Well guys before I get into my long story about the gmat prep little bit about me...

I m a B.TECH in ELECTRICAL. I tell you one thing without any hesitation that software is not my cup of tea where you need to keep yourself update with the latest in the market and solving all those programming stuff...I hope people can understand that...Well interacting with people is sth which I love to do and whats better than joining a BPO.....

Well now I am in a confusion as to my work exp would be given that much importance during the evaluation process or not...I have finally started working on my apps and gonna apply this year.....

Here goes my GMAT prep:
------------------------------

I hope this meagre attempt of mine may help you achieving your goals..

TIME DEVOTED:

Well I devoted 3 months seriously despite the hectic work schedule..I tell
------------------I tell you guys that this GMAT really SUCKS!!!! so dont do anything without giving any prior thought I mean a well prepared guy can take you heights so better be prepare otherwise this G gonna make you go crazy...

BOOKS USED:
---------------

1.OG
2.Princeton review
3.kaplan
4.Kaplan 800
5.Of course, Power prep

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF BOOKS:
-------------------------------------

1.OG: All you guyz out there take my word for that, that use this book like a "GRANTH"..I mean it especially for verbal as it very close to the REAL GMAT..Do all the questions for verbal as it is the mirror image of the questions that you get in the REAL G....

2.Princeton review: Well the fundas given in this book are really grt so learn all the fundas but beware of the fact that this book is only for people who are looking to get score in the bracket of 630 to 670...So all you guyz aiming for 700+ score keep on reading..

3.Kaplan: Yes guyz believe me this is really good especially the hard questions...Remember the more comfortable you are with hard questions the more your score in REAL G.... Especially for QUANT.

4.kaplan 800: you are gonna get some real SUCKING questions in this book but I would recommend you guys to atleast go through it once..

MOTIVATION MANTRA AND METHODS:
-------------------------------------------

GMAT is the most boring exam I mean doing those F*** questions again and again well you need sth that can be a motivation and keeps you going on so that you finally F*** this grt evil on this earth....

Well I followed this technique to get this MOTIVATION, in fact till my GMAT deadine I was on a honey moon with this motivation.

I made number of charts and on that I wrote down all the goods points and maxim that could really help you in cracking the exam...I used to read them daily and then get back to work. this really helped me a lot.....

Practice Tests:
----------------
PowerPrep tests: 700, 720
Kaplan Tests: 540, 620, 600, 650

HI ,
As u knw .tht quant in CAT really sucks , but I think u ll ve an edge as u ve prepared for english very well. All u ve to do is to refresh ur 10 -12 ncert maths , believe me it's really gonto help u alot , Regarding DI ,start memorizing tables , squares and cubes ,
Wht I feel , DI is all about calcualting fast and accurate , becoz most of the pie charts and graph related questions u wld ve faced it earlier , so person with higher speed can crack it easily.
thts it for the time being
regards
rohit sinha

congratulations for that amazing score!!!

Please can u advice on how to start with the prep...I mean which book to start with first amd how to schedule the preparation....

Hi CrEtin

Dude!! before you take plunge into this "VAST G River" make yourself mentally prepare that I have to crack it no matter whatever the circumstances I have to face during my prep.

Once you are mentally prepare to kill this beast then get the princeton review book so as to get the hang of the verbal questions and of course understand the mechanics of the GMAT. The strategies given in that book especially for verbal are very good.Make sure that you follow them strictly while solving any SC question. In the meantime make sure to take a powerprep test so as to make sure that which are the areas where you need to concentrate upon and where you have to strengthen yourself. In this way you can attack the whole system very systematically and wont be facing probs while taking the real thing.....

Also get a hard copy of OG which will cost you aroung 13k and start solving the verbal that is understand the solutions also..

As far as quant is concerned just build your concepts I mean the very basic concepts like BODMAS.....

Take as many tests as possible..

Any questions do lemme know I will put my best to solve all your queries..

Guyz if you have any inputs for my thread which is call centre work exp. then plz post them as I mentioned before that I have started working on my apps...

Best of luck

I tell you one more thing that nobody knows what is gonna happen tommorrow so whatever you do just give it a big shot rather than attempting it without any enthu..

1.isb
2.wharton
3.columbia
4.stanford
5.yale

Well as of now I am pretty much busy with the "BORING APPS PROCESS" which really sucks as it requires lot of patience from your side and make the whole appl process very lazy and lethargic...

Buddy all your inputs, criticism are welcome so dont hesitate on that part...

Catch you later.!!!!!

Well it seems that CAT is one of the toughest exam in this whole universe...Well got myself enrolled for TIME...Pretty satisfied with there faculty but the material is good..Guys one of my buddy got through IIM A this year..was excited about this new thing in life..I tell u one thing that in front of CAT, GMAT stands nowhere I mean the quant in gmat is a cakewalk if you have already prepared for cat...I mean it..Whatever knowledge I have gained I personally feel that cat is all about TIME MANAGEMENT and the use of the effective and fruitful strategy that puts u on the 99+ percentile bracket..it is difficult to achieve but it is not impossible as it can be cracked....I think it is difficult to crack cat while working but it is not impossible is what I feel...You just need following components to achieve this that is

dedication
hardwork
devotion
singleminded approach
highly focussed
alwayz the have to f**** cat kind of attitude which helps you to achieve that goal

Guys wait for your replies..

catch you later...

