The PEPSODENT ad showing their concern in form of an aarti, they sing nahin karta, nahin karta, brush nahin karta, sone se....." din bhar yeh khaata, khaata hi jaata, khaana khaake seedha sone ko jaata, raat mein brush kar." How did the advertising agency get the exact figures of 12 lac children brushing their teeth before sleeping ? And are they making us believe that these 12 lac children brush their teeth with pepsodent brand ??? Its high time these advertising agencies get creative and stop thinking inside the box...
The advertising agency is Lowe Lintas. Lowe Lintas handles the majority chunk of Hindustan Lever's advertising. Pepsodent is one of HLLs most important brands, and appeals to a very specific, targeted segment.
The 12 lacs figure isn't made up. There are rules and regulations about using statistics in advertising, and HLL is probably the most paranoid of all marketeers. Their legal department will not allow a single rupee to be spent on an ad if there is a chance the stats are wrong. Lowe and HLL work together for MONTHS researching a re-launch, and more so with a brand like pepsodent. If anything, 12 lacs would be an underestimate, not an overestimate.
Oh, and about advertising agencies being creative? The pepsodent ad is neither targeted at you (A mid/early twenties unmarried man) nor is it meant for your entertainment. It's on TV to sell pepsodent to mothers. If you know any mothers of 5-6 year old kids, ask them what they think of the brand, and THEN you'll know whether it was successful or not.
For the record, I worked at Lowe last year, so I'm not full of shit.
If you want to analyze an ad, never think about it from your point of view unless it's targeted AT you. You could criticize the new Axe ad and whatever you say would be valuable. But you're looking at Pepso in the wrong way.
(And BTW, you probably think the Axe, Saint Gobain and Surf ads are very creative. But guess what! They're all from Lowe. In fact, pretty much the same team works on Axe, Surf and Pepso)
gud info boss.....infact i find that ad very interesting and creative....that aarti concept is great.....the most imp part is that it is catchy......anyways..these are my views.....
that reliance ad is total waste.......to change the mood lets also mention r fav ads...... mine is the Fast Track 1......"Yes Sir"...its simply amazing............very catchy...one of he ads i wait for....

varun_sood Says

Sorry boss but fast-track ad is really nonsense...cant agree with that. Best ones, malaysian airlines and SBI.
The former really makes sense. But not many people would relate to it (many as in millions, coz its business class).
fast track ad bordors on the notty-side of adverts! i like airtel ads...which convey their msg of dependability n blahblah..without even showing a single handset or anything connected with telephony! they concentrate more on human values! i dont like indicom ads feat. kajol n ajay devgan. a real mess..they really are!
hmmmmm.....well i found it interestin n if i m not mistaken on this thread we r free to xpress r own views..rite.... nyways...leavin apart all this ..it wud b a better idea if we also state reasons (like poor concept..etc)for hatin an ad in particular,,that wud make the idea of creatin this thread meaningful....wot say... i think the fast track strikes the rite chord.....gud concept..gud recall value...

No hard feelings man....you're right. However I never intended to say "all who disagree go to hell". Anyway the reason why i dont like that ad is we tend to enjoy the ad for what it sounds (which is very temping, u know). May be they sold a million fast tracks with this one but i'm never going to buy any thing just by the way it sounds. Ironically I did buy a fast track to gift it to my cousin, but that was because I couldnt afford a Casio .
I mean, does that ad gives the message "choose our watch coz its good for so n so"?
k..agree dat d ad doesnt tell us "choose our watch coz its good for so n so"? meaning its not informative....but i dont think all ads should convey some info....i mean sum ads r there to create d curiosity n visibility which den makes u visit d shop n look for the prdct.......then its all ur at discretion to buy it or not...n sum ads r made wid this purpose only.....bringing the consumer to the shop looking for that product....... lot of gyan i no....u remember that erricson ad...1 black coffee please...it was also made on the same lines........

