was of no use.I wasted my money and time.If you want to enter ERP please do the SAP certification ,however it will cost around 1.5 lacs. These institutes are piece of big shit.If you want to enter ERP please go to hyderabad or banglore. There you will have institutes who will teach you better than the inst. in delhi and will charge around 5000-10000.
You decision to enter ERP is a good one.But you need a good break once it is done your life will be cool. You can earn handsome amt in ERP.These inst. promise a lot but when the time comes to fulfill them..............
anyways, its your decision.

Hey Quint - which specialization do u plan to go for in your MBA? choosing your ERP product/domain also would remain a lot on that.....and since you r moving into ERP after an MBA its kinda logical that u wanna be a functional consultant......any product u take up especially if you have less than 3 yrs of exp will be helpful only if u have done certification(coz thats when your company can bill the customer those extra dollars ).....but doing any ERP certification with your own cash is madness.....u need to join the company and make them pay for it......SAP is pretty expensive even for a company to sponsor but other porducts like PeopleSoft certi is something the company will be willing to sponsor(u can do PeopleSoft certi only if u work for a PeopleSoft partner/customer).....

so basically my advice is that forget about the product especially if u are yet to do your MBA....concentrate on acquiring the functional knowledge(which is gonna help across all products) and then as Leo said, wait for the right break in your company to move fully into a particular product.....

I am an mba student studying in a premier institute for mgmt in India. can anyone suggest instts or vendors who will provide training and teach SAP as part of curriculum to a large no of students in the instt itself, just like IIM-B or SCMHRD

Hi everybody

I am a commerce graduate. I joined my family business 2 years ago. Its an old economy manufacturing business with old established systems. I want to implement a centralized system in the company to manage a lot of things. Like Finance, vendors, manufacturing operations etc. Considering that I am just 23 years in age and considering the investment involved in the implementation, I think I should do a full fledged course in ERP so that I have a better understanding of the system in the future. Can somebody suggest me an institute in Delhi to achieve the purpose.

Hey ppl, is thr someone workin on the Oracle apps..

Is oracle apps an ERP if yes wat is the job market like.

Hey Anurag,

Oracle Apps definitely has ERP flavour in it, but AFAIK not all Apps come under Enterprise Solutions. From a functional point of view, Oracle Apps has a very good market capitalization in the Finances Sector. It is picking up in the retail vertical also. And opportunity wise, i think the market beckons and there's a lot of money involved in it.

Hey ERP bigwigs... I need a bit of info
I'm currently working in an Indian IT company in Delhi. I have 7 months of workex till date.
I am currently working in PeopleSoft. I just needed a bit of clarification.
Since Oracle has acquired PeopleSoft, do you see the market for PeopleSoft diminishing rapidly in the next 2-3 years? Further, would it be wise to work in PeopleSoft at the moment or switch to another solution?
I see a lot of jobs for PeopleSoft professionals, but still I am a bit anxious.
What do you advise?

Yes,
myself is Tushar Bhangale, I have completed my B.E computer engineering in 2005,
Now I want to develope my carrer in ERP.
But I want such a institute that gives me really training and plcament on ERP.
because many insitutes only tell that they will provide placement but they won't provide.
Also I want the details about ERP.
I am sending my resume at you.
Hoping that you will give me the needful done at your end.
Thanking you.

Guys, How good is a Oracle course(either Application Developer or Database Administrator) leading to a Oracle certification for freshers. I am thinking of going for a OCP course. I have talked to SQL and Spider Systems in Pune. They talk about placement assistance as well. And which is the better course to go for? From whatever i have researched, the opportunities seem to be equal in both i.e for Application Developer as well as Database Administrator, with more growth opportunities for Developer. Is that true? Please, anyone having any info on this do reply.

What is the your main aim behind the certification ? Land up with a job right ? In that case, I think its a good idea to go for an OCP certification.

Try going to SQL Star. There is one in Bangalore but I am not sure about Pune. These guys are authorized to train you on behalf of Oracle (some Oracle Univ concept).

Application development might open up more doors for you to start with as opposed to DBA positions. So I think you are safe taking that up. But in terms of long term growth DBA might have greater value as its a more niche field and qualified DBAs are very well-paid (upwards of 8-10lakhs with 5+ years exp)

All the best !

Arun

I dunno whether it would be right for me to mention C-DAC here, as it is more of a R&D; Organization. But it offers two courses for ERP, SAP per se...
a) Short Term - 1 Month
b) PGDSEM (1 Year - Vision of Creating Functional Specialists)
FYI - I'm persuing PGDSEM :)

I'll be glad to service any queries on the topic, ERP, SAP, Pvt - Non Pvt Institutes, et al...

Hi All

I am working as a system analyst. Most of the work in my organization is done in VB/SQL. Since, the original business of the organization is technical support (BPO), most of the work revolves around the same (like Callback management, normal employee management, payroll, sensitive call arrival & service level management information etc.). I am looking forward to groom my knowledge in designing & implementing more complex systems.

Can someone advice if SAP is a good area to venture into ?
If yes, which module would you suggest is hot and is going to stay for some time ?
Also, if you can help me with C-Dac centres near gurgaon, that'd be a great help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

hey i m a SAP consultant....do u have ne experience in ABAP???if not den doing ABAP certification is veru difficult...coz its totally diff from doing a certification in functional area such as MM...first all ABAP is a technical language of SAP...but u have xperience in MM module so y r u not doing certification in MM....

Again..SAP certifications are very xpensive and not easy to pass....u have to be proficient in ABAP b4 doing ne certification....
