Just thought of starting this thread for discussing articles in the The Economist every week. Among all the magazines/newspapers I've read, I find The Economist to be the most comprehensive, gives you an amazing macro and micro level insight into global politics and global finance and economics.
The articles are very well researched and structured in a way which makes you want to read about varied politics in latin american countries to how iceland's banks are fairing.
For all those who have subscriptions to the magazine, we can pick a couple of articles every week and discuss them further indepth. For those who don't, a lot of the articles from the economist are posted on their website The Economist - World News, Politics, Economics, Business & Finance for anyone to read.
I love reading it every week and looking forward to some active discussions on this thread!

It's interesting to realize that remittance patterns are changing from the traditional model of flowing from developed to developing countries, there seems to be a shift towards remittances flowing from economies which are more tied to commodity exports. Maybe this is a signal towards an inherent commodity price boom which will favor countries like Venezuela and Russia etc.
Would love to hear thoughts!