ur post smhw reminds me of a jet plane, sm ppl wonder why it flies so fast
Chill d00d, the mortal was just expressing his views. i wonder y u took it so acerbic! Infact i myslf like to keep vdo copies of the ads and whn i downloaded this ad, it looked so incongruent to me that i dint mind a Shift+Del. its a personal choice afterall. U like some u hate some, and then u post abt both
And if u r going after the poor guy so sarcastically, lemme point it out that the ad has been thrashed blue and black by the media and critics alike. That ad is smhw not seen much nowdays, quite a small life for a well made ad by two majors
Every1 here is a critic in his own coat, we spare no agency and Lowe just happened to be one. Dnt tell me O&M; cant think inside the box !! Relax and enjoy the thrashing. Dunno how many ppl thrash the industry standard acrobat, but that doesnt mean me, an ex employee of it, turn glabrescent!!
i hate all those "undercover" ads for alcoholic drinks that are disguised as ads for mineral water, cassetes and cds, etc etc. Not that i have anything against booze, i`m a big drinker myself, but it seems so obvious what the ad is about, and yet no one wants to admit it!
picture this:
"was the sea rough"...."no it was smooth, real smooth". why, coz u had mineral WATER to sooth your nerves???
"it`s you life, make it large": by listening to MUSIC??
"McDowells, mera number one": drinking water....number one....are we talking cause and effect here?!
The worst is the bacardi ad: "the bats come out at night and look for prey and the female bats allow him to close in. Bacardi CDs and cassates...calling all creature of the night"...arent the music stores closed at night??
the Kajol and Ajay comm for Indicom is bad, I agree! But I think that if you look at it from the target audience's point of view it makes sense. The target audience for Indicom was the lower class/ lower middle class (economically speaking) where the mobile phone doesnt figure as a communication device as yet. This section doesnt look at a phone from a 'cool gadget' point of view and the reason people from these section dont buy it is because of the high costs associated with it and the constant re-charges. So in my opniion what Indicom has done is good- roping in Kajol and Ajay and making an ad that emphasises only on the 2year no recharge funda! I personally dislike the ads but that is because im looking at it from my point of view, an urban yuppie !!
Perhaps a better option would have been to make Ajay look like the common man and perhaps Kajol being his wife in that and initially show them facing hardships .. due to not having a cell phone and then Indicom's offer comes in as the answer to their problems, 24/7 connectivity and no costs. As good as a Landline, but better 'cos its always with you...
Tata indicom ad with kajol and ajay is the worst ad i have ever seen.To make the matter worse there are not one but two ajay one with that stupid leg i still cant figure out why he raises his leg...does that mean that every time we use the phone our leg will go up to get the signal. I think sbi and fevicol ads are the best.Recently sbi's ad agency has done a great job. Other ads that are worse are all those tobbaco and pan masala ads which are specially aired on aaj tak,channel7 and india tv. there are many ads which are in the worse category but who cares . happy new year 2:) 😃 6
SBI ads are bound to do well....O&M; Tag and creativity...

man this is all they can do now... well they are funny but still convey that real men only drink their brand of booze..:drinking:
true tata indicom ad is one of the worst but more and more ppl discuss abt it.. look at the thread full of wrath for it..and ad fulfills it's purpose..
i like skoda(it is good because they stick to the CAR+introduce some sentiments with it),fast track(concept is ok:satisfie:.. gals are attractive ,overall it is good),john players(hrithik is back),
i hate unicorn,ITC biscuit ad(one with khan in it),tata indicom ob,
yes i agree that the ajay-kajol tata indicom ad is quite bad..poor production value, bad script, stupid concept. it has everything. but the SBI ad and the new Femina ad are excellent. i especially love the Femina ad with Audrey Maben, Megha Kavale and Sheetal Mallar, extremely well made and it sends across a very powerful message. and the tagline : i believe in me. it speaks a lot of the brand Femina and also of female empowerment.
The ad of Tata Indicomm featuring Ajay Devgan and Kajol.......
I firmly believe that this kind of some more ads will ruin the brand value of couple.... :(
intersting thread i must say...i dint go bak to check d earlier pages...so sorry if m repeating dis...but i really hate d ad by Hutch in which Irfan Khan keeps talking all d crap....and esp. dat "girlfriend se baat karna hai and no talkitime"??: ...dats d worst line i prefer hutch's cute dog netym over Irfan Khan's bakwaas:neutral:
