hey, I just got an admit from UIUC…really excited even more coz i got a some scholarship (5000$). I know its not much but i wasn’t even expecting that so i’m kinda partying… if anyone else has got an admit…

Acads: Engg with first class and part time Post Graduate diploma in Financial Mgmt at NMIMS. Mumbai with first class

As per the latest FT rankings , it ranks 39th in the world............still wondering why ppl havent applied here

hey.. i thought its ranked somewhere in top 30 according to U.S.News..
has it slipped in rankings?
but its a very good school i think.

The FT rankings are world rankings whereas USNews is only US... so its FT ranking is def better 😃

Am having my interview for UIUC soon ... Any pointers as to how the interview goes ... what questions are asked ... what is the focus etc etc

I think you must be having an on campus interview since you are located in U.S.
Well, since you have been shortlisted for the interview you are 75% thru it, you should just remain yourself in the interview. They just want to see that you are the same person as you had mentioned in the essays.
Take it as an opportunity to learn more about the university and show your keen interest. Do your research about the univ very well and have a pre set of questions ready that you can ask. Try and speak to some current students.
Try and ask your questions in the middle of the interview rather than at the end, but do not interrupt your interviewer. Make it like a discussion rather than an interview.

Since this is a on-campus interview, they will also be looking at your body language, so be calm and confident.

Some of the basic questions will be:
Why MBA, Why now, Why UIUC
What are your career goals?
Where have you exhibited leadership? What would you like to change about yourself?
What will you contribute to the program?
Something you would like to add that is not there in your resume.
Your biggest achievement.

They will also ask you questions from what you had written in your essays. Maintain your response , so do a good reading of your essays, resume before going for the interview.

Since u r in Texas, what is your opinion on Mays ? It seems BCG goes to Mays campus 😃 btw, do u think BCG recruits internationals ?

Some of my ex-colleagues are there and they do have a very good opinion of the college, the faculty and the entire environment.

I wouldnt know about BCG recruiting internationals, but one thing Im sure of - American firms put alot of focus of getting the best talent. International or not ...

BTW what have you apped for and received admits ? if I may ask that is ... 😃

no probs, I have apped and have admits with Mays, Terry, Tippie, Kelley, UConn...IT/7.5yrs/720...
I had financial constraints(home loan and all) so dint apply to any top tier school...
Out of the one ones that I have, BCG goes only to Mays...

Mays and Kelley are good schools. Abt Financial constraints, many of us have it.... but i still don't feel u shud compromise on good MBA schools coz ur investing 2 yrs and its probably the final degree u'll be doing in ur life......and the loan taken for MBA can be repaid quite quickly and with ur profile i'm sure u wuld manage to repay it asap.......nyways thats my opinion..........I too had an admit from other schools with 80% scholarship but prefer going to UIUC with a loan............think abt it

Dude just relax....interview seems to be a mere formality and as insane mentioned ur 75% thru......keep a good body language and don't hesitate in ur answers and u'll be just fine........i'll see u there in august.........
