Ads you HATE!

i completely endorse vipfloyd's opinion of pepsi cafechino...ewww..it s**ks.....dont even try it by mistake..esp all caffiene freaks who'd exitedly try it out n .....

here's another ad i guess ppl wouldnt have liked.... "muh mein rajnigandha...."
man... what a crap
on the other hand one of the ads that i like is that of a chewing gum, when a student enters a class while pretending to go out... Nice connection of brand's punchline & theme (dimag ki batti jala de)

come to think of it... a good ad is one which makes us remember the product not the ad.... (i hope i m making sense...like i cant remember which chewing gum was this ad promoting ?) so it cud be good for the ad agency but not for the brand...

I thought that the JK Lakshmi cement ad was good.

Hey any of you guys seen those Vicco Products ad, which are mainly shown in theatres.

First one featuring Mrinal Kulkarni in a wedding singing " Haldi Chandan Ke gun" and in the next scene eating apple and a kid crying and running towards his mother yelling "mummy mummy".

Second one three girls are shopping in a mall and they pick up all the costly items while their mum insist them to buy things which are cheep and more in quantiy and then the salesman suggest them to use vicco. The three girls starts day dreaming, in their dreams one become a Beauty Queen, the other become an actress and the third one easily woes boy of his liking. Its really pathetic at the same time so much hilarious the girls look like dance bar girls and their expressions are so weird that one can't stop laughing at them.

That the worst add I have seen.
Yaar I dont get this ,
No one mentioned nething abt my all time hated ad , the nirma ad , jaya sushma rekha , and all that crap.

It really sucked and still sucks
hope i am not alone in feeling like this .

regards

Whoever thinks the SRK ad sucks had just been had by JWT. It is one of the most brilliant campaigns in the history of Indian advertising with excellent buildup, great execution and a shocking makeover.

The only thinkg that an advertisement has to do is make a mark on the customers mind and make him recall the ad vis-a-vis the product in an unaided environment.

When you think of an ad as being 'good', it needs to be good for making the product sell and not just satisfying the creative urges of a few.

Hence the ever lasting fight between management and creative in marketing communication companies ( fancier way of saying ad agencies) .

Cheers!
hey
seems like every1 hates TATA indi ads!!
well I hate those toilet cleaner ads. Also that MDH mirchi with tht strange OLD man & his even stranger moustache!!! & silly jingle
& does ANY1 get that smirnoff ad ..LIFE IS CALLING ..its a great line but it DOESNOT connect at all with a cd or cassette whc is the ad actually for!!!

hi

1. Tata indicom ads are horrible granted and according to their response on sales, there are reports on them being pulled out soon

2. MDH has benefitted greatly from the moustached founder of the brand because MR reveals most people link it to tradition and quality of masalas ground by hand and gives the surreal illusion of a quality product. The jingle has a great top of the mind recall for most people ( including you) so ur going to hear much more of it.

3. Smirnoff has to resort to surrogate advertising because of the laws in India and what they are advertising is not a music cassette/cd which would only be contributing a miniature fraction of their revenues but promoting a culture which includes having fun and getting pissed drunk with smirnoff while at it.

Welcome to the real world.

:-)

yes it's true that only motive of advertisement is to create a mark on customer's mind, but lets see the advertisements we are talking abt..
lux,airtel,indicom,pepsi-caffechino-now all companies are well established and would be paying their advertisement agencies a hefty amt. but still they are facing criticism on every other ad,so why is that amt wasted on some of worst ads me and u have ever seen.(smtimes it is the company whose image suffers badly due to a bad campaigns not the advertisement agencies) is ok with all of those small companies like cement companies, panmasala etcetra.. who cannot chalk out enough money for their marketing,

u can see the service tax ad on nowadays,a simple advertisement with no stars and modestly made but still makes enough impact on ur mind, look at fevicol ads, without speaking a single word they convey the message they want to.

it is all clear by all the posts that nobody watches the airtel or caffechino ads.. i saw it once and i would literally turnoff my tv to avoid those,so how come those campaigns promoting their product well..
sales won't give u the clear picture because those products/plans are good(caffechino is an exception)) or the parent company has its brand value, that is why customers will buy it(or atleast try it) in any case..but mind u they are wasting too much as their marketing expenses..

yaar moi a Marketing aspirant (have actually come up with a philosophy too)...but I don't think advertsing is that important for old customer base retention (considering coke spends gazillions of good money on it....).If you take Pepsi it has really tapered its star power ads(adore the diet pepsi ads...)and overall their Chips and Cola have overtaken Coke ....But what I am confused so as to get a new base how effective actually a very normal(no srk, kajol, dev(Gun him out),Skoda~chic, anti bimaree, nirma)would be?so what I think to stay in your mind LUX~SRK typies ads spring up a debate or atleast some sneer and may just be part of the new family budget.......

I agree completely. Saw it today first time during the match. What a waste of Irfan. Dont tell me that a shave can cause you pain while bowling:wow: By the way which was the last Irfan AD which was good:confused: (The Irfan and Zaheer bad outfield AD was also a NO-NO.) At least I cant remeber one.

lol...what takes de cake in tht ad is that model's blank face...she looks totally doped out thro out...like huh..where am I..whts happening!! pretty sad! and de ad is poorly executed.. considering they had all de ingredients that cud've have made it a really good one...innovative product, great tagline (go play) n last but maybe de most imprtant john abraham ;). hmmm..pepsi cud've done a lot better !

John Abraham AD:SALSA SANS THE PAPRIKA...simple as that.....ad maker too confused...so was the chic.....maybe he wanted the girl to have a "taken aback""shocked"(seeing john abraham...)look but in a 15 sec ad it was overdone but anyways......I didn't lose any money and would still prefer Pepsi over Coke...
SKODA AD:HAS VIVID VIDEOS made an entry in INDIA(no mahilla morcha...)...for sure this wasn't something to target a 40 something's(midlife crisis)pocket more to satisy the teenager infatuation with white skin.....

Hey Vip

wassup man? you are right when you say that me and you hate these ads. But dont you think that the people who are sitting up there managing this stuff would also think think the same way? I mean its unfair to assume that they are all fools running a company...

Yes, so me and you dont like these ads but you are talking about a country of a billion. A cold drink is as accessible to a driver/domestic help/ clerk as it is to Mr. Ambani. Now, this is where the post-screening MR comes in. You would be surprised to know that the caffechino ad has actually had men in cities like kanpur and indore interested. One person even remarked that he loved the way kareena kapoor pouts her lips (YUCK!!).

SO me and you dont like the ads but it doesnt mean that a different SEC or TG doesnt also... PERSPECTIVE SHIFT

cheers!

puppy of cloromint sux big time but wht abt d tendulkar n boost ad??u get 2 c multiple tendulkars n 10-20 clones of tht kid playin tennis.
