adapt is the new initiative of The National Resource Centre for Inclusion it aims equality to all irrespective of ones caste creed and physical deformity. the spastic society of india is our initiative and we would like volunteers to teach in our schools in colaba bandra and sion
here is a little bit about us
The Spastics Society of India was set up by
Dr. Mithu Alur in 1972 following the birth of her daughter Malini. Mrs. Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister took a personal interest and because of her intervention the first experimental school for children with cerebral palsy was set up.
Currently The National Resource Centre for Inclusion runs 13 anganwadis/ preschools in the city of Mumbai. These anganwadis function in the poorest areas of the city where government services have not been able to reach. The anganwadis, in terms of financial structuring and staff deployment, have been replicated on the basis of the government run ICDS anganwadis
The anganwadis provide services to all children between the age of 31/2 51/2 years.
There is a special focus on the girl child and children with disabilities.
The children are provided education along with a well planned nutritious snack.
Children with different types of disabilities are provided services.
Therapy is a regular routine for children with disabilities. Therapy aides visit the community sites to conduct the therapy sessions.
if anyone wishes to contribute in anyway to our cause can pm me or drop by our office opposite afghan church at colaba
