Hey Jello,
I'm applying in R2 for the full time MBA program.
I have a small query regarding essay 2.
Do I have to mention 1 personal and 1 professional achievement within 250 words or is it sufficient to work with one?
Also.. Zilch replies... Let's put some life in this thread!!
Cheers!!
do you guys think australia is safe for India students?
@ ronnie987,
I think so... Given that I've spoken to a lot of people who live/work/study in Australia.
Hey sharemyhead!!!
I think it would be a good idea to include a professional as well as personal achievement in your essay-highlights your versatility.
In fact, I had mentioned two personal and two professional achievements!!;)
I had applied for round 1 and have got an offer ..:cheerio:.. Have applied for scholarships now .. lets see..
Ronnie987,
Australia is definitely safe for Indians - I have a lot of friends living there. If you are refering to the incidents that occured a few years back, I believe those were isolated cases converted to a "generalization" by the media!!
Australia has a very robust economy with lots of job opportunities. Besides the people out there are very friendly :p.
Hey Jello..
Congrats!!! That's great news for you!!
I hope I can be in the same state after approx 2 months.
Can you please post your profile over here and the entire experience with AGSM?
Any other admits in the bag or you're pretty much set on AGSM?

Violence against Indians in Australia controversy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
7.30 - ABC
my friends who were academically strong with international exposure met with several racial prejudices just because they are Indians.
China/singapore are better options.
Agree there were sporadic instances of racist violence in the past, but similar incidents have happened in US and Europe as well (racial prejudices and even violence), just that they go unreported or unnoticed. Even in the article, if you read carefully, it is mentioned that majority of the incidents were petty thefts and robberies generalized to racist violence. No offence to you buddy and thanks for the information shared, I still consider it as a safe country, as safe or may be safer than India, basing my view on the first hand information from some of my relatives and friends living there.
I got a admit for AGSM 2012. who got admitted, please pm me your contact details.
@Cognizant - The problems of racism that you have raised are prevalent in other countries too. From my information this is not something that has happened to any of the student community at AGSM.
Hi Guys..
I too have got an offer from AGSM for a Full time MBA.
I would like know what do the full time students do for their income ie to sustain themselves, considering Sydney to be the most expensive city in AUS. I understand that before the commencement of the program they have to arrange for loans, which would cover all the misc expenses. However, I would like to know how exhaustive is the course work? Does a typical student time find to work part time? Is working part time an option at all?
Thanks..
Hi Anshul,
From my discussion with the adcoms and UNSW officials, the AGSM course is pretty hectic with 2 week of breaks between each term. The total vacation time in th 16 month course period is for 2 months only (which includes the 2 week breaks and the december break). Given this info, it become very difficult to find part time work for long durations during the course. But if you can manage the hectic schedule of the course , then the options for both off campus and on campus part time jobs is open for you. There is no restriction from the administration on those. Hope that helped.
