CAT has almost ended and we, at IIM Ranchi,hope that you have done well enough to get the college of your choice:). Now is the time to clear all those questions about B-schools that come to your mind and this thread is basically for those people who need information about the PGDM-HR course that will be started by IIM Ranchi from the 2012-14 batch onwards and, in the process, become the first IIM to do so.
We shall do our best to answer your queries and when we are in doubt, shall get the answers from the college itself. So fire away!!!

Can u tell the expected cut off for the HR programme. Will there be seperate GD-PI for it?

Yes, the criteria and cutoff for HR programme will be different. Details to be out soon. In all probability, GD/PI will NOT be different since you're expected to have the same level of people skills and aptitude as the PGDM students.

Good to see a thread for IIM Ranchi.. Can u tell me what is the strength of the permanent faculty at IIM ranchi?? and a bit about the corporate interface???

hi e78kola...the policy of IIM Ranchi is core subjects such as stats, economics, marketing etc are assigned to permanent faculty...these permanent faculty have been recruited from reputed B-schools such as IIM-L,MDI and even nanyang singapore..For the electives and specialized subjects we have visiting profs from IIM C, IIM B etc and sometimes we have corporate taking up the course which is a great learning experience since the person is active in that particular field. Also thr has been a visiting faculty from the US for a finance elective for the seniors.. The corporate interface has been remarkable..there have been CEO's and MD's of some of the big brands..I cant reveal the names here...if u wanna know u can pm me..hope tht clears ur query...:)..and we will soon come up with a thread for the pgp course...this thread is restricted to the HR course...

As per my info, GD has been scrapped and a written ability test would be replacing it. Also I believe the PI for PGDM- HR would be different.

Hi Tishu1507...there are talks if WAT would replace GD this year..but I dont think its confirmed...and the PI for HR would obviously be different in terms of content but i guess it will be conducted by the same panel as the pgp...nonetheless we will talk to the administration asap regarding this and get back with the correct info...:)

I think the decision has already been made. Written essay would be the flavor of the season.

Good to see an HR thread, well guys, your queries about "why & How" IIM-Ranchi would be solved by IIMR guys here, but if anybody has "Why HR" types of queries you can PM me.

Well for one, I truly believe current students at XLRI would be the best mentors and guides on this thread ! Shall really appreciate them answering queries in their free time aabout the intricacies of a HR course and the roles offered in the industry, possible career growth etc etc !!

Sure, there are a lot of apprehensions in mind of people about the HR-field, I believe a person should make an informed decision, Know about the field, the way things happen and then make a decision....and ya as I said before "happy to help"

My bad. I mistakenly used GD when I meant WAT. Yes, this time WAT will be used. And the interviews will mostly be the same for both streams but will be evaluated differently. Kinda like what happens for PGP and PGP-ABM.

The period between the end of CAT exams and the declaration of results(official or unofficial) is the PG equivalent of a summer vacation for IIM related threads 😛
