I don't think so dude because it is not the oms rank. It given to all the candidates on the basis of their overall score i guess. Only those candidates who have chosen the option of applying for All India seats must have got this AIR.
Sumbody please confirm this

All those people who had submitted their CAT or/and CMAT scores while ARC confirmation got All India Rank and it's irrespective of type MS, OMS.

anupk.. are you sure?? so if my AIR is 198, does it mean that 197 ppl in INDIA are ahead of me ya 197 ppl OUTSIDE MAHARASHTRA are ahead of me???

yeah, i'm sure of whatever i've said.
If your AIR is 198, it means 197 people ahead of you are Indian nationals (belonging to any Indian state including Maharashtra).
Out of that 197, i guarantee some are from Maharashtra and some from other states.
My AIR is 116 and i'm from Maharashtra.

Dude its actually if you remember that while filling the form, you were to check an option that asked if you want to apply for all india seats. Other state candidates have definitely done that but some maharashtra candidates also did it. It meant they applied through their CAT or CMAT score .So AIR is for all the candidates who have applied through the marks obtained in other exams, converted by DTE to CET Equivalent score.

I am doubtful of the fact being said here..coz I've sumwhere read in fb dat a maharastra candiadate wid score 147 has an all india rank of 900sumthng whereas I am an OMS candidate wid d same score wid all india merit no.216.
so I think for OMS candidates d merit no.is given acc.to der ranks among OMS candidates who appeared 4 mh cet xam nd gd pi.

Not possible. The rank must be something other than AIR. DTE give variety ranks to maharashtra students.

I am pasting following from MBA CET brochure:

1.3.1 Types of Seats under CAP:
There are two types of Seats under CAP a) Maharashtra Seats and b) All India Seats
a) Maharashtra Seats: These seats are further divided as follows,
1. Home University (HU) seats: Certain percentage (Refer rule 4.0) of seats as per the type of
institute is reserved for Home University candidates i.e. for the University under the jurisdiction of
which that institute is located. Home University seats are available for allotment through CAP only
for the Maharashtra candidates having their Home University status as of that University.
2. Other than Home University (OHU) Seats: Certain percentage (Refer rule 4.0) of seats as per
the type of institute is reserved for Other Universities i.e. for the Universities other than the
University under the jurisdiction of which that institute is located. Such seats are called as OHU
seats. OHU seats of an Institute are available for allotment through CAP only for the Maharashtra
candidates belonging to Universities in Maharashtra State other than the University under the
jurisdiction of which that institute is located. Candidates can opt for the seat of any other University
(excluding his/her home university) under this provision of OHU seats.
b) All India Seats (for MS and OMS candidates):
These seats are available for allotment through CAP for the both eligible Maharashtra and Outside
Maharashtra State candidates. Provision of reservation for backward class categories is not available
i.e. All India level seats are treated as belonging to the General Category.

2.3 Eligibility Criteria for admission against All India Seats:
2.3.1 For Maharashtra State Candidates
1. Candidate should be an Indian National and should possess basic qualification as specified in rule
no. 2.1.
2. Appeared for CAT 2011 (conducted by IIMs) or CMAT 2012 (Conducted by AICTE) and GD Π
conducted by the Competent Authority of Maharashtra State for academic year 2012-13.
2.3.2 For Outside Maharashtra State (OMS) candidates
OR
Appeared for MAH-MBA/MMS-CET 2012 and GD & PI conducted by the Competent Authority of the
Maharashtra State for the academic year 2012-13.

I will try to clear some confusion here.

"AIR is not exactly all india rank. It is the rank using which all india level seats are allotted."

AIR for maharashtra candidates is calculated based on their CAT/CMAT scores. So in case of this mumbai candidate, his CAT/CMAT scores are considered for his AIR, and state/university ranks are from CET score.
