Any Queries for FORE School of Management?

Hi ... as far as i know ... FORE doesnt have any tie up with any bank ... and lappy will not be desired immediately wen u join the college ... however it will become a necessity after a month or so ... companies do visit the campus and offer discounts on bulk buys ... last year hp, ibm and others visited the campus ... so i think u will be able to get a better price thru a campus deal ...
Many of us bought it seperately ... and on loans ... my frnd took a seperate loan for the lappy which was not included in the total loan ... she said that she got a better deal thru it ...

As far as other questions are concerned ... I have forwarded my frnd ur questions and i will post the reply as soon as i get it ...

... keep posting ....

Hi Seniors,
Wanted to share something that I came across while an interaction with a FORE student and want to know your views on the same.

I asked my friend(undoubtedly a reliable source) to go and have a feel of FORE as well as get some info. about the fee payment et all 'coz he stays in delhi.

He got a chance to interact with an MCA student of FORE. Although we have done our research on the colz(faculty/placement/infra etc.), we thought to get a 1st hand info of the same. We asked about the avg. salry of the the present passout batch(PGDM) and the guy replied "6 lpa". Now we can see that the website mentions 8lpa, still we thought it wud be > 7 lpa as every insti. poses some inflated figures. We were okay with that and I applied for FORE is a testimony to the fact that I believe FORE is a good insti. if not GReat. But the revelation of 6 lpa came like a shock to us!!

See, I know there's not much diff. btwn 6 and 7 but all I want to say is after having a good picture in the mind of the insti.(not only due to plcmnt stats but other facts as well), we got a bit dishearted!

Hope you understand my concern. Wud like to know your views on it?

Also It wud be gr8 if you cud highlight on:
1) the profiles offered to marketing/operations guyz?
2) no. of offers per student ?
3) lateral plcmnts( I hv a work-ex of 2.5 yrs in IT)?
4) Also, how many consulting companies visit the insti. and last yr how many students got into a consultancy?

Wud be highly thankful to you for the info,
Hemant.

hey seniors can u plz tel how the allotment of hostels is done..is that everybody who fills that he/she requires the hostel gets the same and also what is the criteria taken into consideration when allotment of hostels is done...

can u also throw some light on dual prog ...

thanks...

Hi Kunal ...
last year there was a lot of confusion in some people wanting hostels ... whether they wanted hostel or pg ... meanwhile the guys who were sure of hostel applied ... its on 1st come 1st serve ... these guys booked their rooms as per their convenience and were at an advantage ... so in case u want the hostel ... u might have to visit 2-3 weeks prior to the orientation program to choose ur room .... else u'll be allotted whats left ...

The dual program is as follows:
the total electives allowed in 2nd year should sum upto 12 credits ... there are some half credit electives also ... and in case u choose them ... u will have to choose more electives to add upto a total of 12 credits

these electives can be from any feild ... but some areas like h.r and operations have interlinked electives ... u have to choose one before u go for the other ... so u'll have to do some permutations and combinations ...

a minimum of 5 subjects are needed in an area for it to be calles a major ... so, in a total of 12 u can do majors in 2 subjects maximum ... like 6 h.r and 6 operations ... if u do majors in only one subject ... like 9 subjects of h.r and 3 of operations ... then u'll be called 'h.r core' ...

if u have a cgpa above 3 at the end of 3rd trimester ... u can go for 2 audit subjects apart from the 12 electives ... its ur choice ... if u feel there were some important subjects u shud have taken bt cudnt in the 12 chosen ... u can add 2 more ... they will be mentioned in ur scorecard but wont contribute to cgpa ... passing in them is compulsory ...

Hello Seniors,
Can you people please throw some light on median salary package.I am having 2.5 yrs exp in IT industry.
1)Is it really worth to take the IBM course as only one specialization we can choose (which is not the case for PGDM?)
2)What are the last year's batch cat %tile range in IBM course and ratio of workex people in IBM(It is already said 1/3 for PGDM)
3)Is IBM a subpart of Marketing?
4)Future expectation in terms of Placmt packages in IBM course. As in MDI/IMT has the similar courses and they get less than PGDM people.
5)if i choose IBM(Finance) then would i be eligible for finance based company's recruitement only.
6)How summers plcmt has gone for current batch in IBM.
7)What is the general profile which companies are giving to Fore's student. Is it different from RM in Finance, BA in IT or operation specialization.
kindly give me correct picture about the IBM course and it's expectation in future. If possible kindly revert back. i am getting PGDM in other college but want to know more about FORE's IBM programme.

Hey amit,
Sorry for the late reply..
I had a talk to students from current IBM batch....The response was positive in terms of the course curriculum, placements and faculty.
In PGDM(IB) you can have specialization in finance or Marketing.
People with work ex 40:60. People have joined from very well known companies with good workex in current IB batch.
Engg/Non Engr ratio - mostly engineers
Placements for IB will be at par with the PGDM batch.
In Summers IB batch was competing along with regular PGDM batch in the same companies.

I hope i have answered most of the Q, but i still request people from current IB batch to put more info about PGDM(IBM).
And also i request people who have got call(or waitlisted)pls put down ur profiles here, and whether joining or not.

My profile BTECH(IT) with 2.6 yrs exp with a well known IT company...
Converted PGDM(IBM).

Guys pls put ur comments , its the last week and then we need to submit the fees......

IBM batch joiners pls come forward.....

@AMIT - regarding ur PGDM call , it depends from which collge u got the call....

being honest, i am only bothered about scope & level of education offerd.

Hi IB Seniors,
Request you to reply to the below queries
1. I know there have been no placements yet as the program is only one year old, but I am sure that the seniors at IB must have their facts regarding future prospects defined. Accordingly could you please let us know what kind of placements in terms of profile can an IB graduate expect. Also is it possible for any IB senior to PM me there Mobile No , so that I can ask more questions wrt course details and oppurtunities in IB.
2. Also what would be the advantages/diadvantages of IB wrt PGDM. Seniors I am sure this question is on the minds of all IB aspirants. Please do answer this question.
Thanks in advance.

hi shankha ,

i'm not a senior , but an MBA aspirant .

my 2p

IB - Masters of International Business is a 2-year post-graduate programme (equivalent to MBA) with special emphasis on Marketing and Finance with a global perspective.

IB would give you the liability to go into sales , marketing ,consultancy , finance , M&A;'s , investment banking etc.

some of the subjects that you'll be coming across in IB would include

Economics & Trade Policy , ITO & Logistics , Marketing , General Management & Strategy,Finance (including International Finance) , E-Business & Technology Management

cheers n regards

ps - I dont think FORE has seperate placements for PGDM and IB.

!!!Seniors Please Help!!!
Can any of the senior, 1st or 2nd yr PM me his/her direct contact as I wud be visiting FORE tomorrow and gain an insight of all parameters that we have to take into consideration to finally take a decision.
And in this case if we can have a priorly decided meet then it wud simply be time-efficient.
I hope some senior would, only if its okay with him/her.

do v need to go to submit the draft ? cant v send it by post ?