Hi all,

Well, before i start off with what i want, lemme tell u what i m..!! i m a computer engineer passed out in 2004, working with a software firm(again that boring sh** job..!!).
Hey sgmat. even i hate the job that I m doing. it's like sitting thee trying to wrtie something in the computer of which you don't hav the aintest idea. All u have to make sure is that write something elligible within the stipulated deadline without knowing hopw it fits into the system..!! i hate it,.

I have given the CAT 3 times already, got 98.2%ile, in the last attempt. The only problem is that, right now, I lack the motivaiton to go on. i have already studied it so many times that the motivation to on, to travel that extra mile does not come..!!

Can someone help me uot pliss..??

Hi Sgamt,

At the outset that's a gr8 score m8..Congrats..!!

there is one book , titled 'Wanna Study in US'(101 tips..) by Natasha..see if this book helps in you app porcess..

wish u ATB in u r app process..

Dude,
Congrats on breaking the barrier..I mean it really does mean a lot to be in the post 700 bracket. I've just started my preps and well I am equipped with the std. Kaplan's and Barron's..but the thing is..TIME!

I work..and im crazy at that coz i love it..but then..im good at extra curriculars like you too..Considering im putting that extra effort to cut on the ex-curr, how does one make sure they get that time out of work.
I have the Power Prep on my notebook, but deadlines take the power out of it..suggest better ideas to utilize that time. Im sure you did something when you were working..

I have an extra pack of my visiting cards that were useless after the promotion...I can make them work for me..

Ciao

Well no doubts life moves on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got myself in the complete mode to put my best foot forward so as to crack cat 2005..I would recommend all you guys to join IMS as it seems to give the true picture about the CAT and provides you the necessary tools required to F*** CAT..

For all the GMAT guys, I would say that once you are prepared for CAT quant then the GMAT QUANT would be a cakewalk for you guys...Real thing to crack in GMAT is verbal which sucks really hard!! so pull up your socks and get as much info about the verbal section and the material required to crack the whole system in the most effective manner..

I believe CAT is more of a concentration game while maintaining your composure during the exam..Given my first MOCK CAT of IMS and got a meagre score of 75 which I believe is not that very good my cutoffs were like this:

quant 20
verbal 35
di 20

Well paper was on the easier side but still according to the paper I feel the score was very low..need to put more efforts..

ALL YOU GUYS OUT THERE..is the TIME material good to crack cat...

wait for your inputs..have to go and get back to work...

Catch you later guys!!!!!!

take care..

Get ready to f*** this beast otherwise u know what is gonna happen...guys it is round the corner so aim for it and then play your shot...

Hi guys!!!

whass up!! howz life moving..
well cat prep is on its way now..I tell u these nite shifts..at times they suck..

I love my job very much..cool bucks (good incentives),perks and all other facilities in this job but nite shifts.. I dont want to leave my job but u see every body is looking for better growth prospects in life..so me too!! in that HERD....Yaar it is all MONEY GAME!!! yaar...

Well, my cat is at times seems to be very irritating but I tell you the secret to crack is just to maintain your cool and i tell you that it is cracked becoz the moment you start getting panicky you lose your cool and forget solving the questions..I gave mock cats under all the scenarios and my experience says that dont rush if you want to crack cat..rest is all about your prep which everybody is doing.....

Got hold of time mock n i tell you it sucks...but they are good for prac..at one point of time when I gave that mock at my place, the feeling was like that I have seen those quant questions for the first time..it is like what ever you have practised till now is worthless..you need to make strategy again...

One more point that once you are through with mock please analyse the mocks sincerely and then change all your strategies again and restart from the beginning I think that way you make new moves to crack the whole system...

Please Please analyse your mistakes and I would say that go through them again and again until you learn those types of questions... It is all about how much you can polish your skills...Yaar every job is monotonous whether it is an MBA job or any other job..this is what cat is all about....do the same things again and again until you master the concepts that are involved in that sys...

I hope this gyaan will help all the pg guys out there..

I want to say one more thing that PG rocks!!!

More gyaan after I get some more exp...
till the time...adios!!!!!!going to bed yaar I have come rite now from my shift guys...

Hi guys

well finally cat is getting closer to our head as the days are passing by..seems to be really nerve breaking task at times which makes you feel at times that this is not your cup of tea..yaar i say this becoz of the uncertain nature of cat..it shud be chameleon rather than cat changing colors...

come we have to crack it to make money guys...yaar why do we do all this shitty crap sacrificing all your comforts and friends..pretty obvious to make money....

for me there are 3 things that keeps me going..it is all money, sex n of course dreams..rest of the other things have no place in my life..what do you say guys...

come on whatever we say in interviews that better job prospects or more knowledge by doing mba but the underlying philosophy is MONEY!! so guys we need to crack it....

well guys has a word with isb adcom and found that every fulltime work ex is going to be considered no issues whether it is call centre or for any other kind...it is all your convincing capability to make the panel sure that this is the reason why you took up tat job....

i tell you one thing working IN AMEX for 2 years is grt fun...come on cool bucks!!!!!!incentives....nite shifts...cool chics!!! and ofcourse that AMERICAN ACCENT...

now I m relieved of all that crap that call centre work ex is worthless...

so all you BPO guys pull up your socks and ready to F**** CAT!!

TAKE CARE

CATCH YOU LATER...

NEEDS TO SLEEP!!!BYE
